Chef , 2nd dough ginagamit butter d po oil....tga Bacolod city po aq at fave q ang merci piaya : pronounce piyaya....ube fillings and brown sugar...mas masarap ang gawa ng merci kysa bong2x s....no offense meant
You know what, Red Bean Paste, White Bean Paste, Monggo Paste has the same texture as the Ube Halaya. I bet you can use those as a filling in piyaya too. You can also add Pandan extract to the white bean paste to make a pandan flavour.
I love piaya. I could eat it everyday for merienda. But it’s expensive to buy all the time. It’s a lot cheaper to make it yourselves. I prefer pre-roasting my sesame seeds before I roll them with the piaya before cooking. The sesame seeds become more toasty and tasty.
