I went fishing with my Dad many times in a power boat and then went to a trailer after to sleep and I have good memories of that time, but my Dad was not a nature lover or was not at all verbal about it if he was. I had taken my sons camping like I went as a kid but always wondered how the heck someone hikes for days with everything on their back or travels I a canoe for days at a time. During Covid I made it a goal to learn from TH-cam how to do it and found many of the hikers also had a canoe and I wanted to try that as well. I now have a few years of backpacking in the backcountry and canoe trips with my youngest son (17) under my belt and this year we have planned a 12 day canoe trip and videos like yours do inspire people and while I don’t have the same background as you growing up, I realize it is important to my son as time goes on to do these things with me and I am lucky at 56 to be in good shape and healthy. Keep making these videos and maybe we’ll run into you at a park at some point.

Yes, I think it's definitely good to try to share some of these experiences with family. When my son was younger I felt like I was dragging him along. It was very nice this year when he asked me if we could do a canoe trip together. Maybe we will bump into each other. If we do, be sure to say hi.

Happy New Year Jason and thank you for hours of special get-away videos, they have really given me so much pleasure. Partly because I can relate to the feeling of the waters, the breezes the sounds and smell of trees.
      Bless you. Stay safe.

That was an absolutely a fantastic video.
It was my father as well who introduced me to the outdoors as well.
He's been gone 29 years now,but when I'm paddling here in Nova Scotia he's there along side of me.
Thank you for sharing your memories.
    Have a Happy New Year.
Looking forward to your 2024 adventures.
    Cheers 👍

What a beautiful story and so poignant with the reminisces of your Father. I know my Dad influenced my love of the water, the outdoors and camping. Then I ended up studying Recreation Therapy and did an Outdoor Rec specialty. We did a major canoe trip with portaging etc and then came back in the winter where I got to help build a snow hut and sleep out in it. My dad loaned me all of his winter survival gear and the whole experience was magical. One of the first gifts hubby made for me after marriage was a cedar strip canoe which we still have. We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful country...although I love to travel all over the world too. Looking forward to connecting this summer. We are looking at doing a trip up the Rideau in Chester Longtree and back in the early spring this year. Contact me when you know you're coming my way.

Hello. Great video. It sure is nice going down memory lane. Enjoyed your stories. I did the same thing with my Dad and cherish the memories.
Getting out in nature and away from the busyness of life sure makes one feel good.
Happy New Year and all the best for 2024.

This was so nice to watch. I bet your Dad will really like this video. You are influencing others by the way…I just booked a campsite for my first solo camping trip! Will stick to a car camping provincial park for my first solo and then who knows what the new year will bring? Looking forward to more videos from you in the New Year. All the best to you and yours.🎉
