There is a distinct reason this man commands the #1 spot for favorite restoration TH-camrs. He's thorough, he's methodical, he's hilarious and now I've learned he's musical!
I really like that you restored the original roller as well as made a replacement, it’s nice to see the original tool respected but also to see it improved!
What an illusion this restoration has given me. I have been using this machine for more than 30 years in the company I work for. Thank you for making me live this nostalgia for old machines, I love them ...
I can see why not much is probably known about the company that made this. It’s such an impractical and messy tool! I can already feel the glue getting all over my hands and making the table sticky. Regardless, it is very important to preserve these tools as they give us a look at how creative people were to find solutions for problems
This is why I love your channel! I half expected a grin at the camera when you were sandblasting, but then you go and make a music video right in the middle. You are very creative and the funniest guy on TH-cam! Thank you so much for brightening up my day!
A post from Hand Tool Rescue! It's going to be a good day! Yours is the restoration channel by which I judge all others... no one else seems to make the grade when it comes to: unique projects, quality of restoration, outstanding results, and entertainment. I loved the musical interlude! Thanks for posting!
notxarb21 The others do have one thing over HTR that he hasn’t been able to do. Others seem to be able to restore rusty plastic cases like rusty blue plastic Makita drills. HTR will never reach their level no matter how low they go. 😉
Am I alone in saying that the "simpler" restorations are the best to watch? I mean that its great to watch something like a 2 man chainsaw or the bandsaw (which I envy on a daily basis) being brought back to working life. It is astounding. Theres just a bit of something extra in giving tools like this, that would have likely been tossed in the trash due to convenience/cost when they were used a 2nd shot. You are a wizard, my friend!
Yay another video from the only real restoration channel!!! I can’t watch more than 30 seconds of the other channels! Too many shortcuts and not enough attention to detail
Yeah there are a few really bad channels out there. Burying something you machined a week ago so you can dig it up, grind off the rust and spray paint it doesn't count as a restoration
Great job H.T.R. that resto came up fantastic brother. The best thing i like about you is your spontaneity, i found myself nodding away during your add lib musical interlude, it was very fitting i thought. Again best resto channel second to none mate. Love ya work.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse that the intro wasn't played, you stop with a mid video music break...AND TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF! Great job as always.
Great restoration as always. I had no idea that was even a thing. Watching you re-file the grooves in the wheels, I thought I was watching Click Spring for a minute. Great job, even without the super campy 80's sitcom intro.
I too love the copper and brass look. Very cool indeed, and it must have been a breath of fresh air to do a relatively simple restoration after that lethal looking two man chainsaw. It was really great to get to meet you and to chat at Makers' Central a couple of weekends ago, you were on my shortlist of TH-cam royalty I had decided I *must* meet! I was just a bit disappointed not to get a sticker off you...
Amazing! Such a good work, as always. Plus: skill, equipment, knowledge of an engineer...surplus knowing how to set it on camera, that shows an amazing creativity and humor. I'm a big fan, eventhough I don't show it normally. But right now (and thats my second comment on YT) your videos are very much fun to look at. Well done, Mr Detail!!! To close it: Keep on working as you do! THX a lot! Greets from Germany!
Another fun and exciting video! Keep them coming. Love the humor you add to your videos. I actually only live about 40 minutes northwest of that address. When I was younger. About 30 years ago. I worked at an auto parts store one street over. I don't think that building is there anymore.
Awesome video as always! I have a pro tip for your bandsaw when you are cutting small objects, but the baseplate has a huge opening around the blade, as seen at 11:36 You can take a sacrificial wooden plate, cut it until it lines up with the rear of the baseplate, then put a pair of visegrips to hold it down. you can now cut the small pieces precisely since the sacrificial plate will provide support all the way in to the blade itself. :)
Another great video who knew you were so musical And such an amazing dancer I finally figured out what to engrave on that wrench “ if a man made it a man can fix it”
I finally got a notification! On time! And I was busy ... oh well, I'll have fun later. Four hours later ... I was squaring & sharpening dollar store chisels with a stone and sandpaper (not allowed to use the bench grinder at midnight somehow). It's nice how factories let you finish making the stuff. Sharp, square and violently shiny. So shiny. I think I have might have a problem
Well done. I really like that you know when to stop cleaning. Sometimes, tools need to show their age. I know it's way too tempting to make everything shiny and bright, but when you think about when these tools were being made, they WERE shiny and bright. Keep up the good work.
8:35 Holy shit! Finally someone that can actually film welding up close! Thank you - not a welder so always wanted to see it up close so I could see what was actually going on in there haha.
I love seeing some of the more obscure tools being used to open & repair things - like the absolute beast scale lockable pliers used to remove a ratchet. : D
You have the most humorous content! I have another trick for you....how to extend the life of the plexiglass viewing panel on your sandblaster. Take a section of metal bug screen (you know, for a door or window). Needs to be metal for durability. Crumple it up, then straighten it out....not perfectly. You want those crinkles. Mount it to the inside of the plexiglass panel with some offsets so that there is about one inch of space between the screen and plexi. You can obviously see through the screen, but it helps to prevent blast media from hitting the plexi.
I couldn't stop laughing when you did that "music". Especially when you banged your head on that sandblaster 😂😂😂 too funny. I love the result. Looking great 👌🤗
Looks more like a code breaking machine than something for gluing. Maybe the glue dissolved the paint on the top so it was plated instead. Thank you for another stress busting video. 👍
I express my opinion here as your keen observer. You're the best there is in this field just a pity that all your other competitors are on the way to get around you. You must start learning more tricks. Go on like this to make me leave everything I do just to see more old things come to life.
What I like most about you is the "no nonsense" restoration style. You get them fully functional and decently looking, but anyone can tell that's an old machine that's been restored. I'm not particularly fond of the "better than the original" all-round shiny as new restorations some other youtubers do, that diminishes the historical value i.m.o.
OMG I had two ever so slightly more modern versions of that back in the '90's. One used a type of PVA glue like you have there. The other had a small heating element and had hot wax in the tray.
There is a distinct reason this man commands the #1 spot for favorite restoration TH-camrs. He's thorough, he's methodical, he's hilarious and now I've learned he's musical!
Haha thank you!
Literally the best part of every single video is the sandblasting with the head bump. I live for that haha.
I really like that you restored the original roller as well as made a replacement, it’s nice to see the original tool respected but also to see it improved!

I've been missing your happy videos lately, so I decided to watch some of your old ones. I feel better now.
Congratulations, I think your blog is the only one I've watched with the ability to watch welding first hand through a darkened lens.

@@Crewsy you must mean the fake restorations...i have to agree with you there.
Your entertainment included in each vid is great. At 10:00 on this one was a musical composition of brilliance. Thank you, Maestro.
I love your sense of humor!
Your videos not only entertain but are informative! You show us some very interesting items!

You are a wizard, my friend!
I have no idea what a label paster even is but you better believe I’m looking forward to seeing one restored
One of the things I really appreciate is how you take the time to use the correct tool for the job ;)
This is one ☝🏻 of my favorite videos of your many restorations! You are a riot!!😎👍🏻😂🤣😅 and you still maintain your brilliant craftsmanship!👍🏻❤️😃
Wow I just watched this video TWICE and it's amazing!

I was sad to see no intro until I saw the one man band. You are a genius. Thanks for the video.
Hahah, it's coming back next video!
Hi
I was in AWE.. I haven't seen a power hacksaw since Machinist school in the 60's, THANK YOU for including that, very nostalgic!!!

I'm so glad your channel exists!!!!!!!!

My thoughts exactly but, lets not forget the hand tool tongue sticking out of the paster at the end.

I’ve never seen one of these before. Beautiful work, as always!
I was born, raised, and still live in Norwood, OH. I know the site this company operated on. Very cool to see it in your video!
Cool device! Nice tear down and clean up. Beautiful restoration.
The way the discs look together is ingenious.
The one and only thing missing from this video is your co-star Nutella! Still, always a thrill when you release a new video.
Another great video who knew you were so musical And such an amazing dancer

One the best channels on youtube.... simply AMAZING bro! Wow please continue!!
Thank you!
I cried the way you used your scissors.😭

@izee That was my first thought when I saw the file work on that disk. :-D
I love your videos so much they bring a smile to my face every time. Plus I am learning new things from every video.😀
This is the prettiest little machine!
10:04 This is why I love your videos. 🤣🤣 I have watched every video you have posted and will continue until the end!
Thank you!
That restoration was Great Captain.
I was waiting for your quirkiness! You didn’t disappoint!
I just love to see old things coming back to life, its art !!!
Great restoration but your secret is out now that you showed the magic at the end.
It’s not only a label paster but also a label duplicator. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That came out real pretty. Memories from yesteryear.
Nowadays this is all massive machine produced.
Very cool.
Great video - loved the 'rhythm scene' - you are great at what you do and at the same time hilarious.
I absolutely love your channel and videos. Thanks for the smiles you give with your channel 😊

you are the best resto ever most fun and goodat what you do. never a boring video =)
Dude, funny hilarious and on beat. Another great restoration video as always
I like how all these restoration video give everything a better finish then it probably had factory
The brass tag alone is a work of art!!....its cliche but they really "don't make em like they used to"

brilliant using silicone on the vice grips to keep from marring the gears. Will have to try that trick.

Andrew Delashaw even better. Thank you for the clarification.
It looked like a Yamaha RD LC 350 gear-box I once saw...after a gruelling race. With beat and all. What a video!

Nice job welding up that base 👍 cool project and loving the musical interlude 😂
