  • Hey guys! In this video, I briefly go over some differences between dance skates and freestyle skates. Like I said in the video I am not an expert but I thought it would be fun to share some things I know about the differences between these two types of skates. I hope you enjoy and maybe learn a few things!

    Loved this video! I’ve always been so curious about this topic. I never thought about how a smaller blade would enable you to skate closer to you partner but it makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing!

    Also I HATED my MK Dance blades bc that toe pick is awful... so I upgraded to the MK Dynasty! (I’m also a synchro skater)

    Just out of curiosity: can one use dance blades for freestyle? Wondering if it could help in crossovers (I'm begginer and find my blades long haha). Also, how do you manage to learn both freestyle and dance? Don't you get confused sometimes on the moves and blades difference? Thank you for the video xx.

      I'm definitely not an expert on blades but I assume you would be able to do some freestyle with dance blades. When I first started using dance blades it was quite strange, but over time I got used to it and I can flip back and forth between skates no problem!

    I have a question: can you perform single jumps with a dance boot?

    Can you jump safely with dance boots?

    Do you lace them different? I switched to dance skates for synchro and starting back after 20 years. I often feel like my dance skates get looser super quick at the ankle. I have Risports, though.

      I lace both skates pretty tight! Although, dance boots are typically less stiff to begin with so that you can bend your ankles more, which may also be a reason why you are feeling less support around the ankle. You could also try replacing the laces to see if that helps!

    I would assume the dance toepicks are a lot less aggressive since they aren't needed for intense jumps, no?

      I'm definitely not a blade expert but I would say that is one reason for it yes.

    Would have been better if you had shown the comparison while wearing them!

    When you are presenting a topic it helps to write down the facts and compare them in a slow side by side manner. example , first, boots, compare them, what works for freestyle, what works for ice dancing, the same with blades. Then practice what you are going to say, several times., video the speech then review that several times, editing works! Can you go to a competition without coaching or practice? No. The same works on videos.

    Omg you have the newer prettier Flamencos!! I’m still skating/ coaching in my old Flamencos from 2017😫 as soon as my mom lets me go get fitted I’m upgrading to Ice Flys!! I have the money for new boots but she’s being weird about all the COVID STUFF 😒

      Your mother is correct, CoViD19 is miserable, it causes fatigue that lasts for months or is permanent. It is also lethal. Contracting CoViD19 will probably end your skating for good. Those boots are not a necessity. Mature while you wait. Your mother knows what she is speaking of.

      @@christinemeleg4535 TRUST me I knew of the seriousness of COVID at the time! We stayed home 99% of the time and only went out masked for necessities. I DID end up getting fitted in November of 2021 and we all wore masks AND did it on the porch of my fitter's home/shop. Also I had been fully vaccinated since March 2021. ALSO not that it's any of your business BUT I did end up finally getting COVID 2 weeks ago- but it was more of a mild cold BECAUSE I'm vaccinated! Oh, 1 more thing... I'm 25 and the boots were necessary bc my Flamencos were so broken down that my Plantar Fasciitis was aggravated. And I could barely skate synchro or coach LTS with how broken down and painful they were!

      @@madmudd96 Why are you talking about your mother letting you do things when you are 25 years of age?

    • @madmudd96
      @madmudd96 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@indiging8330 well I had a stroke when I was 16 (fun fact it actually happened on the ice) and it left me disabled... So now at the age of 26 I still live at home bc I have zero short term memory. And not that it's any of your business but- being on disability limits the hours I can work and the amount of money I can make. So moving out isn't an option.
