Great video! I have always had a soft spot for Porsche but have a history of Corvette ownership as well. It's refreshing to hear a Porsche fan giving marks to the Corvette where it deserves them, instead of approaching it with snobbery as many Porsche purists would.
Good job figuring it out. I was struggling and my best guess was at “C8 ate A4 Rear End” Which made no sense but maybe the owner had some hate towards Audi A4 owners.
No doubt, but one could also jokingly say the LT2 has its entire party before the GT3 engine starts its party lol. With the gearing I’d say not missing any power anywhere up to about 130 mph. It does start to taper off as there isn’t anymore gearing and no additional top end.

Great review Nick. C8 is world class and it's great to see such a beautiful car at a more affordable price point. The used 911 prices have hit the stratosphere.
The C8 is an acquired taste it seems. I rented one for a week because I was seriously looking to buy one. I really praised the engineering of the car overall with the mid engine layout and aluminum construction. The ride quality is superb on our horrible busted NYC roads and it has great seats and a killer audio system but the engine i did not love the sound or power delivery of the old school pushrod lump behind my head. The steering is not as precise and sharp as the exotic Mclaren styling would dictate and the build quality not so great or even close to a Porsche in any regard with paint, panel gaps and interior surfaces. I still like the car overall and would not mind having one to customize and modify and the new Z06 really has my serious interest if I could even buy one for a fair price I think i would not hesitate. I also love the 911 GT3 and 718 GT4 and Spyder which are all amazing cars. We will see which one I pick up soon.

I took possession of my new C8 Z51 about 6 weeks ago. Same Hypersonic Gray outside, but black suede with Edge Red trim interior. This is my 5th Vette, going back to my '97 C5, '99 convertible 6 speed, to a '13 Grand Sport C6, to the last model '19 Grand Sport. As awesome as each was for its time, the C8 Z51 is exponentially superior in virtually every way. It is the easiest car to drive fast over any car I've ever driven. The interior quality is amazing, the exterior styling is exquisite, and the launch control will peel your face back. I loaded up the specs when I ordered it, so it came to about $92k MSRP, which fortunately was all I had to pay from a local dealer. ($98k out the door.) I can fit 2 sets of golf clubs in the trunk and a full airplane carry on in the frunk. Gas mileage is fairly decent, when my foot doesn't get too heavy. My insurance rates are reasonable, having a good driving history. I can't imagine how another $50k+ for a Z06, or another $100k+ for a 911 or even more for a Ferrari, McLaren, or a Lamborghini would be worth the premium over this car. At least not for my non-track purposes of a weekend cruiser and carver. I get there are a lot of them on the road at this point, but it still gets a boat load of compliments.
Definitely in love with this new C8 Stingray Vette! GM definitely shocked the world with this masterpiece! Great looks, great sound, great interior & materials and above all the value is just unbelievable! Never would imagine this in a million years but here it is at last! The Cien concept comes to mind when I think of this C8 though it was only a concept it showed what GM could produce when they make up their minds! Now give us another Camaro offering for a last hoorah with better design and & venerable rumbling V8 for old time sake! C'mon Chevy you can doit !😜

It's pretty cool and keeps me excited while we lurch forward slowly on the whole human rights thing. Thank God, 'cause that nonsense is incomprehensible to this logistician. Great vid!
Enyoyed your video review as it was more than fair. I enjoy exotics, and one happens to be a 2018 991 GT3 in the garage. I actually bought a 2022 C8 Z51 with the track package as a surprise for my wife. It is the 3rd corvette she has had. Let me say she is really enjoying the C8. I've driven it on several occasions and twice tracking her car (which is best way to enjòy snd really test the handling of this car). I was quite impressed. On a scale of 10 I will give it an 8, which for the price influenced thatvrating. I actually took her to the Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Pahrump, NV to have some fun and really see its ability. Excellent experience and no surprise she ran circles around the other non professional driver's. Since March of 2022 she has over 12k miles, is more than I have onb the 2018 911 GT3. Remember a happy wife is a blessing!😊
Chevy has outdone themselves with this Corvette. It offers a legit supercar experience at a price that isn’t in the stratosphere. Nick, you looked genuinely thrilled with the acceleration, and a naturally aspirated engine is becoming a rare breed these days.

Nick, you should try to get your hands on a Z06 to test. With its insane sounding flat plane crank V8, it takes what is great about the Z51 to a far more exotic level and it's still a bargain relative to the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, etc.
The mid-engine Corvette is the best value sports car money can buy. Looks way better than Porsches too. With a few tunes you can make it look like a halo car. The only cars that come close to it are Lambos and Ferraris. Chevy has knocked it out of the planet with this one.
Ferrari licensed the Magnetic Ride suspension tech from GM. They also have a square steering wheel in some of their models now too! Great review and sub’d!
Before I bought my Targa 4S this year, I considered the Corvette. Very impressive but way too in your face styling. I like the smooth styling of Porsche. Put wings on her and she is an airplane.
Almost all cars nowadays have some level of understeer built into them....this is done as a safety to force you to slow down. A change in suspension setup would fix that...
I own a 21’ Targa 4 and a 22’ Boxster GTS and a 23’ Panamera and just traded my GT4 for a 911/992 T - but I also have a c8 convertible being built on December 19. The big difference is that the c8 seems like a much larger and less nimble “sports car” than say the 911 or 718 particularly. The c8 insulates you more from the road and it feels very large going around corners. A fantastic value given all the standard options that Porsche charges extra money for but the quality is not the same in regards to leather quality and upholstery and materials in the cabin. But I think it is a necessary car to own in a collection of modern sports cars and I really like the motor driven convertible top- I am looking forward to taking delivery of a 23’ c8 in mid January. Also keep in mind that Porsche builds 5,000 911 each year and Chevy will build 30,000 c8’s in 2023. I have never ever seen another 992 Targa on the road in two years. My answer is to own one of each! I love both the brands --
Thanks Nick, I value your comments. You said some things that left me with a deeper impression of the C8. The only thing it lacks is the feedback through the steering wheel that you get with a Porche or a McLaren. It is still very precise but not in the level of feedback. It would need to be lighter and the steering setup much differently. I don't think you can have that and still have all the other benefits of this car. It is precise but just not a scalpel... and it may never be that and still be a Corvette. Gord
try a lotus evora gt or emira and elise final eidtion and exige 430, they say their better, evora emira are hydrallic steering and others are manual, great but just not mch power, ferrari v6 sounds great despite the turbo and lot of power. a flat 6 swap is argueably the way to go
With the engine in the back…the low profile pushRod 16 valves V8 was no longer requIred for forward visibility and low profile ….with a modern power plant Nordstar, Coyote etc ..or a heavily boosted Light V6, this would be a real super car for a sporty coupé price..
Nice review, cheers Nick. Yeah, in 'Merica the value would be hard to ignore! In RHD markets (UK or here in Australia) they've jacked the price massively which blunts the appeal somewhat but still an impressive car
Not sold on the looks of it. Same price as a base 911 here in the UK. Think I'd take the Porsche. The fuel economy blunts its appeal at over 7 USD a gallon here. 😲
I’m getting 26 MPG out of my C8 HTC Z51 so not sure what your talking about. And that’s with 500HP. Talk about looks the 911 hasn’t changed it’s basic body style since the 1960’s. Butt ass ugly.
Price aside it really comes down to appearance whether you prefer 911 or Vette. Both are capable cars. Disappointed Nick didn't take it in the twisties to give us a comparison of the cornering. Some have criticized the Vette as having less feedback and engagement.
Any C8 are better track cars than most new 911s (except the GT2 and GT3 models)… for less than half the price. Which shows you how much profit is made by Porsche (VW Group and dealers) each time they sell a unit. Brand loyalty has a cost.
Great review!! Would like to see you take it to an actual track!😏. The performance is amazing & if you need a boost in power then Late Model Racecraft(LMR) are the guys! They build the quickest Corvettes(all models) out there! Good luck on getting a hold of a ZO6 though!:(
Had a 2020 C8. Transmission and water pump failure at 100 miles. Sat on a lift for one month. Sold it at 1000 miles due to a bad ECU and 6 recalls for more than I paid MSRP. Bought a 2013 991.1 C2S Cab with 2800 miles. Never looking back. Porsche...there is no substitute.
Had a Corvette for about a year once. What I remember most, was the acceleration from 50-100mph. You floor it, quarter of a second later you’re punched in the back, you blink, and the speedometer is at 100.
Nick, Really great to see you enjoying the C8 and focusing and the positive. It's almost unheard of these days of pretend car reviewers that try to nit pick and create controversy with snobby comments about Corvettes that really aren't even true. I have had and dailyed 911's &. Corvettes on a off for 43 years and I enjoy both brands. The point that almost all reviewers miss is that most places in the US have no, or very limited good roads to use a Porsche and the truth is it is hard to justify the usual precision driving experience advantage that Porsches tend to have vs's the higher power & fun per dollar of the Corvettes. Just a thought, but thanks for a great review and focusing on how when you get more choices there is no loser in the marketplace only another great option.
As a die hard Porsche fan for life, I have to admit I’ve shifted my focus to a corvette when my daughter is out of college. There is no comparison between the two for the dollars.
Love it when you do non-Porsche products like that E Type review you did. Great job. I actually prefer the C7 to the C8, but the C8 is a good car for those who want a GT, not a sports car. Very easy to drive
For those who want the Z06 the price will be that of a super car, checkout Car & Driver test with the Z07 pkg and a few other options is $166k and now add the ADM that dealers will be asking for and now your looking at a $200 k car and that is if your lucky enough to get an allocation.
Nice, almost unbiased, review. I say almost because of the underlying notion that Porsche is somehow more of a “scalpel” vs the Vette “sledgehammer “…lol. It would be really great to see a skilled driver review these cars who had never experienced either brand…but it’s probably not possible to find such a person. This comparison shows a very very expensive cost for the differences in performance considering the 911 initial price and ongoing maintenance costs. But money really isn’t the controlling factor for car guys and automotive decisions. $100k, $200k even $1mill+ for a car? No person would spend like we do in a rational world.
Took delivery a month ago after a 14 month wait. Can’t believe how much attention the C8 gets while parked or getting fuel etc… and it’s in its 4th model year. Same spec and color as your review.
I own both the C8 HTC Z51 and a C7 Z06 Manual but I’ve never owned a 911 I don’t like the look it basically hasn’t changed since the 1960’s and they are over priced for the performance. The C8 and C7 are two totally different cars the C8 is a more refined feedback that’s easy to put the power down and go fast. The C7 Z06 manual is a death ride in the wrong hands. It’s a HP monster that can get away from you in a matter of seconds. They are both awesome cars. Personally you can have the Porsche.

Thanks Nick , Good one 👍 First mid-engine Vette I'd say is a pretty spectacular first time at bat for GM . Z06 engine is Sick , do a little deep dive on that one . Maybe the last and greatest NA V 8 ... 5.5L 8500 redline 670hp

Great video! I have always had a soft spot for Porsche but have a history of Corvette ownership as well. It's refreshing to hear a Porsche fan giving marks to the Corvette where it deserves them, instead of approaching it with snobbery as many Porsche purists would.
To be fair the C8 has gone way upscale compared to previous corvettes.
@@jeffk464 you're absolutely right, my C6 couldn't dream of being comparable to this. But snobs will be snobs and find other things to dislike ;)
The license plate C88A4RE = 'C8 (the eighth-gen Corvette) ate a Ferrari"
😂 thx
Good job figuring it out.
I was struggling and my best guess was at “C8 ate A4 Rear End” Which made no sense but maybe the owner had some hate towards Audi A4 owners.
Nice honest video Nick, can’t wait on your test drive on the ZO6!
No doubt, but one could also jokingly say the LT2 has its entire party before the GT3 engine starts its party lol.
With the gearing I’d say not missing any power anywhere up to about 130 mph. It does start to taper off as there isn’t anymore gearing and no additional top end.
This is a great car to review because many 911 owners would definitely want to know about this car
An objective analysis from a man that can afford much more expensive cars. Thank you, and you earned a sub
1:53 Nick's menacing laugh tickles me every time ;). Love the color combo of Gray & Natural Leather looks amazing!
Dude!!! You’re back in something other than Porsche configurator videos.. great to see you back
I own a 2012 C6 Convertible with the 6.2 and it's a beast and I giggle like a kid when I drive it. Enjoy Nick
Really enjoyed your take on the Corvette. Great value for sure. I see tons of them out on the roads. No way I would trade my 911 for a Corvette but to each his own. The Corvette people have a great car and more money left in the bank:)

Great review Nick. C8 is world class and it's great to see such a beautiful car at a more affordable price point. The used 911 prices have hit the stratosphere.
The new C8 is an excellent alternative to the 911.
Thanks for the review. Yeah, your thoughts for the Z06 will be interesting.
I love the way you laugh when you put your foot on the gas. Better than words
Love the location, Fall in Connecticut it doesn't get much prettier than that.
Not even close comparing build quality to Porsche!!!

Great vid as always! Licence plate C88A4RE - C8 ate a Ferrari?
I just turned 9,000 miles in my C8 today. Love it.
Will be looking forward to the future Nick review of the Z06. Thanks for the C8 drive.
Excellent comparative review! It's as much of a pleasure to hear the engine as it is to see you love the car. Keep up the good work.
Honest review from a Porsche driver. Well done
Something about the signature proper music and this beast in the frame.
I’m a big Porsche guy (my dad owned a 356C) but I really appreciate what Chevrolet has made the Corvette into,
As a GT3 guy ( 3 of them ) I like the C8 but I’d probably only go for the z06. I’ve driven the c7 z06 and that’s a car!
I wonder what the C8 Zora or ZR1 will be. Would you consider those?
Nick. You're nailing it buddy!
You treated the subject matter in a way that should please even the most die hard "Porsche guys are snobs" motorhead. I say "should" because this is the internet after all.
Loved the nostalgia drop in with that great story from your early adulthood. And yes, the car is amazing. I want one. Desperately.
Along with one or two legendary cars from Zuffenhausen as well!
We live in an era with an embarrassment of engineering riches to pilot.
I was hoping this time we’d have no video and just audio. Then I heard you talk. (Great vid. 😊)

Great review of an awesome car. Love the Vette. Moved from 88 Mustang GT to 85 Vette to 19 Boxster. Great color on the C8
I love the 1988 Mustang GT convertible. My friend had one. We did a video about his car and it came out great, unfortunately he sold the car.
Nick giggling like a Detroit schoolgirl ❤
The mid-engine Corvette is the best value sports car money can buy. Looks way better than Porsches too. With a few tunes you can make it look like a halo car. The only cars that come close to it are Lambos and Ferraris. Chevy has knocked it out of the planet with this one.
Ferrari licensed the Magnetic Ride suspension tech from GM. They also have a square steering wheel in some of their models now too! Great review and sub’d!
Many cars use the magnetic ride from GM.
Love to hear your thoughts about the Z06. The engine is utterly different and much more in line with supercars from Ferrari, etc.
Man, I just placed my order of C8 this morning , as a 991.2 owner
Yo, Nick! Great non-biased review! Wondering how far behind are your videos…the fall colors of the leaves are still amazing!
I just hope for the future facelift, they could clean up the rear a bit more. That's the only part I really don't like about the C8.
I can't knock anything about the performance of the vehicle, however, aesthetically I don't like anything about it.
Before I bought my Targa 4S this year, I considered the Corvette. Very impressive but way too in your face styling. I like the smooth styling of Porsche. Put wings on her and she is an airplane.
Hawaii just phoned. Your lei has been recalled.
Nicely done Nick and Chevrolet. This C8 has grown on me quite a bit, but it’s a no go with no manual and all the understeer at the limit.
Almost all cars nowadays have some level of understeer built into them....this is done as a safety to force you to slow down. A change in suspension setup would fix that...
Awesome a Porsche guy actually giving props to the c8 vette. That shows how far the corvette moved up with the eighth gen.
They look amazing. Good ole' American muscle.
I love both the brands --
Thanks Nick,
I value your comments.
Gord
try a lotus evora gt or emira and elise final eidtion and exige 430, they say their better, evora emira are hydrallic steering and others are manual, great but just not mch power, ferrari v6 sounds great despite the turbo and lot of power. a flat 6 swap is argueably the way to go
Nice, balanced comparison. I’ve always liked Porsches, they are just way out of my budget. Both cars are great for different reason…imho
With the engine in the back…the low profile pushRod 16 valves V8 was no longer requIred for forward visibility and low profile ….with a modern power plant Nordstar, Coyote etc ..or a heavily boosted Light V6, this would be a real super car for a sporty coupé price..
The juxtaposition of the elegant music with the cuts of the car 😂
C8 is a legit game changer, Porsche fan boys are officially on notice!
your cackles. love it.
Yes. Every time he gets on it a bit.
Good luck on getting a hold of a ZO6 though!:(
You are having some fun, Nick 1:55
Fun video from a porche enthusiast. Cheers
Oh, and the you giggle as demonstrated in this video.
This car is insane value for $$
As a die hard Porsche fan for life, I have to admit I’ve shifted my focus to a corvette when my daughter is out of college. There is no comparison between the two for the dollars.
C88A4RE license plate means 'C8 ate a Ferrari'
Love it when you do non-Porsche products like that E Type review you did. Great job. I actually prefer the C7 to the C8, but the C8 is a good car for those who want a GT, not a sports car. Very easy to drive
Agreed, I love the C8, but when i see a C7 on the road, I'd rather have it, something about the classic Vette shape, and the C7 looks bad ass to boot.
Love the ending (got a good laugh from that). Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for the unbiased review. It is a great car and a great daily. I give myself that acceleration chuckle every chance I get.
For those who want the Z06 the price will be that of a super car, checkout Car & Driver test with the Z07 pkg and a few other options is $166k and now add the ADM that dealers will be asking for and now your looking at a $200 k car and that is if your lucky enough to get an allocation.
I have a C8, I feel so good when I drive it!
C8 ate a Ferrari, 😆. I'm sure the owner is quite happy with the purchase.
The 8600 RPM Z06 will be the one to get.

Well, shoot!
The title suggested a somewhat detailed driving comparison, instead it was basically a narrow, pedal to the metal L.A. freeway clip.
I’d love to see your reaction to the Z06 with its flat plane
Damn. I might have to eat my words I actually quite like it. Although I'd still have Face's from the A-Teams white one plus a full metal G-Shock
Porsche channel? Ouch that hurts ... i found your channel and felt in love with it, when you hat the M4. 😅😂
Took delivery a month ago after a 14 month wait. Can’t believe how much attention the C8 gets while parked or getting fuel etc… and it’s in its 4th model year. Same spec and color as your review.
Thanks Nick! Great video and vibe as always.
That license plate “C88A4RE” reads “C8 Ate A Ferrari”. Good one 😂
You look good in the Vette Nick :)
