I like you mister, you have a kind face
Thank you!
Herr Morgan
Ya know what, I'm feeling good today
Ah you don't need to know this
Lol ,Micky from RDR2!😄
The kind I like to punch!
Only you Santee could take a plain, boring, whatever subject matter such as gloves and make it educational and entertaining.
Hands down, you've got it covered
HAHA! Thanks, brother.
Hell yeah!
😂I don’t find gloves boring, I love the different kinds. I learned today about the glove stretchers, didn’t know there was such a thing 👍
I prefer learning about the little mundane things that have disappeared over time...
Santee heres ya an idea for a short episode 'lady's hat pins' .. the original EDC weapon/tool
Verty good chaneel Santee . I love the west .
Thank you!
You subscribed to me three years ago, it took me a minute but I am just now seeing your channel and I have to say, this is not something I would have searched up, or probably ever have found. But I'm really glad I did, this channel is bad ass.
Thank you!
If it doesn't exist already, I'd like to see a video some day talking about the historical prevalence of "stacked jeans", wearing one's boots under their long jeans. Stuff like why people wore pants inside the boot, why some people didn't, and why stacked jeans became the norm? Love your content!
Miners and cowboys had to deal with environments that were bad for their pantlegs. I.E. thorns, brush, streams, etc. By tucking them in, you save that hem from getting shredded or stained.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Ah, alright! Do you have any idea why they started to stack their jeans overtop the boot instead? As far as I know, there are cowboys still doing this today.
@@ChateauLonLon From personal experience from growing up around cowboys and in the country, if you where out in the pasture or stables you may tuck your pants into your boots to protect your pants from the mud and manure, but then wear your pants over your boots any other time, for fashion it looks better especially with the type and style of boots we have today, as well as comfortability I find that if I wear my jeans inside of my boots it tends to be uncomfortable and the pants tend to bunch up around the ankle and at times it can be harder to walk in. As well as most "cowboy" boots today are not really fitted unless you special order them and tend to rock more back and forth on the ankle and up as there tends to be a lot of extra room and the pants over the boots helps negate some of that movement compared to older boots you see worn during the time that had a more tighter fit and didn't flare as much as most modern "cowboy" boots. From what I have seen however I could be wrong on that I am not expert. Also it depends on the person you will still see people wear the pants in the boots vs over.
Have a good week. How can you go wrong when you end with picture of Maureen O’Hara .
Hubba Hubba!
Ladies gloves also protected the hands from outside dirt, and keeping the hands from sunburns that would make them look old.
Yes. Suntans were not ladylike back then.
The “take this job and shove it” part was hilarious
Thank You!
Loved the video once again. I wear gloves a lot did not know they used fingerless glove back then though thanks for the education... Have fun and keep your powder dry.
Our pleasure!
Hey Arizona Ghostriders. Stay strong in these perilous times! America is dying but you guys help me remember how great we used be! I wish I could go back in time to the old west and I wish this was all a bad dream.
USA still going strong. Don't watch the fake news. Feel great all day not watching early morning News.
A better America will be born out of the ashes of the old one. It is about time we the people stand up for our rights and stop the government infringing our rights.
@@stoundingresults I want to believe that, but current events are painting a different picture. Things will only get worse, as is prophecied in revelations, before Jesus returns.
@@apexalaska You should really try to be more optimistic and look at the lighter side of life.
@@kgkbuugj I really would love that. I'm not trying to be be a pessimist, but things are going to get much worse before they get better.
Honestly these videos are my favorite thing about Saturday morning
Glad you like them!
Another great Saturday morning watch, Santee.🤠💯👍Stellar job with the puns! Lol😂🍻
Glad you enjoyed it
A new Arizona Ghostriders video fits Saturday mornin' like hand in a glove.
That works.
I always wondered about the handle with kid gloves expression. Now I know thanks again. Good stuff as always.”See ya down the trail. “
Glad to help
Another great video, sir. Gloves were useful and practical and everyone wore them or used them for some job. Between about 1840 to the early 1900s , neither men nor women would be in public without gloves. Even into the early 60s, ladies still wore gloves.
Mostly in the East or Europe. At well-to-do funerals, they would give out gloves. If you look at photos from our frontiersman, they rarely have on gloves. Signs of the practical pioneers.
@@ArizonaGhostriders absolutely.
Cool video. I like gloves and wear them most of the time I am outdoors.
Right on
Also depends on the type of leather. Kangaroo skin is ideal for wet conditions, dosen't slip , especially on reins , Buffaloo hide is very thick and hard wearing and stretches. Pig skin is thinner but hard wearing. Hide gloves are better for hot work.
Yes, I'm not sure if kangaroo had a place in the Old West, though.
@@ArizonaGhostriders You have a dinasour! :-)
Great video to show about the gloves from the wild west days and today to buy one 🤠
Good luck!
It’s always a pleasure to see you santee your knowledge on the Wild West is amazing no wonder you have such a awesome channel it’s awesome being part of your family could do with some nice warm gloves in the weather we have in the U.K. take care santee thanks for sharing you are a legend 👍
So nice of you
Usually only slick gunfighters use them in bad movies but the great Huffman series of Northern Range cowhands clearly shows they were worn.
Yes. I don't use them as a gunfighter. Can't "feel" the gun.
Good morning Santee, a pair of gauntlets will be nice! Thanks and have a good weekend.
They are!
I have to hand it to ya. That was a good one.
Thank you!
Now me personally I love my Coach gloves 😂. Awesome Santee. Tfs. Diane 🦋
Thanks Diane!
Outstanding video Santee I learned something new again 👊🤠🍻🥃
🦅🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🦅
Glad to hear it! 🤠
While i've used gloves alot, you kind of take them for granted and don't really think about it. Thanks for the video!
You bet!
Well congratulations Santee I believe you used just about every available pun on this one but that’s ok. Stay safe out there.
There's jokes enough you could shake a fist at.
Thanks Santee for this opportunity to See The Cowboy Way Ride On 😎👍
You bet
Another good one! Santee, if anyone complains about your caffeine addiction, tell them you’ll buy them a cup of coffee and talk to them about it. Make sure it’s the kind that can float a horseshoe. 🤣
LOL! Yes
Nice video and glad to see Dan hold his own with someone that wanted to hog the scene as much as him.
Yeah, Dirty Dog love to be on camera.
This is one I'm excited for
Good
Very cool. Ive always noted the different types of gloves and find it an interesting subject. Thanks for this!
Thanks for watching!
You covered that very well Santee.
Thanks
Hi Santee always a pleasure mate. Gloves Gits mazing just how often one uses them, from my days on the farm to driving i think i always have gloves on, I remember been a teenager an a workmate pranking me telling me a certain set he had stopped you getting shocks from the electric fence on our station, anyways just grab it he ses so i walk on over and casually grab the wire and get 6000 volts through me lol, good times , hope 2021 is been kind to you thus far my friend may the rest be amazing,
What a shocking story! Izeak, thanks, man. Have a good one.
@@ArizonaGhostriders + lol kiwi humor mate , not as bad as when I worked in a shearing gang and got given a bottle of oil and took a swig thinkin it was water lol, Tell yah mate ive had some beauts when it comes to been pranked at work. you to Santee stay safe out there
Well I guess it's Saturday again....now where did I leave my gloves lol
LOL!
Very nice video guys, thanks for making the rise and shine a bit more shiney!!
You bet!
Your vids are why I look forward to Saturdays. Great video as always!
Glad you like them!
Thanks Santee, this episode fit like... a hand sock!!!
HHAHA!
Thank for another great episode. Keep them coming. 🤠
You bet!
I can't imagine anyone slapping Hardin across the chops and challenging him to a duel at sunrise
Right??
I love how regular and consistent this channel is.
Thank you!
The animated glove stretcher looks remarkably like a handlebar mustache curling iron.
I was recently fitted for a prosthetic eye, how about a video on disabilities and the ways they coped with them?
The clip from The White Buffalo (1977) when Jack Warden as Charlie Zane removes his prosthetic eye to show to Crazy Horse would be perfect for it.
I will do one. I looked this up recently. Glass eyes go WAAAAY back.
@@ArizonaGhostriders my profile picture was taken by my high school buddy right after I received the prosthetic. Both of us were amazed at how closely they had matched my real eye and he couldn’t wait for his wife to see.
Dan's pooch aint a liking that AGR logo on the coffee cup hmmm , but the AGR logo on the gauntlets set the decoration off handsomely. Very well done!!
OH NO! I forgot to adjust that logo on the cup. Completey forgot.
Well I prefer the brown deer skin ones. Still waiting on my episode of insults in the old west.
I'll get it, Slick.
I didn't even realize that this was your new video today. I saw it in my reccomended but I didn't check the date so I just thought it was one of your older videos that I have not yet seen.
There ya go!
Really keeping the old west alive. I love the fact that you have created a super repository of well research information. Has helped me a few times as a Cowboy action shooter!!!
Good to hear! Thanks for the comment.
Great video Santee. Jo-Ann and I enjoyed it. Your videos are "hands down" some of my favorite videos on TH-cam. :)
Wow, thank you! LOL!
You certainly covered this topic my friend. Nice ending.
Yes....well, if the glove don't fit, you must acquit.
Thanks!
It's nice to watch a Santee video to get away from all the bummer crap surrounding us lately.
Thanks!
Take this Job and shove it😂😂
LOL!
Excellent. Extremely informative. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks, Santee!
My pleasure! Hope it met with your approval
Thanks again Santee & Co. I must say that your grasp of the subject is worth pointing out . I have another thought , but just can't put my finger on the right wprds. See Y'all down the trail .
I thought it a gripping subject.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Ha !
Being a true user of work gloves everyday of the week, I enjoyed learning about gloves from our past. Thank You for another entertaining and educational video Arizona Ghostriders. Have A Great and Safe Week! Happy Trails!
Our pleasure! Thank you!
Gotta hand it to you, this one one was both informative and unusual!
LOL!
Nice video, Santee. And remember, "No glove, no love." *:D*
Though ironically, Gloving is a thing with the younger generation nowadays.
(Nothing dirty or sleazy.)
Interesting!
Hello Santee! Speaking of gloves I should have been wearing them outside this morning when I was hanging out my wash! It's pretty cold in my neck of the woods! Love that picture of you and your wife! Thanks for another great video. Take care & God bless!
Right on. Take care and have fun with...uh...cold clothing!
Great video. You really palmed that one. My gloves off to you.
Glad you enjoyed it LOL!
4:10am and i got your video 10-4
COol
DOING GOOD SANTEE , GREAT JOB
Much appreciated.
A winter glove slap to the face would not start a duel. It would finish it. LoL
Yes
Mary Todd Lincoln, In 1865 bought a bulk purchase of 300 pairs of kids gloves. No one knows why exactly But she herself had habits of expensive clothing and was known to have a few dozen pairs herself.
Wow!
I think she had OCD,she always had a spending habit that got worse as she lost two sons and her husband as well. She eventually ended up in a mental hospital. Her and Lincoln's biography is here on TH-cam.
Johnny Paycheck! I haven't heard that song in ages.
HA!
Great job. I learned some things Santee!
Awesome! Thank you!
Ya know i used to drink coffee from a tin cup but the blasted tin was so hot I couldn't hold it, which is why there's another reason I think cowboys wore gloves lol 🤔 😆
I'd say. That little handle doesn't do squat in the heat department.
I gotta hand it to ya. It looks like you got this one covered.
Nice
Another day another great video santee 😉
Thanks again!
Santee you ought to check out "TUFF MATE GLOVES"
Yeah?
another great video Santee.... was wondering if you had heard the news of the passing of actor and songwriter, Ed Bruce this week.... He wrote the song, "Mamas Dont Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys"
I didn't. Thanks for letting me know.
Thank you so much for the video 👍
So nice of you
Very informative. Thank you.
You are welcome!
One of my great Uncles had a pair of gloves his Father had used in the coal mines of Kentucky in the 1890's. I think they were made from rhino hide, or mammoth hide... T-Rex hide. Whatever it was, it was TOUGH.
Wow!
Hey brother Santee! Hope you had an amazing Holiday Season! Another great vid brother! You really have your fingers on the pulse of it!
HAHAA! Thanks!
Two thumbs up! Great video!
Thank you very much!
Informative and entertaining. I enjoyed the video and gained knowledge from it.
Glad to hear it! Every time I do one I learn a few little nuggets of truth!
Nice hat Dan!
🤠
Great video Santee
Thanks! BTW, how is your back?
Hope they made them better quality than they do today.
I have to replace my gloves yearly due to holes forming in the fingertips.
And I don't have long nails at all...
Leather ones haven't changed much over the years. Depending on the labor you are doing, you could go through a lot of gloves.
Not drinking out of an Arizona Ghostriders Coffee mug...
Santee, Dirty Dan needs to talk to you.
Actually, a porcelain covered metal cup with the Arizona Ghostriders logo would be quite tony.
I would like to have them made up someday.
@@ArizonaGhostriders
Me too!
@@ArizonaGhostriders I'd buy one. Your porcelein mug holds some odds and ends on my bench in the man cave. I smile when I see it.
Well he was a no good lying yankee. I had a pair of Cavalry gauntlets that I wore with the Confederate Cavalry living history group. I also had a pair of cotton gloves, made from cotton tobacco twine, and also a pair of wool gloves for living history as well. Thanks for the video, compadre.
You're welcome, Eric!
Do you know how to shrink down a pair of cavalry gauntlets? They’re a lion too long in the fingers. But when I bought these the next size down were so small I couldn’t fit my hand in. Thanks!😀
It feels so right, that I'm wearing my AZ Ghostriders T-shirt while watching this video!
Wooohooo! Hope you got pants on.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Oops
Great and very informative , and even a handy video Santee. Im gonna fix my tanned leathergloves a bit after watching this. Thank you and keep up the amazing work you do :)
Glad to hear it!
Man santee i sure do love these videos
Im a huge fan of western history
Especially the era of when the age of gunslingers and lawmen went extinct
Btw in about a year and a half I'll be joining the u.s army
I really gotta study up on my general history
I hope to one day see you do a video about language and slang in the old west
Have a great day partner!
Thank you for heading out to serve our country (well, soon)!
I've been looking for a reason to make a pair of gloves, I might just have to try my hand at it! Another great video Santee!
You should!
Poor Rex out there in the snowstorm with no gloves. Instead of asking Santa for the mastodon ribs, he should have asked for a hat, scarf, and gloves.
Yeah, he's had the sniffles ever since.
What movie was that trick shot with Maureen O'Hara from?
Also, besides looking sharp, what are the advantages of gauntlets, and who would be likely to wear them?
Buffalo Bill Gauntlets protected the wrist and forearm from bursh or ropes, etc.
Thanks Santee for the great episode, but I jest couldn't get a grip on it. XP Question though; did roping cuffs evolve from the gauntlet style gloves?
The gauntlet glove was around first. Since about the 1600s, no doubt.
Very interesting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you think so!
Tom Selleck wore a very fine pair of period correct gloves in the movie Monte Walsh.
Yup...as shown in this video.
@@ArizonaGhostriders At 1:02 ??
Nice one!👍✌️
Thanks ✌️
Always enjoy the history. Can you do one on Masks? They seem to be back in style.😆
HA....well, I dunno.
Could you do a vid on drifters (the classic Eastwood archetype) please? Either as a Dressing the Part or as an exposé on travelling with clothes & other essentials for those not in the "I can afford a stagecoach" class, if it's not too much trouble.
As Southern Hospitality was definitely a thing, there must have been at least a few of these guys out there, doing odd jobs an whatnot.
Definitely.
I bet the old west T-Rex had cute little elbow length gloves, so it would make his little arms look longer!
How did you know?!??!
Throw down the gauntlet, the gloves are off.
Yes!
I didnt know bolo ties weren't a historic item. The movies lied to me
They did!
You can also put some chewing tobacco, salt in water for a few days and rub it in. Follow a work pattern and then go lighter to simulate an uneven dye pattern
Cool!
Hey Santee!
Niiiice! A very handy video!
Also is that the first time that Dirty Dan complimented your word play? Okay duly noted: Dan likes puns!
Dan puts up with them
I’m finally the first one 😂 good thing I have notifications on
🥇
Thank you!
Howdy again santee 👒
😀
Hey!
great vid, thanks Cheese !!!
Thank you!
Was thumbing through TH-cam and found this video on gloves. Looks very gripping. Seems you guys knuckled down and got a handle on the subject.
Nicely done, pard!
