She is not top tier, as a matter of fact she is pretty weak. The only strong thing about her is her combos. Most of her chain link mix ups can be interrupted by pokes, her normals are really bad and she has no wake up options except her super. She feels strong when you're not familiar with her and can take you by surprise but against an experienced played she is not reliable.

He comes from a long line of Street Fighter games where normals and pokes are the go-to. And while these two games are NOTHING alike, one thing for sure is that he has the normals and poke game DOWN. I was never good at that. Even worse, Angel's normals are horrendous, so I was getting beat out of everything. She was the easiest opponent for him. ... and I always left her as my anchor like she was gonna make all the difference... lol. All he needed to do was beat the first two and Angel would be the cake walk. ... but that was then. ... NOW, a few months into the game, we face each other... and he DREADS my Angel now. Openly expresses to me that he doesn't even WANT to fight her and that he doesn't want me going back into the training room with her... lol. ... honestly, after all the times he thrashed my poor Angel, it feels good to see my hard work come to fruition... that she now strikes fear in him. ... and I haven't even touched a fraction of her speed and potential. Problem is she's too damn fast for my hands that even I, the player have a hard time keeping up with her. ... bottom line is... Angel is a long hard road. But when you've braved enough of it... the results are worth it. She is now deserving of the Anchor position, although, I am told Angel players don't really need to use bars and should be put on point/spear whatever they call it. ... thanks for listening.

NOT RIGHT NOW. ... her appeal to me back then was her VA. She had the weirdest cat-like voice and mannerisms. And cat girls are my biggest weakness, as you probably notice in my profile picture. Further more, Her People's Elbow was another appeal for me since I am a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson as he was hands down my favorite wrestler in the industry. Furthermore, to know that she was actually based on and inspired by The Rock, made me like her even more. ... I always said that one day I would sit down and learn her. ... honestly, didn't see it happening so soon. But her model in this game is nearly flawless. She looks down right amazing from head to toe. In 14, she was a slim thing all over, which was still fine for me, but in 15, they did every proportion justice. I just couldn't ignore her charm this time. ... as for her voice, I believe I read she isn't voiced by the same VA as the older 2D Angels, but the current VA we have right now has done a fantastic job. I can't even complain. ... that said, I do miss some of her older moves and that includes The People's Elbow. It really was the most electrifying move in KOF. ... I have watched several tournament players to see what options are optimal/safe when engaging the enemy and tried my best to adopt those habits in order to close out more openings. And I found that sometimes, cutting a blocked string very early, allows you to MAKE the move safe because the opponent doesn't expect you to stop so early. You won't always get away with that of course, so you just have to choose the most weirdest times to drop the string. Couple that strategy with her Unchained Step for a really unpredictabo set up. ... sorry, couldn't resist the Geese meme. ... you seem to know a lot about Angel. Makes sense being that you've been an Angel player since 2001. I would love to pick your brain on several mysteries that I have yet to understand about her playstyle... lol.
Angel is the definition of a character in a fighting game where if you take the time to learn them then you will be rewarded. She has always been strong to really strong but her execution made it so that many didn't play her. Plus Angel is so fun to watch as well
except is not, you get rewarded with 180 damage off of her block mixups at best, the only way she gets her big damage in is at a big jump in, lets say you get the combo from the block low/high mixup ans you get her 180damage ok cool now the neutral is reset at least some characters get an oki off of their low damage combos but angel you gotta win neutral a ton and thats is not easy cuz poor buttons, ok run speed, bad 2b 2a starter combo from lows cuz she can only combo from up close , the ONLY thing shes got is j.C and some other gimmicky stuff witch you guess it it resets neutral for 100dmg, so having only jump C for neutral makes her extremly predictable you can contested her in the air (cuz she got slow moves for air to airs), theres not much beyond that theres not much room to "master" her since she lacks basic good tools
One thing that just came to me as I watched this: KoF has the coolest grapplers. Blue Mary? Clark? Angel? Even the typical big muscle wrestler guy in KoF has more panache than the Streetfighter wrestlers.
Watching these videos got me wanting to jump back on this game, haven't played it since before the first player pack got released with Rock/B.Jenet/Gato.

I will say it takes some learning but angel has better tools than most people think. Especially now her dash command grab is SUPER hard to punish and the spin goes much further. ALso her jab actually anti airs now.

Pretty much every character has lots of tools like DPs, Projectiles, and stuff like that and while Angel does have a couple tools, most of her’s are just ways to start or extend her Unchain combos. She IS the Unchain combos; if you can’t do them, she will be basically useless. And I think it’s such an cool way to make her different from the other characters; they can spam projectiles, do small but hard hitting combos with lots of specials, or spam certain really good moves but her entire playstyle is “get in there by predicting what the enemy is gonna do or feint them out so you can react and start the combo, extend that shit as long as you can, then cash out and get ready to rush in and do it again”.
She's so weird to be honest. She almost feels out of place among the rest of the roster. I could never figure her out seeing her move list was always like Unchain and then everything relying on wether you could land that first move. Always loved the NESTS fighters, but I always had to swap her out because I just couldn't use her.

I heard one big KoF player say that Angel is really easy to beat if you can lab her out. It really dissuaded me from learning her, since he washed an Angel player as he said it. But maybe the buffs were actually good 🤷♀️
Angel isn't really that difficult, she's just playing a different game. It's a little bit like going from a traditional 2D fighter to a traditional 3D fighter, except you have to commit much faster to Angel's followups than you do in 3D fighters. And her attack strings aren't as baked in, she can be very freeform, but most Angel players narrow her strings down to a few optimal combinations for certain situations. Which again is not unlike 3D fighters, but you don't get as much time to think as you do in Tekken.
i consider angel about the most honest tier char there can be. If you dont know how to play her she sucks is hard to understand. The more you understand about her the better she gets. I dont thing she is OP by any means. Fire ball chars give her a really hard time.

Depends on what you find hard. She has the easiest execution in the game, but weak neutral and a lot of tools to memorize.
Angel isn't really that difficult, she's just playing a different game. It's a little bit like going from a traditional 2D fighter to a traditional 3D fighter, except you have to commit much faster to Angel's followups than you do in 3D fighters. And her attack strings aren't as baked in, she can be very freeform, but most Angel players narrow her strings down to a few optimal combinations for certain situations. Which again is not unlike 3D fighters, but you don't get as much time to think as you do in Tekken.

i consider angel about the most honest tier char there can be. If you dont know how to play her she sucks is hard to understand. The more you understand about her the better she gets. I dont thing she is OP by any means. Fire ball chars give her a really hard time.
