It's a really clever idea and super easy to do on Amiga. It's no coincidence that there's exactly 4 characters: the Amiga had 4 individual voices that could be playing a digitized sound sample or not playing anything. Music was arranged as "MOD"s which are basically a list of notes for each channel that triggers one of the voices to start playing a sample. Each sample is just a recording of a single note played on an instrument. So whenever the music player starts playing a note you just make note of it and start animating the character corresponding to that instrument and when the note ends you stop animating.
@@tylisirn It's all about the "interrupts" baby. Friend of mine was into coding on the amiga back in those days. I've made my share of mods, in Pro Tracker, too. Nothing great though.
You can't make it up, I'm a 42 year old grown woman who is not a gamer or anything etc...But I searched the internet for this because I couldn't get it out of my head 😂 I loved this game when I was soo young...Crazy how the mind works right
The sounds and music in Amiga games. That's why I loved this old machine so much. I managed to get an Amiga 500! :) Back then I also used to listen to this music, I recorded it on tape. Groovy!
Pure classic! Remember this in primary school in 1991, if you got 10 house points for being good in class you would get to play this on the only pc in the entire school lol, good times.
I love the way that at one point Chuck goes crazy with his guitar playing, his hand is literally a blur! lol I don't remember the game at all, but I DO remember this crazy intro. Its up there with all the classic Amiga tunes, like Cannon Fodder's "War - Never Been So Much Fun" and that funky Gods intro music.
That's right. It was a fantastic computer. It still is!! When I was young I had a lot of fun with this machine...those times are over...no fun with PC anymore :-)
Truly one of the greatest Amiga soundtracks. I also used to leave it playing just to hear it. Would be awesome the hear a good band cover it with actual instruments.
AWESOME GAME, i completed this game when i was 6 on the Amiga 500 hehe... SO MANY MEMORIES, i miss the 90's so very much. happy time's made my day mate thank you!
ohh myy does this still crack me up!!! the music is fab ( and should be used on my name is earl ....in a chase scene..lol).. and still larffin at chucks flat foot at being charasmatically out of time...wow...funny funny..... the theme was better then the game though... but imagine the programming it took back then for such small laughs....WELL I NOTICED...lol... sad sad sad. yet ..not...ya git me... x thanks for posting this pal.....x
Ti confesso di aver titubato parecchio, temevo di aver scaricato un virus, poi l'ho aperto... Fantastico, è proprio la musica di Shadow of the Beast! Grazie della dritta!
You are correct!..... Mathew Simmons AKA.. 4Mat of Anarchy did the tune for CORE. He also did CarVup.. but core was upset coz they found out that most of the tunes for that game had allready be used in an Anarchy demo a few months before! lol Signed Judge Drokk of ANARCHY 1989-2003
I m sure the music at Sega games like this or Super Hang On are unconscious reasons why I later loved instrumental guitar songs. I didnt hear this one for decades!
When I was nine years and my brother was twelve, my parents bought us our first computer. It was a Amiga500s. The year was 1991. One of the games we had was Chuck Rock, which is exactly in this video. It was great, brilliant, witty, fun and infinitely beautiful. Spain also beat the evil Gary Critter, hahahaha!
I had this song in my mind and finally I found it. Good memories of a great game... ITA.: Avevo questa musica in testa da un po' e finalmente l'ho trovata. Bei ricordi, gran gioco...
I remember doing homework while this song played over and over on my amiga...indeed it was the good 'ol days. My personal favourites were, besides this classic game theme, the Super Cars II intro and menu music, and all Lotus games. I would even load the games sometimes just to listen to their themes. If there are some amiga game cover bands out there, I'd love to know.
There was a cheat code you put in on this screen and Chuck would smile if you'd put it in correctly. Cant remember the code or what it did but I do remember it was a thing.

If you compare to some of the other platforms availabe at the time, that's trying to perform this theme, the Amiga really shows its superiority in the sound department back then.
I played this game on sega and then I just usually let this play until my sister got mad at me cause it was annoying her so I turned the volume up louder lol
Oh wow, I've heard this on a bootlegged Genesis game. Then a streamer I watch, Vinny Vinesauce, played this game at one point and I recognized it as the theme used for that bootlegged game. Now it's being recommended to me today and it slaps
Description says it was removed from SNES and Genesis(Mega Drive) versions, but I just got finished watching a comparison video with 10 different platforms/versions. SNES and Genesis both had the band playing the theme.
I remember playing Sega Mega Drive (known as Sega Genesis in the USA 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦) and Nintendo Game Boy versions of Chuck Rock on the PC as an emulator at the training centre in the late 2000s. It looks good. Chuck Rock was developed and published by a former British video game company Core Design (who were famous for the original Tomb Raider series and I think Square Enix retains the Core brand and IPs) for the Atari ST and Amiga computers in 1991. A Commodore 64 port followed in 1992 and an Amiga CD32 version in 1994. The game was subsequently published by Krisalis Software for the Acorn Archimedes. A defunct British video game company Virgin Interactive published the game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Master System, and the Game Gear. Sony Imagesoft (also defunct and it has been folded into Sony Computer Entertainment which is now known as Sony Interactive Entertainment since 1995) published the game for the Sega Mega-CD, Super NES, and Game Boy. Anyway that music in Amiga version sounds good and it's also very interesting.
In my 30+ years of gaming it’s still one of the greatest theme tunes of all time.
Absolute masterpiece
yes sir!
also the game was extremely nice
Thumbs up if you are listening to this at cranked up volume in 2024
Are earphones allowed?
My D&D group objected
This is my favorite video game song of all time! I use to crank this all the way up on the television!!!
Gotta love how the charactes are not moving when their instrument is not being played in the song. Still love this!
not only that, the part where ophelia plays the keyboard!
@@Zontar82 Proper epic!

Masterpiece of a theme.
Gold. I still can't believe how intensely this song rocks. I hereby vow to play this live someday!
Please do!
If you send me your guitar line, I add my drum track. Then we need a bassist and a keyboard... On my channel you can find my drum cover.
@@_Reynolds_ Saw the cover. It slapped.
As an adult I realise how good gaming music used to be. This is a masterpiece. This is actually real rock music!
Only Chuck would let the man who kidnapped his wife drum in his band.
I think that's how he knows her. I can only assume that Chuk kicked him out after this whole... adventure
Probably wasn't playing for the ending credits 😄
Sometimes music has to come above personal differences
One of the best game themes ever !
But hard. Hit detection was a bit funky. Chuck Rock 2 is also great!
this still plays over in my head randomly at 38 years old lol, just had to search it and listen. One of the best sound tracks ever. Mega drive days!

I never play that game before, but I truly like this song. Very nice and don't need nostalgia to listen to it.
This is the title theme to end all title themes. Also it was on the genesis version, thats where I first heard it.

Nope, the guitar from 0:15 in this video sounds similar to Tubular Bells pt 1 at around 11:30, just much faster.
WOW what a catch! obscure * obscure = very obscure.

The music isn't removed from mega drive and SNES, but simply remaked for the sound capacity for the hardware of these video games!
I like to listen this song also with single left or right channel, then mix, fading in /out try it :)
