    Love to hear Doris speak about more obscure designers like JCDC. So happy you are making your own videos, they're brilliant!

      He is not an obscure designer. He is a great designer but not a household name like Dior or Chanel.

      Hunty 2u castelbajac had it heyday during 1980-90. He Is obscure for someone young and dont know much.

    I’m delighted to have serendipitously found your channel! I am thoroughly enjoying your content. I adore JC/DC. I have an amazing bodycon style black and silver dress with scissors and screws. It zips up the front and on the sleeves. It fits like it was made for me and I always receive so many compliments when I wear it. I purchased it at Les Merveilles de Babellou. Whenever I’m in Paris, I shop there and at Thanx God I’m a VIP!

    Wow Doris, these are amazing! I can’t believe that red beret coat; I love when humor and beauty collide. And the Jackie in mourning piece is so interesting to me - If you were to describe it, say, over the phone, I would potentially think less of it, but seeing it moving and in detail, it’s done so beautifully and the concept is really very powerful. I would absolutely love to see more designer highlights like this! Thank you so much for sharing!

    Hi Doris,
    Thank you for this episode. The education on JCDC is eye-opening and delightful insights into American fashion. I am from Southeast Asia and snippets on American designers like JCDC is so welcome. Also, if its not too much to ask, could you tell us more in detail of the items you are wearing. I am always curious to know why you pick the pieces... but the colours you chose are so spot-on. I love turquiose on you! Best wishes.

    • @thewaywewore7371
      @thewaywewore7371  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kay S Thank you for your compliment Kay!
      Wanted to correct one thing- JC/DC is French and I will watch the episode to see if I said something to mislead the audience.
      Regarding your suggestion, I appreciate it but I don’t want our brief 10-12 minutes to focus on me. The clothes tell the story. My choices are primarily for color (blues & purple are my favorite) and design to camouflage the 18 pounds I have put on.
      Thank you for watching. We have some great topics coming up and I am leaving in a week for a buying trip to Europe.
      Doris

    • @kays3956
      @kays3956 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your reply Doris. My mistake. It was clear you did not mean JCDC as an American or a nationality. When you pulled out the pieces, maybe due to my ignorance or lack knowledge of American fashion, I thought he had an American persuasion. Apologies. By the way, I love what you did in this episode.

    So you just popped up. And I was so pissed that I had no idea about the TH-cam channel. I loved the show. So I thought I had been missing out on the channel. But now know that this is new. This is my first comment since I started watching oldest to new. 1st thing is knowledge, how have you learned so much. You're knowledge is so expansive. You don't just collect because it's pretty, you collect with such knowledge. 2nd. How do you insure these collections. These are huge investments, as in museum quality. 3rd. I think anything you do on this channel will be enjoyed. But I really love your ability to show and tell. The who, what ,when, where, and why's. I always learn somthing. I'm so excited for you guys doing this and for me being able to watch. Thank you.

      Michael Miller Hi Michael. Apologies for the delay in reply. Between going on vacation and trying to reply to so many comments- I am way behind.
      I’ve loaned the Jackie piece to the V & A Museum in London and also the Galliera Museum in Paris. Your question made me smile. 😁

    Hi Doris! I’m completely infatuated by undergarments for couture pieces and how to identify them when the are separated from the original garment they are meant to be a foundation piece for. Are there any reference books you recommend on them?

      Tess Chambers Hi Tess! That’s a great question and I don’t have an answer for you yet. Let me look through my library and see if I have anything I can personally recommend. DORIS

    Do I spy a Moschino life jacket-jacket in the background?
    Thank you so much for this video! I learned a lot. This was so enjoyable, that two person anorak is hilarious. :) The Jackie Kennedy piece was really so beautiful And the Red beret coat is really stunning - for some reason I pictured Rihanna wearing it.

      Glad you liked this episode. I’ve had these fabulous pieces for about 13 years and it was a pleasure to take them out of their acid-free boxes to share. DORIS

    I feel like the Fats Domino garment has a FULL PIANO TOP on the back, not the just keyboard. That's why it has only one sleeve. It's the perfect shape. How fun

    How about accessories? Accesorizing is a great way to jush up everyday outfits... I have a ton and would be very interested in that topic :). From jewelry to scarfs to belts to ... idk, you are the expert(s). Some years ago someone snatched a vintage Hermès scarf I was bidding on with the motto of Paris in Latin on it: Fluctuat nec mergirur - I adore this motto/saying and would have loved to own it. It wasn't even that expensive. Hermès scarfs certainly aren't everybody's cup of tea, so... On the other hand I was lucky enough to find a unique belt at the last Hermès sale ever conducted on German soil prior to the Sale location being changed to Paris. It basically is a scarf with Barenia leather straps! And not for the waist, but rather wide enough to be worn closer to the hips. It is one of a kind and I am so happy to have found and bought it. Nobody else has it :D. I also found and grabbed a hand knit scarf in a Norwegian knitting pattern in similar colors as said belt with a label indicating the hand knit part :). I have amazing purses from the glorious time the Daniel Swarovski haute couture brand was still a thing. Very expensive for what it is, i. e. glass costume jewelry- but the pieces are amazing. I have several items I have a giant cuff with crystals from white to smoky quartz to light grey set in silver colored setting - Celine Dion owns one of those. I only get these items out of their original packing/boxes to polish them like Elizabeth Taylor. I also have one of their bags. Those were famously expensive, but worth every penny. I have worn mine only once, several years after its purchase.To the wedding of my ex mother in law. My ex and me even took the time to count the crystals once. Something like 9000 on that bag, from body to handle. A thing of beauty when worn in combination with a subdued outfit. Silk lining. Still in impeccable condition - once worn. Labels still attached, of course. Still have the receipt and everything. I once lost a crystal on a bracelet. It was sent to Paris for remedial maintenance. My ex found a 50s costume jewelry piece brooch - it is an overflowing cornucopia of crystals. Very thoughtful present. We both are Libras. Ruinous. I should write a book I guess :D. Sorry, but accessories are my fave. Don't get me started on shoes.. I am too poor to buy affordable (cheap) shoes. As Goethe said: Excuse the long winded letter. I did not have enough time to write a shorter one
