I have a 2013 Nissan I’ve been trying to get the transmission fluid changed at coulple places . I was told that I have a sealed engine and I have to take it to the dealership . Took it there and they said that my transmission was dead and that it would be best to purchase a new car. Which is ridiculous. Smh I’m happy I found this video. I’m about to show it to my dad.
It has a hex bolt that needs to be removed after you remove the drain plug I just decided to open the transmission to check for any damage or metal shavings 👍
Hey man, if your using harbor freight jack stands there has been a massive recall on them for collapsing. That piece that locks the extender breaks. Regardless be carefull extending jack stands.
well the hard part is to remove the refill plug and second you don't need to remove whole pan to drain all fluid you just need after remove drain plug inside is overflow pipe that with allen range you can remove it to drain whole oil and after warm out transmission you can use the overflow pipe to see you put correct amount of oil in the transmission .i hope it was useful .
Even the service manual doesn't have the tech remove the pan for a fluid replacement. If the CVT has no leaks, you'll get about 2.5 quarts when removing the overflow pipe. Do it twice and you're good to go. Both the fluid and the engine have to be ambient temperature when changing since the fluid expands when it's hot.
Thanks for the video. Got a question for you if you don't mind; do I need to worry about changing the pan gasket when I do this change? Just bought my 18' Sentra that has 46k miles and never been changed.. Trying to find a replacement gasket has proven very difficult. Thank you 👍
If you find a way to keep the car horizontal and at the same time have room underneath to open the cap nut of the pan, then you don't have to remove the pan itself. In this video you had to do it because you lifted the front of the car at such angle that the cap nut would no longer be at the bottom point of the CVT fluid system.
great video, thank you sir. My wife has a 2016 Sentra and now has 23K on it, so was thinking of doing this instead of letting the dealer charge me $300 to do it.
Thanks now great video my friend. Now I too can do it for my Sentra 2018. Please advise at what mileage to change the CVT fluid for Sentra?? My car is now 38,000 KMS (approx 26,000 Miles).
Sure. Per Nissan the CVT transmission requires you to flush the transmission every 30.000 miles and they are very specific about the oil that you need to use, they only recommend the one they sell so get it at the dealership, is not that expensive Good luck 👍
You didn’t have to do any of that! Once you remove the drain plug, there’s a hollow hex bolt with a tube.....you can see it in your vid when you needlessly removed the pan. You remove that hex nut and the tube comes out allowing it to fully drain. Then you put the hex nut back and fill the transmission. When the fluid comes out of that tube, it’s full....now put the plug back and you’re done. th-cam.com/video/PziK25C8avo/w-d-xo.html
