River Pike and Pickerel fishing in New Jersey

- I met up with Ron @FitnessOutdoors for this NJ river Pike and Pickerel experience. Throwing just about everything I brought with me, I finally settled in to a consistent bite. I also ran into Dug @DpuckFishingandOutdoors while fishing the river.
Rod - 7’ medium power spinning
Reel - size 3000
Line - 10lb braid w/ 4’ of 12lb flourocarbon leader
Lures 3-5” swimbaits (hard, soft & jointed)

Nice opening Tony!! Def a lot of debris in there. Was really looking forward to this. Great capture with the swipe n miss at 6:10 Nice you got on a Pike before that. So cool the Pickerel that came out from under the brush to hit you at shore! 1-2-3 peace out 😆😉 Cool to see you guys hook up and also Dug! 10:35 was awesome!! How much of the shoreline can you walk? Can you fish long distances of the river? Nice getting on the Pike and Pickerel! Nice capture of Ron's fish! 17:55 was a nice Pickerel!!!
Thanks brother! Knee boots were a must. There were a lot of small streams to cross and mud to trek through. I’d say a mile in total before running in to private territory. Many areas were too shallow, not holding fish. Snags were the only downside to it all.
That was an excellent production. Such a thorough and quality capture of the November river fishing outing for Northern Pike and Chain Pickerel. I would say you did limit out. Those Pike close ups were magnificent. Getting together for the Pike collaboration was a great idea. Save some fish for next time. 💥🎣🥇

That's some great fishing. What's the difference between pike and pickerel? They look similar to me (lots of treeth).
Color/pattern and a little different fight. I’d eat a pike but haven’t heard of anyone eating a pickerel.
