    They have at least done the date in a better integrated way than Hamilton. For me this is better than the original

    I'm usually anal about date windows and prefer no date but to be perfectly frank and honest with you - this date window doesn't bother me. The black background blends in with the almost-black dial. It look pretty harmonious I think. I would prefer no-date with either NH35 or NH38. Ghost positions don't bother me, so long as the crown is setup to spin freely and not change actual gears which could gum up the movement. Pulling out to one extra position is really no issue. I should be getting this exact piece delivered either tomorrow or the day after - am looking forward to it.

    Actually, the Hamilton that Balany is going for here has the date window in the same position. Hamilton has it outlined in white and pushes the “15” a touch to the left. I’m one of those guys that prefers a date on my watches: I will admit, most would look better without a date window.

    I agree it would be better as a no date, but even the way it is isn't a real deal breaker. Baltany should put a small single "B" on the buckle and the same on the crown, it would be a nice finishing touch. Hopefully by the time the next Aliexpress sale rolls around they will offer a NH38 no date version.

    The tandorio homage of this watch is pretty good too. They even have a titanium case version as well.

    Hey mate, good video 👍.
    Ironically date window is what I like at most because blended perfectly with the dial and doesn’t interrupt the symmetry.
    Best regards

    NH38 and no date this would have been a terrific choice for a good field watch.

    This is a great budget option for those who can't afford the Khaki or just don't want to spend the money. The Khaki also struggles with the date window, especially the 42mm version. That's why I opted for the day/date Khaki.

    • @TheWatcherReviews

    Great video, thank you. I love this watch but when you added your own strap it just went to another level. Do you have a link, or manufacturer name for that strap?

    I just got mine today. Great watch especially since I got it for $119usd during the sale. I would have preferred a no date but the way they have the date doesn’t bother me like it does you. I also immediately dumped the strap and put it in something else. I have a couple Hamiltons and this will make a nice beater when I don’t want to wear one of them

  • @watch-box

    Got to agree with the date window - I'd rather have a ghost position and no date visible.
    Shame, as its a great dial/case, and I rather like these straps once they are worn in - very reasonable price too.
    Hopefully the V2 will address the date.
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts as always.

    I agree with you that the date window is very awkward. It would look a million times better with no date!

  • @SheshankReddyS
    @SheshankReddyS ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One way to approach this problem is to have shrunk the overall case a little bit. San Martin should have done the same with their GS Diver homage with the PT5000. Just like date-less dials, smaller watches are also gaining popularity.

  • @adk7962
    @adk7962 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree with your critique regarding the date window. I'd been scrutinizing potential watch purchases during the current 11/11 sale, and I had been very close to ordering this one (and had been pretty enthusiastic to do so) until I noticed the proximity of the date window to the number 15. Ever since, I've kind of fixated on that and probably will not purchase the watch because of it. It's a shame, really, because there's so much else to like about it.

  • @that_which_is_not
    @that_which_is_not ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I can handle the date window, it’s a function I really use so can let it go. Deffo not perfect but for the price, that thing is a banger ✌️

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it is good, but i think on that dial u need a white date wheel to distinguish it and it needs to be further out.

      @@TheWatcherReviews you’re right, it’s great that we are being offered such high quality watches at this price. There’s no reason these subtle changes to elevate them shouldn’t be possible however. Thanks for replying, have a good day

      @@TheWatcherReviews Sort of like a Timex Expedition field watch I've had for years, date window is like that. I got used to it. Some prefer symmetry over function, I can respect that. I refer to the date quite often in my business so that's why I need it. Love the watch, I think I will get it. That brown strap you had looks great with it.

    I own the Hammy, and speaking with perfect 20/20 hindsight - I would probably only opt for the original due to the 80 power reserve.

    Good review, definitely better if it didn't have the date, but apart from that, I think 100m WR and a movement I could regulate make it better than the original.

    Both the Baltany and the Hamilton (and the two chronographs you showed) are homages to military watches from the 1930s or 1940s. I don't think it's a matter of Baltany copying Hamilton.
    As far as the date window is concerned, the position of the window is determined by the movement. It has to be where it is. In my opinion, if the date window for a particular movement is in an inconvenient place for your dial design, you should just omit it. I agree the the date window on this Baltany is just wrong, and I'd rather see this watch with no date.

  • @johnjones928
    @johnjones928 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    A date window is a must for me, but it shouldn't look like an afterthought. I'd actually prefer it at the 6 o'clock position with an outline around the opening. I have a couple sub $45 Timex that do a better job than this one does esthetically.

  • @brianmsahin
    @brianmsahin ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Zee, it is a nice looking watch. When you started the video, I was momentarily wondering why they made the 3 so small til I realized it was a date. Lol. And yes, this watch would be far better without the date, it's too squashed and knocks the balance off. I'd even accept a ghost position with the NH35 rather than the date. The dial colour is quite good looking.

    DON'T buy a baltany watch. My baltany watch completely failed after wearing it 4 times (less than 25 hours total wrist time). I contacted baltany requesting their address so I could ship it to them to be repaired / replaced, it has a 2 year warranty. They refused to accept the watch back and said to have it serviced locally, despite the movement completely failing. Unbelievable, they are NOT a legitimate company. Their ‘warranty’ is fake. RUN from this scam company.

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, Baltany actually reached out to me on this comment and asked that you contact their email address on the card, they suspect you bought the watch from one of their distributors and not them direct. They are willing to help!
