Thank you!! Mine has dug tunnels entirely around the perimeter of my house, thru my septic field and is driving my dogs crazy.
So glad to find this post!!❤

@@zmblion 5.56 works everytime. The bad thing is if you dont get a clean shot, they run under ones deck and stink for about 2 months. Just got a trap and now have to figure how to set it.🤨

@@oldgoat50 patience, trial and error. Works every time.

    Nice instructions 👍
Apples work very well too, I hang half an apple with a wire like you, make small chunks of the other half and use as leading trail, never fails for me.

Just caught our "Goffie" or Goffeetta". Used a plan similar to what we see here. Did not have bait. Did buy green beans, cabbage and carrots. Did not worry about scent or de-scenting trap. Placed trap near his hole. Land scaper re- located it for $25.

Looks good. I've used melons and apples too, but by the time I get to the job, I've already eaten most of it. LOL. Best to skip the bait and end the worries in a maintenance free set up. You can use a double door cage at a den, at a did out under a fence, along a wall, in trails and you can drift fence them too. Seems like you can find something just about every time.

They like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches too. I caught 3 with pb&j sandwich, apple slice, and mulberries. This 4th one hasn't taken anything yet, so I'm pre-baiting with different things to see what this one likes. So far no luck with cantaloupe, pumpkin seeds, and the pb&j, mulberries, and apples. I'm going to try corn on the cob and I'll try green beans, lettuce, and cabbage too. I feel like Bill Murray in Caddyshack with this last one, the first 3 were caught within an hour of setting the trap out, no pre-baiting necessary. I'm going to get him though. I've filled all his holes but one with gravel and bricks, but they can dig pretty fast. I watched one dig a hole under my fence in less than 5 minutes.

Do you have a video that shows you how to check to see if the trap is working properly. I sprayed WD. Feels like you have to place more pressure on the peddle. Thanks.

The scent of WD40 would be a deal breaker for most animals.

If the green beans are like candy to them then why not just hang a bunch of green beans in the trap??

Caught the neighborhood groundhog this morning. Took several weeks and had to release the local possum two mornings, but cantaloupe did the trick.

What kind of trap do you recommend for ground hogs?

Never touch your traps without rubber gloves. Your scent will keep the animals afraid to go for the bait!
