I've had the same guard dogs for about 3 yrs now. They're still in great condition and I love them a bunch bc they are cotton candy scented and even after having and using them for so long they still smell super strong! They also made my zuca smell like cotton candy which I rlly like!
Agree with a lot of what you said. I had guard dogs for 3.5 years. 1) They are slippery. 2) I recently got Matrix Legacy blades and the guards barely fit onto the blades. 3) One of the guards actually warped, so it was really difficult to put on. It eventually broke. Just got the edea guards and they are fantastic!
I used old version of Edea guards (similar to Guardog) and switched to Rockerz few months ago, the quality is much better and they are easier to put on the blade. Don’t buy two-colored version of new Edea guards, one of the colors is just paint and it goes off very fast, looks ugly.
I had the guard dogs for a couple years on my rental skates, just get my own skates today for my 16th birthday and I got the E guards for them, haven’t tried them yet but I’m excited to!!
Love my e-guards! I used to have a just a no name brand of cheap ones, similar to the guard dog ones. They were fine, but got super dirty and gunk stuck inside. The shop I bought my e-guards from lets you choose two different colours, so I have a hot pink and a hot orange (the ones you were wearing) and they look cool together. So much more secure and easy to walk in!
I skate everyday and I tried Guardog for a month and they wore down so bad on the heel that my blade was sticking out! I thing its just because I used them so often though. Changed to Edea e guard and there holding up so far and I like them a lot.
i have had guard dogs for a long time and i hurt myself 3 times in one week because i fell. now i got the rockerz and i've never fell one time in one year and i love them! i tried the edea ones but it was hard for me to put on.
Nice review, good video:) I have Rockerz and like them. Of course, drying blades and putting on jokers is a must. I want to try E-guards. As a matter of fact, I ordered a pair but I could not put them on! They were so tight.
@@ariane51000 My friend had to have other people put her E-Guards on for her because her guards were small, and her blade was the biggest size that are supposed to have small size E-Guards. So her guard would fall off with medium E-Guards, and her small E-Guards were really hard to fit on. She just went back to her old guards after around a month.
"Guard Dog" guards do NOT have holes in the bottom. What you're pointing to are deadend voids from stabilizing pins in the mold. So the pins grip the plastic during its molding process. Probably helps keep the soft plastic straight. Careful when using guards that let water out, they can let de-icing salts in.
e-guards is definitely a ton more convenient and modern. the only thing is that the design is not as beautiful, as it sort of looks like a caterpillar...hope edea can improve the look while maintaining the very desirable one-piece ease.
I actually find the eguards way more attractive than the rockerz or guardogs. I mean it's just skates guards, they're supposed to be ergonomic and do the less damages to your blades. The looks aren't important, especially since rockerz are sooo expensive.
I have the Alligator guards...huge click clack & they always seem to stretch off the blades as I walk...these were pre-Guard Dogs. I just got Guard Dogs & wished I had seen this before purchase to choose something different. Definitely wished I could get E-Guards but I have 10 3/4 freestyle blade length unfortunately.
hardly never walk around rink with skates on lol. Got Rockerz and ya... if you do not really care about aesthetics... just buy cheapest ones , they just do the job. Edea ones look cool but they are so soft and do not feel as safe as others to walk on hard concretes
I've had two pairs of gaurd dogs. Blue ones except I lost them but they fit exactly to my blades. My newer ones (red) were smaller. Now I have new skates and they blades are bigger so my gaurds really dont fit. I havent found any gaurd dogs that fit my skate so I plan on getting rockerz
I have the same size blade as you and they're pattern 99 revolution so the back is a little shorter and they fit almost perfectly, I used to have blades from Jackson which were a little longer and they were pretty snug and a little harder to get off
Hi! There is a pair on the websites below figureskatingstore.com/edea-figure-skates-e-guards/ skatesus.com/product/edea-e-guards-ombre/ You can also try eBay or amazon!
i hate how fast that spiral gets rust, i would love to try eguards, but my blade size is 10 3/4 and it would be difficult to wear them on :/ i dont understand why they produce only one size
one size but they fit blades sizes from 8¾ to 10! stretching them is a bit difficult at the start but i recommend leaving them on for one night so they can stretch out to the length of your blade
Guard dogs are the worst blade design EVER. The old school alligator guards were better. They dull my blades once they start to wear down, which happens quickly. They fight you when you try to put them on your blades, they are too thin so you slip easily, and they are made cheaply so they snap too. Rockers are where it's at. I've had my rockers for 6 years, and they haven't even worn down. They are wider so it's easier to walk, you can actually walk on the ice with them. Rockers also have a "rocker" on them so it conforms to the blade better and that also helps prevent the blade from dulling. I have never had an issue with putting them on. Also, there is no "right wrong" way to put them on unlike guard dogs. The new edea guards look stupid to me. Plus, all the designs are simply painted on instead of melted into the plastic like rockers. I get the idea of them, but I think they were targeted for pros or show skaters who have to walk and wear skates for long periods of time and they wanted to prevent rust. Another thing I don't like about them, is that everyone seems to require a couple tries before they get them on their skates while it takes me 2 seconds with my rockers. Just my personal opinion of course. Also, f*** guard dogs!! Never injured myself more just from walking off ice than with guard dogs. Hate them.

Ah neat! See thats pretty cool. The guard dogs are very durable which I love about them!
I have the E-Guards....absolutely love them.
Me too!

Just got the edea guards and they are fantastic!
So glad you like the edea's. Your guard warped?! I didn't hear that one yet. Dang. The Edea's are awesome!

Oh very interesting!!! The paint coming off is not good at all!
I have rockerz and the drainage isn’t a problem for me because I dry them and put my soakers on straight away
Wow! These reviews were very thorough! 😊 Thanks for taking the time to do this!
I had the guard dogs for a couple years on my rental skates, just get my own skates today for my 16th birthday and I got the E guards for them, haven’t tried them yet but I’m excited to!!
I just got the Edea guards in the silver ombre. I cannot wait to try them out this week.

Oh nice! I didn’t know they let you pick different ones, so neat! I agree they are so secure!
The Eguards still have the Medium as its largest. Blades over size 9 will have to wait until they have a bigger size.
I had the alligator guards which was pre-Guard Dogs.
I skate everyday and I tried Guardog for a month and they wore down so bad on the heel that my blade was sticking out! I thing its just because I used them so often though. Changed to Edea e guard and there holding up so far and I like them a lot.
I have Guard Dogs I love them but when I put them on the top part gets beat up a lot but other than that I LOVE them
i have had guard dogs for a long time and i hurt myself 3 times in one week because i fell. now i got the rockerz and i've never fell one time in one year and i love them! i tried the edea ones but it was hard for me to put on.
I pretty sure the reason why you hear some guards click is because the rocker on the blade if bigger on some and smaller on others

Thats the only bummer about them. They only fit certain size skate blades. :(
@@ShellySkates , my blades are Mark IV,
9 2/3 and they should have fit.

I’d love a guard with a bit of grip on the bottom, for when you accidentally step onto the ice with them!
Absolutely!

new skater, great review , so I ordered the eguard😊
I have the jerry's skating world guards, same shape as the guard dogs (very classic but love them)

oh I actually really like how they look I think they look a lot more attractive that the two piece ones

Theyll fit your blade size

What size blade do you have? Was there much resistance from the E-guards when pulling them on? I have 9.25 freestyle blades.
I have the same size blade as you and they're pattern 99 revolution so the back is a little shorter and they fit almost perfectly, I used to have blades from Jackson which were a little longer and they were pretty snug and a little harder to get off
I have a 9 1/4 Gold Seal Blade and putting them on and taking them off have been fine!
Ordered myself E-guards today because my old guards dont fit my new blades
I have the guard dogs guards and they are great but I've definitely fallen down the stairs at the rink at least once lmao. Be careful with em on
i just got my first pair of guards - mine are crs cross from amazon - theyre okay
Do you know if the E-guards work on hockey skates?
No I'm pretty sure they don't. You'd better get normal hockey skate guards rather than expensive eguards
which are the easiest to pull over the blade? although i’m not a child, i am very weak and struggle to slip my guards on and off 😅
Probably Gaurd dog after it’s fittef
I meant probably guard dogs after it’s fitted
I just realized the screw part of mine weren’t fully poked through so i fixed them and have had better luck since then 😌
Where I can buy thr Rokerz guards ??
i got glack edea e gaurds ans there so good!
Hi! Do you know where I could buy the rainbow e guards online?

My old skates were a size 10 blade bc I didn’t get correctly fitted but they fit. Just requires a little muscle
Do you have to get the rockerz cut to fit your blade?
yep
Well when you usually order them (if you get them online) you judt tell them your blade size and you'll get the size needed to fit your blade
the centipede guards clack a lot
are e guards only one size?
They stretch to your blade but I would check the site you buy them on for the starting size!
one size but they fit blades sizes from 8¾ to 10! stretching them is a bit difficult at the start but i recommend leaving them on for one night so they can stretch out to the length of your blade
