    Customer complains that the engine stalls / shuts off during warm weather and he has to wait 10 - 15 minutes before it will restart.

    Congratulations for the excellent information, I have a bmw e46 320d 136hp and it also turns off when the ambient temperature is above 28 degrees, but I can't find the fuel pump control module, could you help me ... thank you very much

    Nice video, I have seen some people apply heat sink paste to the back of the module, any thoughts on that?

      I haven't thought of that, but it seems like a good idea to help pull some of the heat away from it. As I'm sure you know, heat and vibration kills modules. Give it a try!

    You can test all of these things with one phone app. "Protool". I did everything they did in this except for probing the wire but it wasn't necessary because the app told me the voltage coming to it from it and what it was doing as well it matched the ekpm3 to the vin of the car with the push of a choice. Boom done.

    Hi me 318d 2010 e90 automatic car died when i stayed on the traffic lights but its died when I try to go i push the acceleration pedal and stall and died i chage a battery now its not died but only stall any ideea please the car running fine start oky idle ok only that problem i dont know if its that modulator or not thanks

    I'm programming one in today on a 2012 F10 today. Finally caught the voltage drop out on a scanner after following the BMW SIB about replacing in-tank fuel pump and updating DME 🙄

    Hi! How are you? Great video! I got the same problem and I have changed the ekpm and programmed it. But the car still shuts off and kept blowing the No.70 fuse, do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

      Hi, could be a short in the red / black wire between the ekpm and fuse box or a faulty terminal 30g relay. I'm not sure where that relay is but I believe it is integrated into the under dash fuse box. Good luck!

    Bought the same exact car, had the same exact symptoms that your customer was having, replace the fuel pump control module, still a long crank no start, replace the fuel pump, still a long crank no start, also program the fuel module after install.
    Installed two new camshaft sensors, long crank no start, new crankshaft positioning sensor, long crank no start, new battery, long crank no start
    I’m lost lol

      @@FearfullyUnafraid well then unfortunately you will need the special tool to check fuel pressure. Have you checked for any data pids which might show fuel pressure with your scanner?

    Ok so I can get to all this. Very good vid BTW. I'm currently about to fix this same issue. My concern would be, if the original module fails due to thermal shutdown. What's to stop the new module from eventually doing the same. Preventative measures for that should be taken or u will likely be dealing with this again in the future

      My hope is that when buying a brand new ekpm module, bmw has manufactured it to last longer. A new module will likely outlast the rest of the vehicle.

    I changed my fuel regulator because my old one was leaking. My car was running normal with the leak nothing crazy. After I replaced it I went to a gas station and filled it up half way. The car turned off on my like if I had no fuel pressure. So that happend I took it to a mechanic and got oem replaced part. ( I haven’t filled up the gas take half way yet) but now it would run for like 10 mins and then it would start acting up like misfiring and it would turn off like if it had no fuel pressure. I waiting for a bit and it turned back on like Normal then another like 10 mins the same thing started to happen. Do you think it’s the chip? Or my fuel pump? I don’t have a specific code. Mechanic told me my injectors are the only things bad but I don’t think the injectors would cause my car to do all this. Thank you.

      I have not dealt with a similar problem such as you are having. Rather then give you guesses, I suggest getting a proper diagnosis done by a technician that actually knows what they are doing. That will save you time and money in the end.

    I am having an issue with my 2009 328i xdrive BMW (e90). It runs for about 7-9 miles, then stalls out. It has a transmission speed sensor code, other than that there is nothing as far as codes. Could the transmission speed sensor cause it to stall? I changed the fuel pump control module and reprogrammed it with INPA, which made no difference. Also installed a new fuel pump and injectors also. After it stalls, it doesn't start back up unless you shut everything off, pull the key out and wait 5-10 minutes. Then it will start very rough and be a challenge to drive back home. It won't run correctly again until it fully cools down.

      Do you have access to a bmw specific scanner that can scan every module in the vehicle? If so, please post the specific code numbers and what module they are from.

      @@azcarkeyscomputersllc3315 hi, hope you don't mind the hijacking. I've got 2 codes: 2A82 and 2F9A. What could the cause and solution be? I've had 3 workshops telling me they would need to strip my entire engine to find the issue, but they're just after money. Hopefully you'll be able to pin point the reason and the fix so that I don't get ripped off by these thugs. 2006 BMW 525i with 325i engine. Thank you

      Hello, you can search Google for the offline version of rheingold ISTA and use that to program in a new module with a k+dcan cable or ICOM interface. That would be your cheapest option.

    My 2011 328ix randomly stalls after a 15-20 min drive and will restart after about a 15 min wait, then runs fine. The next morning I got the code 6292 and 6293 when I scanned. Does this sound like the fuel pump control module? Would you get the code when scanning the car while it's running?

      Based on your symptom and codes, I suspect your fuel pump control module is failing when warm (exactly how the module in my video did). To prove the fault, you have to connect a scope and test the wiring as I did in my video. But most like its your module.

    Already disconnect battery sensor. Alternator and oil level sensor and it still won't stop working. I want to think that it is the auxiliary water pump that no longer works

      You need to connect scope and re-create the problem to find out what is causing it. Maybe the large power wire on the back of the fuse box is starting to fail?

      If you do the necessary testing, you will find out what needs to be replaced. I don't remember what DTC it was throwing in the EKPM, but it was something along the line of "voltage or current malfunction".

    Hello, after replacing and before relearning the new module, did the car loose compression? My mechanic switched mine and said he relearned it but car will not start and has 60psi compression on all cylinders.

      No compression loss on this vehicle. Did your mechanic try squirting a little bit of oil in each cylinder to see if the compression would increase and the car would start?

    Hello! I have a 2007 328i and the car stalls while driving and goes off, the idle of the car its pretty rough and goes off ive tried cleaning the vanos selenoids and i replaced the mass air flow sensor but t wasnt that, i hooked up a scanner and shows 2 codes which are 629A fuel control output stage over temperature and 6299 fuel pump control output stage overtemperature we replaced the battery the failure stopped but after a while the failure is worse now the car doesnt last more than 1 minute idling you think its the fuel pump control module?

      Yes, or run jumper cables from the bmw to another running vehicle nearby.

    My 2010 328i xdrive is having the same problem. Only difference is it will only stall while driving. It will run all day long while it's parked. Could this be the same issue? Also why does the temperature outside affect a module that is inside of the vehicle?

      Are you able to scan for fault codes? The ekpm module will usually produce a fault code that may confirm a faulty ekpm. The module is usually under the rear bench seat and gets quite warm. The higher the outside temperature, the higher the inside temperature.

      A good used ekpm from the same model will work. The Launch scan tool should be able to encode it. Only a brand new module will require software programming. A good used module will only need encoding.

    But I disconnect the battery while the car is hot and the next day when the battery is connected, the water pump works normally because the pump stops working. Even when cold the car

      No, I don't think you can. Autel logs into the bmw servers when programming.

      @@visarelezi3383 if it is brand new, then it needs programing. Used module is already programmed and most of the time it is plug and play (sometimes requires coding).

    I just replaced my fuel control module after my e90 kept randomly shutting off. Replacing it seemed to fix the stalling issue this far however now it doesn't always start on the first try. Now if I go into a store and come back to it 20 minutes later. It won't start until I lock the doors and let the car reset. Any idea what could be the issue now?

      Did you put a used ekpm in it? Sometimes the software is wrong and will need to be updated.

      Yes, absolutely. The module controls the pump at all times.

      @@azcarkeyscomputersllc3315 ok. I checked voltage to the pump out of the module, and it sends just a bit morw than 12v. I replaced the pump and still no prime and delayed starting, but a bit better. Is the pressure regulator supposed to engage upon recieving voltage? , cause I applied direct battery voltage and nothing happened, and also verified voltage coming out of the connector and thats working.

      @@azcarkeyscomputersllc3315 I did not, when I checked the fuel rail for fuel it didn't shoot anything, so I knew something was definitely wrong. I am getting from the ekpm2 module, and the car starts, but what I do to prime the fuel system is, I press the start and press it to turn off, wait a couple of seconds, a d on the second "push start" ,it turns on no problem. Not sure if it's the regulator , since I also replaced the pump.

    So you got power and ground to module but it is hot and that is why it is confirmed bad? I'm confused....what are we looking for in terms of voltage/power in this situation?

      Verify power and ground coming to the ekpm module. The ekpm module sends power to the fuel pump. Module overheats and cut power to the fuel pump. In this video I am probing the power going to the fuel pump to prove that the overheating module is dropping the power.

    its fuel control unit , its common for 535 2009 , it come a history code EKPS , its o dangerous not to be fixed and coded it .

    How did you remove that part of the back seat? Also do all Autel products program new fuel pump modules? I want to reprogram a new fuel pump module myself without going to the stealership. Which Autel product is best for a 2013 bmw 328i? Thank you great video!

      That part of the backseat snaps off. I'm not completely sure which autel products will offer online programming for bmws but I am a personally using the Maxisys Pro. I believe the Maxisys Pro, Maxisys Elite and maybe Autel Ultra line of scanners (latest released products) all offer bmw online programming.

      Only requires programming if the module is brand new. If it's used, you just simply default code it with any diagnostic scanner and you'll be good to go.

      and what im sayin is , if i replaced ekpm3 module with a new same model make ekpm3 module would i have to program with ista?

      @Jack here if the ekpm module is brand new, it must be programmed / coded. ISTA can do it yes. What scanner do you have?

    My car stalls and sometimes gas wont accelerate takes super long to respond but I turn the car of and on again and it works perfectly again anything u know might be

      I suspect based on your description you may have an issue with your throttle body. Have you tried scanning for codes? Also, have a look inside the throttle body and see if it is dirty? Maybe a good cleaning will help it out!

      @@jorarr5174 have you checked your DME for water intrusion? Corrosion the DME pins can cause all sorts of problems.

      Do a full system scan and see if there are any fault codes in the ekpm module.

      It is the Autel maxisys 908pro. The IM608 does not perform online programming unfortunately.

      PDX Autoworks can you tell us step by step how you hooked up your j box ? when you say subscription , is that with autel ? or bmw ? via internet. this is where i’m having difficulty. are you hooking up either net cable to your laptop, then to the j box ? then to the scanner?

      Very common failure. Most likely you'll need to replace your fuel pump control module just as I did in the video.

      Do you have the ability to scan every control module for fault codes? If so, check inside the ekpm module for fault codes and post them here.

    I have 528i 2008, P0116e Air Mass flow sensor Signal electrical, P0171 Bank 1 system too lean, and Bank 2 system too lean...car runs a while surges stubbles then shuts off wait a while and start it repeats. Gas mileage is horrible also

      Hi. The P0171 & P0174 are most likely a direct result of the P116E code. Here is what the BMW service information suggests to check:
      Possible Fault Causes
      Range violation, defective sensor or signal wire has fallen off.
      Repair Procedures
      1 . Visual inspection of plug-in contacts (at both MAF and DME ends, check for corrosion and loose pin fitment / damaged pins).
      2. Measure sensor wire power supply and ground (possible intermittent contact, you will need a wiring diagram to know which wire is which).
      3. Replace MAF sensor if step 1 & step 2 pass.

      @@1Ray-Ray I would go straight to the DME and unplug the connectors to check for corrosion / damage. If connectors / pins look good then either a damaged wire or faulty DME.
