I can't believe you didn't get the two-faced tanner reference, especially when you showed the reference in the video. "Undercover cop," "strangely animated," "Two-Faced Tanner." You're killing Tanner, the main character in the Driver series. Yes, in fact payphones did receive phone calls. I have completed this game so any times that i memorized pretty much everything, from dialogues, map shortcuts, packages, stunts, rampages, easter eggs, unique vehicles and weapons etc I really love this game and its atmosphere, and even with all the annoyance, it never gets boring to me. Cheers P.S. Yup, he killed her at the end
This video made me realise how little I actually remember of 3 outside of messing around with the cheats and reskinning Claude in MS Paint. (I uh. I was about 8.)
"Like any other nothing burger missions this one doesn't even serve to introduce any sort of mechanic" WRONG, It introduces Joey who is a mechanic. also Farewell, Chunky Lee Chong is passable in 3 ways: 1. chase him down like a mad man and maybe get into a car chase 2. free aim/lock on kill him just out of range of the cutscene and before he knows you exist 3.rig Chonky's car with a bomb
You know what's funny? At some point while editing, I realized the same point about the mission introducing Joey who was a mechanic. But I forgot to add the addendum. I kept remembering I had forgotten something, but couldn't remember what I'd forgotten
I've played through the campaign a couple times. To make The Exchange easier, collect the hidden packages beforehand until a sniper rifle spawns at your safehouse. When the mission starts and you leave the Mansion, speed down to your Shoreside Vale safehouse just down the hill, collect the sniper rifle, then speed to the dam. You should have just enough time if you're fast. Then simply snipe everyone (including the truck that will come at you, snipe it until it explodes). Makes the whole thing easier without basically even having to engage anyone.
I always read the gunshot at the ending as Claude killing her, but I also never really thought much about it. Thinking further into it, it does raise the question of why he'd waste time rescuing her just to then kill her. That being said, the devs probably just put it in there as a gag without much thought behind it.
For Escort, if I'm remembering right the trick is to actually take another route to Shoreside Vale, so you're FAAAR away from the truck you're escorting. That way the Cartel guys won't spawn since you're too far away. Still can be tricky, you'll need to be in spawning distance towards the end regardless but at least the Cartel have a much smaller window to work in. EDIT: Oh, spoke too soon, lol.
1:29:36 no, rockstar already confirmed that it was a sound glitch, but it's weird like... Why there will be a sound glitch in that exact moment... Anyway good vid I agree on most of this list. 12:17 Well his name (El Burro) literally does mean "The Donkey" For Silence The Sneak, if I remember correctly, you can hold the grenade trigger to affect the distance? 43:07 Oh wow, that's just what Avery Carrington said in Vice City 46:50 Travis Baker from Crime Boss Rockay City and Toni Cipriani (From GTA III only) share voice actors!
The only way I beat bomb da base act 2 when I was a kid was by pinning 8ball under a car, killing all the enemies, then moving the car so 8 ball could plant the bomb unhindered
This is more or less a suggestion type of request, but it'd be neat if you looked at all the classic mega man and/or mega man x games. I think having a ranking video of all the weapons that popped up throughout the years of this series would be interesting to compare (as well as the traversal items)
Under Surveillance has different audio in the later versions because they used files from older versions of the game. The original PS2 version was changed because of the 911 attacks, Rockstar likely wanted to avoid any controversy by using the FBI as enemies the player needed go kill. This is also probably why they were turned into the FIB in later entries to make it more into a "parody" than the "real organization" even if it's all still fictional. There's other changes to support this like the mad men mission dialogue changed from referring to them as "suicide bombers" to "madmen" and some other version differences that have been documented online.
I mean Maria was the catalyst for all the bad things really so if he didn't shoot her he might have turned it on himself just to get some peace. Even though he was mute, doesn't mean his patience wasn't wearing thin
Comment question: theoretically, Maria's dead. Canonically, it's ambiguous. Even the GTA Wikia says the date of death is possibly 2001. Rockstar themselves have said people believe she's dead and people believe that she's alive. I personally believe that Claude killing Maria is the gunshot; on a technicality; wouldn't Maria be a loose end? Everyone that betrays Claude is dead. Technically; it starts and ends with Catalina. But; Maria is Salvatore's wife/widow. Wouldn't it make sense that Maria would at least try to hire someone to kill Claude?
I recently just beat GTA 3 this month, and man did this game test my patience. This game pissed me off the most out of all of the games in the series. In the long run I had fun, but I dont think I'll be touching this game anytime soon.
I said this in another comment here but I genuinely wish the Definitive Edition was a remake of the original three 3D era GTA games and also add remakes of Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories instead of the poor excuse of a "remake" we actually got instead. Personally, I'd mostly remake 3 by refining and adding more missions, more characters (Darkel, Major Hale, Toshiro Kasen) and making Liberty City more bigger like what they initially plannned (Like the prison island Claude, 8-Ball, and the OJG were going to be sent to, the chemical and power plant, having the airport be in Staunton Island, the military base, reusing and making the unused wireframe of a bigger Shoreside Vale in the actual game, adding the Ghost Town from the opening cutscene into this new Shoreside Vale, along with the ferry station replacing the airport (now repurposed and moved from LCS), etc). With Vice City, I'd properly go through it with a fine-toothed comb to make it better paced and fix the architecture and building planning of Vice City (just look at the map layout properly, it's a MESS!!), while San Andreas mostly just has the "Return to Los Santos" section better paced. This could've remade and refined all five prominent 3D era games and made them as good as they could've been. It's kinda sad that mods are our only respite from this, with 3 being the runt of the litter with how outdated its code is compared to VC and SA, which have far better mods (NextGen Edition and Stars and Stripes respectively), but not for lack of trying though (LC'01), while LCS and especially VCS (especially because of Phil Collins) being trapped on the PSP and PS2 with no PC ports in sight.
I get why they had to cut the last Donald Love mission given everything that happened IRL. But I agree it was disappointing that someone else wasn't put in or that it was just left out.
6:38 “Decoy” is actually a decent mission. All you have to do is take the tunnel and you can easily avoid the helicopter. All you’re really facing is cop cars.
12:22 Thought that was "The Donkey" from GTA1 than an actual Donkey. I find It weird you don't mention the final mission having your third safehouse on the way makes not only collecting the packages really pay off, but If you had the foresight to save the bulletproof patriot In the garage from the end of one set of missions you can just plow through everything at the dam.
21:53 I think they did. Like there's a ton of examples of that in different films, but I've never used one in any way. I do believe payphones had phone number attached to them but I'm not 100% sure
1:21:15 Just Asian in British English refers specifically to Indians and Pakistanis and Oriental doesn't have the same negative connotation over there so that's actually fine.
How is Espresso 2 go not last? That was easily the most irritating and difficult mission of the whole game and I know a bunch of people that got stuck on it and they never played again myself included until i beat it as an adult
Fun thing me and my family found out about the 'Give Me Liberty' intro mission is that getting the hidden packages on Portland is easiest to do first, then take 8 Ball to the hideout
4:55 this game was made by an English speaking company and its main market was in English speaking countries right? I wonder why the subtitles are so different from the dialogue, usually that's something you see in fan translations of foriegn language games/film
1:06:59 This "DEALER MINCED!!." text always felt so weird. Like they had different style ideas and this phrase was from an older concept if that makes sense.
What is left of crime in liberty city at the end of gta 3? The yakuza wiped out, cartel wiped out, leones severly weakened, there does not seem to be anything left.
The Southside Hoods, Yardies, Diablos and Triads (Despite being weakened) are still very much around and all but one of them hate you if you finish all their missions.
The Yakuza definetly weren't wiped out, only Kenji and Asuka died. But I guess they can replace them easily, because Yakuza organizations are pretty well organized ones. And maybe Asuka&Kenji weren't even the main leaders, since none of them were called oyabun(the big boss of the organization) in the game. So it is possible that there is a bigger Yakuza boss who we didn't meet in the game. Purple Nincs is the only gang that were certainly wiped out. The Cartel and the Triads became insignificant and weak that's for sure, but some gangs remained strong or became even stronger than before. Maybe the yardies took over the Spank distribution ring from the Cartel and they became real powerful. And the Red Jacks also could invest money to upgrade the gang. So the criminal underworld of Liberty City is alive and well.
I genuinely wish the Definitive Edition was a remake of the original three 3D era GTA games and also add remakes of Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories instead of the poor excuse of a "remake" we actually got instead. 1:16:27 hey tactical bacon? u also forgot to mention that this mission also comes with a bit of a game-breaking bug involving the purple nines ceasing to exist & that program passing over to other save game data.
53:35 - The voice actor of Ray Machowski is Robert Loggia. The actor who played Frank in Scarface. Ray was of Polish descent. Proper way to pronounce his last name is something like Mahovsky, "a" like in a >>carhalo
I gotta be honest, after that jab at that GTA Advance Mission, I kinda want a GTA Advance Mission ranking
Yes, in fact payphones did receive phone calls. The number was usually on the phone itself and odds are you could send a pager message (remember those?) to whoever you needed to talk to and then they would call said number. It is basically text and call before cellphones became popular. Man things are so easy now
Still have best atmosphere in all 3d gta. I would like to see same ranking videos on 1 and 2.
Ice cream truck... Partner, THE RAREST VEHICLE IN THE GAME GOT IN YOUR WAY, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!!!
I have completed this game so any times that i memorized pretty much everything, from dialogues, map shortcuts, packages, stunts, rampages, easter eggs, unique vehicles and weapons etc
I really love this game and its atmosphere, and even with all the annoyance, it never gets boring to me. Cheers
P.S. Yup, he killed her at the end
Same this is my favorite gta game
This video made me realise how little I actually remember of 3 outside of messing around with the cheats and reskinning Claude in MS Paint. (I uh. I was about 8.)
"Like any other nothing burger missions this one doesn't even serve to introduce any sort of mechanic"
WRONG, It introduces Joey who is a mechanic.
also Farewell, Chunky Lee Chong is passable in 3 ways:
1. chase him down like a mad man and maybe get into a car chase
2. free aim/lock on kill him just out of range of the cutscene and before he knows you exist
3.rig Chonky's car with a bomb
You know what's funny? At some point while editing, I realized the same point about the mission introducing Joey who was a mechanic. But I forgot to add the addendum. I kept remembering I had forgotten something, but couldn't remember what I'd forgotten
I hate the missons in this game. Every 3D GTA after this one outclasses this one by a wide mile. And that is a good thing
You have 106k subscribers you’re well on your way to 125k subscribers. I am thinking you might get it within a year maybe sooner.
I personally never thought the gunshot was diagetic. I always thought it was just a sound to transition between the ending conversation and credits.
I never had trouble with Decoy, i always just drove thru the airpoirt
You can just hide in the subway, the police doesn't spawn here
Was such a pleasure to listen to your voice for hour and a half
"..." - Claude, 2001.
Makes the whole thing easier without basically even having to engage anyone.
i unironically learnt to fly the dodo for marked man because i didnt know the tunnels are opened
I always read the gunshot at the ending as Claude killing her, but I also never really thought much about it. Thinking further into it, it does raise the question of why he'd waste time rescuing her just to then kill her.
That being said, the devs probably just put it in there as a gag without much thought behind it.
13:34 - 13:39 An ice cream truck? It was probably Sweet Tooth. lol
WE LOVE THESE VIDS DUDE KEEP EM COMING
1:29:36 no, rockstar already confirmed that it was a sound glitch, but it's weird like... Why there will be a sound glitch in that exact moment... Anyway good vid I agree on most of this list. But espresso2go in 8th place is just weird imo, this mission is bad nothing in that mission is good. The best part of this mission is when you finally beat is after 69 tries.
12:17 Well his name (El Burro) literally does mean "The Donkey"
For Silence The Sneak, if I remember correctly, you can hold the grenade trigger to affect the distance?
43:07 Oh wow, that's just what Avery Carrington said in Vice City
46:50 Travis Baker from Crime Boss Rockay City and Toni Cipriani (From GTA III only) share voice actors!
I don't care if some missions are just cutscenes since most missions are actual gameplay
Regardless, the in game models are the same (gangsters) so seemingly this change/censor was implemented before the FBI enemy models were made.
All I can say is thank you for the video!
I would love this for every gta game
21:53 I think they did. Like there's a ton of examples of that in different films, but I've never used one in any way. I do believe payphones had phone number attached to them but I'm not 100% sure
1:21:15 Just Asian in British English refers specifically to Indians and Pakistanis and Oriental doesn't have the same negative connotation over there so that's actually fine.
In bling bling scamble, you can actually blow up your competition taking them out leaving you a easy victory
The way you said donkeys at 12:23 had me laughing longer than it should've
I do think Claude killed her at the end. Great video man.
Great video! Claude is the funniest character in the entire series!
I dont think Claude was fooling around with that last shot
Honestly after watching this in full it really has made me want to play throught this game for the first time
That wasn’t a gunshot, that’s just how Claude speaks.
In the mission bait I think the yakuza did not die if you used the ramp after luring the gang members
How is Espresso 2 go not last? That was easily the most irritating and difficult mission of the whole game and I know a bunch of people that got stuck on it and they never played again myself included until i beat it as an adult
Personally, Claude fired in the air to shut her up...and probably clipped a surviving Columbian in the process. 😄
Nah Maria shot him
@@nickrustyson8124why would she stop talking right after the shot if she did it?
Funniest interpretation of that, some random Columbian on the damn on the aftermath getting clocked by one final bullet shot in the story mode.
Fun thing me and my family found out about the 'Give Me Liberty' intro mission is that getting the hidden packages on Portland is easiest to do first, then take 8 Ball to the hideout
luigis girls was meant to have 2 girls
4:55 this game was made by an English speaking company and its main market was in English speaking countries right? I wonder why the subtitles are so different from the dialogue, usually that's something you see in fan translations of foriegn language games/film
I did the mission farewell chunky Lee Chong by stealing his car then going to 8balls so it exploded killing him
The fuzz ball mission could be cheated in a way by using the coach as it can hold all 8 at once
1:06:59
This "DEALER MINCED!!." text always felt so weird. Like they had different style ideas and this phrase was from an older concept if that makes sense.
Sorry for the constant comments but holy hell Columbia or Colorado is a hilarious line
So the criminal underworld of Liberty City is alive and well.
i hope the entire series go through your rankings, itd be awesome to see getting gtav at the finale knowing how you feel about the game lol
i was listening MSX FM and this showed up, great!
Gta 3 is a legendary game, but the gameplay did not age well, sadly.

Wrong
26:38 You forgot to mention that Luigi's Girls is automatically activated after you beat the first mission, Give Me Liberty.
Kenji missions aren't mandatory for the story
oh shit i used to follow you a ways back then you stopped being recommended, welcome back to the feed! i love your content ( here from twisted metal from like a while ago)
1:16:36 "Lemme in."
Are you gonna do GTA 4 and GTA 5 mission rank as well in the future?
