      @@inthepocket7405 Out of the spec sheet I thought it will be too heavy that's why I was pretty hesitant but the moment I flick the knife my eyes where shining like when 5year old gets new toy☺️ I'm gonna have to buy dremmel tho' cause that "nub" pisses me off 😶 I also honestly don't understand it's purpose, there is no way my hand will slip of that jumping..And same the inside edges of g10 was very sharp like on your exemple.. I do same modification on it cause you just made it a better knife.. Unfortunately in Indonesia I can't find the dyi so I'll end asking my brother bring it for from homeland..But thank you for inspiration Kenny 🙏😉 That emerald green 🥰

      Yeah man, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this knife, and glad that you are finding the same thing. Yeah, that nub is totally pointless, and inhibits the proper function of the compression lock... I don’t get it🤷🏽‍♂️ Thanks buddy:)

      @@inthepocket7405 The nub is indeed useless there thanks to sharp jumping but honestly I've learned to operate it without hitting my finger but I will definitely remove it as well.. But idk you mentioned that you felt that after cutting with it some time you noticed that it was too thick behind the edge than there must be some difference in blade to blade cause I put my 17° per side edge with 19° superskinny micro bevel and bte thickness was pretty good ,about same like my Militar.. not bad imho. Thank you Kenny

    Nice vices are costly! I got a small one that I've bent the handle long ago. Chopped the heat off a screwdriver and I use that now to tighten my vice. So wish I could find a old huge vice!

  • @jamesgrant9377

    How did you get the detent tension so nice? Mine is so tight. Tried adjusting the spring but then I get blade rock. It's as though the ball is set wrong on the spring and needs to be shallower (away from the blade). I've got to really bottom out the detent to get it off the blade for a free fall. The bearings are sweet. It will free fall but as said the detent seems too far towards the blade so a greater push pressure to close is required.

    If you get the stonewashed standard s30v version the jimping is perfect out of the box. I have a DLC cruwear version also and it's much sharper. I think the stone washing knocks it all down. It's my favorite version and also the simplest.

    I found my G10 scales on this one to be too smooth. Kind of slick. The sanding? Did that improve the grasp?

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand that perspective. No, the breaking of the inside edge didn’t help the grip at all, but more so helped with the ergos when it comes to excessive amounts of cutting.

    I got me the spyderco shamsn the sprint cts xhp version, but that safety orange was way too much for me! Same synthetic green you got, and boiled the scales on and off for the better part of a entire day. Came out blotchy and very weak. As i recalled how I wanted the subvert till I found the huge blade has like no detent, also a few other things kept me from the subvert, like better knives for the same cost. But on Instagram someone claimed they used green and the mix made it look brown like wood. Was my original hope, then thinking how would that even work. Color changes happens in mixing colors, not layering a dye. So no idea why I was mislead by the Instagram person. Who knows. But I had a package of old black powder rit dye and mixed it in the green after soaking over night with no change! But in the end, a little sanding sponge made some slight orange tint come threw on the edges with a darkening towards the center as I dyed it twice to get the fade look I found enjoyable for me. But still kinda want some shaman scales from that Russian maker. Or the worker scales that have a strider handle shape to them. Eitherway the shaman lynch clip was needed first! Ohhh and I love it. Got the m4 smock and some titanium frag scales all I had laying around was a old milled titanium clip by Razor Edge Knives, which fits well enough, but is no deep carry. The reason I mentioned this, I recently read oxiclean can darken titanium and my only issue with the Reylight frag is a light titanium, darker would be so much nicer. Thinking that's next!

    My Manix use the choil nub as a close position stop. Delica and Stretch use back of blade for stop too. Shaman uses internal stop pin? Just curious, but knife looks great!

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Strongbow the closed position stop is on the other side of the finger choil jimping from the nub on the Shaman, and hits the stop pin.

    Actually you didn't need to be worried about the heat.. If I'm not mistaken it's M4.. M4 tempering is at 350°C-400°C and anything under that temperature would not affect the temper at all.. beautiful collor on the handle👍

      It's a good habit to get into when working on any blade. Then you never have to worry about a specific steel,,specific company, a specific heat treat, etc.

    I liked the more detailed production on the mods. Rounding the edges of the scales and removing that last jimp does change the knife. As the clip is uncomfortable for me I tried a MXG deep carry clip but was unhappy with it. I ordered some titanium and I'm going to make a sculpted clip which should solve that issue. Dig your vids.

    I can't wait to do this to my Shaman. The knife looks SO MUCH better without "the nub" and the lines just look wrong with it. Reading through the forums its hillarious to see the number of people white-knighting for "Sal" and Spyderco and telling people to "just handle the knife differently" and "what's wrong with you? Sal designed this and he's a _god_ ". Lol. "Sal" made a design mistake and he's even on the forums trying to claim its a "safety issue". He reminds me of architects who draw pretty drawings but don't know how things are built or how materials/tools work.
