You have a good point with people obsessing over little holes, etc. but some people- like me- are probably not worrying b/c they're seeking perfection, we're trying to be proactive b/c we either see videos everyday that say to get ahead of the problem BEFORE it becomes a huge infestation or we've had plants quickly go from big, lush, & beautiful, to infested with a certain pest, fungus, etc.

A good analogy would be the human skin. Even healthy skin has freckles, mole, scrapes, cuts etc. And just like our skin survives (as well as our bodies) so do the plants. Good video sir.

Hey Luke. I think that, what great about your videos is that they're a very good preparation especially for new gardeners because they'll get a good understanding of what to to expect, what to look out for at what not to worry about, in different types of gardens. Since last summer when I came across your channel, I've been watching your videos on a daily basis to be a 100% sure on what to do and what to expect for my first time gardening on my own. And even though I only had a west facing windowsill, no fertilizer and most of the flowers on my pepper plant fell of, I couldn't get more happy when I saw the first pepper forming and that 3-4 weeks later, 4 more peppers started forming, I would definitely call that a successful grow. And I now have a lot experience to take with me for the next season.

Good message! I have Mason Bee's in the back yard and never mind about the circular holes they cut from the edges of leaves and in fact it makes me feel good to know they are thriving. Now spider mites, however....I bring out the organic pesticide for those villains because they can wipe out everything. No amount of spraying them with strong jets of water, leafing-up from the ground, practicing good garden hygiene or keeping plants fully watered seems to stop them in my yard. They go after all my soft-needled evergreens, rhododendrons, roses, fruiting shrubs and everything in my veggie garden. The attack starts in early July and I fight it till first frost.

Early in the video you said this info was for beginning gardeners. (Like me.) Then you ranted that we don't know when to worry! Of course we're going to worry that holes in the leaves, curling etc are the beginning of a big problem. Gardening sites don't tell you to expect this. So I clicked on video for information and got scolded! Just calmly show us .... "Don't worry about this but if you see this other thing then you should take action." Thank you.

Thanks for this video. You were talking about small nibbling on large plants. I have about 185 Boston Ivy plants right now. They are about 1.5 inches tall. But about 3 of them have leaves with holes in the center of the leaves. There is not an nibbling at the edges of leaves. Your plants are huge. Mine are tiny, and those holes look BIG on tiny plants. I wonder if that factor might make my tiny plants in danger because they are tiny. Does the tiny factor give me a reason to worry ? And, based upon holes in the centers of leaves rather than on the edges, tell me who the culprit is ? If I knew the culprit, I might know how to respond accordingly.

very helpful video...this is my first season gardening and sticking with three types of peppers, Tomatoes, lemon tree from seed, and a random red potato plant that grew from scraps that missed the mulch pile. I live in North Florida where during the summer months, rain and high wind are going to be about every single day. my Bell pepper and chili pepper plants have some leaf curl, but mostly yellow'ish discoloration. the peppers come out amazing and overall they seem to be healthy and continue to produce. I assume its from the major amounts of water from all the rain but everytime I start to google it..the pinned post happens. any insight from anyone here would be greatly appreciated on confirming or adding to my theory!

Better to help a healthy plant before it gets inundated. Most people don't worry too much until they see the plants failing to thrive.

I've got small black specks on the underside of some half chewed pepper leaves and what looks like small webs. I didn't see the black specks moving, so either eggs or bug poo?

Could you help me out as a new gardener? I just noticed my pepper plants are black on the stem where it meets a branch. Is this normal? They’ve only been in the ground a little over 2 weeks. Not sure what to do, if anything??

I had caterpillars on a hydrangea that eat the entire shrub. it was a tall shrub too. You say don't worry but it ate the whole plant. Same thing last year. I would love to show you a photo but don't know to email you a photo. I don't think it was leaf tier cause the leaves were not curled at all.

I sprayed my yellow squash with diluted detergent because of a few white flies. I ended up burning the leaves. I worried too much and almost killed my squash LOL

My Darling i hope you are. I have a Question for you. Some of our Sunflower lower leaves are turning yellow, they are in the Sun for quite a few hours a day, do you think it could be overwatering? We have really hot weather at the moment. Quite large holes in some Sunflower leaves but i am treating them Organically. I really enjoy your Vlogs. ❤🌻🌼🦋🐞 love to your r family x

I have what is probably a really dumb question hoping someone can answer. My friend brought her kids over and we let the kids play outside. When I went to checknin them her children had comoletely destroyed my garden (my friend was mortified and felt horrible). Fruits and veggies picked thrown around and stompd on. Only 1 of my tomato plants survived however just barely as it has a broken stem...the only stem with tomatoes on it. Is there a way to stimulate or get it to "heal" or scab back together? I thought I had seen my grandma do it a few times growing up.

Take a limb from each kid, compost it and feed the plants. Serves as a warning to the kids and a fertilizer.

Waitt. What if there are holes the leaves of all the plants that were in physical contact with one another except for the orchids and it started with the lime plant?
