7 years later it's still a great video and demonstration. After 7 years of indecision i decided this little thing is close enough for a lot of good organ sounds and i'm getting me one. Thank you for helping me to decide!
Nice chops. For those people below, the YC is not touch sensitive, and it does have a break out MIDI in/out port. Too bad they didn't have a footswitch for the Leslie speaker AND swell volume.
Or you can use midi to usb cable...because the reface supports both options....make sure you have the midi splitter that comes with the reface in the box though
I did a gig with the Reface CP and kept getting lost because I had to look between my chart and the keyboard. Now I know why all the demo-ers improvise.
this shows that a sustain pedal is needed - to hold notes, while hitting the rotary contol/drawbars. The reface doesn't have a sustain input. Also: Footpedal for rotary control?
Hi, the reface YC is a "tone wheel organ clone" and in the real hammond there isn't a "sustain pedal". With this instrument is possible to control the "leslie switch" with the mod wheel in the left side. My playing of the hammond organ in this video is not very correct :)
@@ManueleMontesanti Yep. Yamaha should not be so purist! The reface CS allows you to configure the expression pedal input to a sustain. But they left that out of the YC. Im looking into getting a midi sustain pedal
Great, finally connected to a full master keyboard. Could it provide separate parts for upper/lower/pedals or does it have only single part capability? Is it possible to connect to a non-USB master kayboard via USB-MIDI adapter? Thanks.
I had a Nord Electro 2. Hated the action. too springy for piano, and too heavy for organ. However, I liked that the Leslie could be triggered from a temp contact foot-switch.
I'm also in the possesion of this little red rocker and I would like to connect it to my main keyboard which is a Roland fp30. Do you or anyone else know what I need to connect them? Good playing by the way.
Ti ringrazio ancora e buona musica!
The YC only has a volume pedal socket but I'd need to check the MIDI spec. Having said that I think this is the YC straight. The way they have the rotary speaker effect spin up and down is very well done. You can see him flicking the switch with his left hand.
Ah ha! This is a great demonstration. I recognise your name from the gsi VB3-II audio demos. I have vb3 V2 how do you think the Yamaha compares to Guido's instrument!?
@@ManueleMontesanti thanks. I think I better go and try a YC in a store before deciding. I have a reface CP and love the size and portability. I even use it for some gigs and rehearsals. Just missing the Hammond sound.
@@ManueleMontesanti ok. Christmas came and I purchased a Yamaha reface YC. On the whole I like it a lot. The chorus/vibrato section doesn't sound good. I don't like the pitch wobble. So I leave it turned off. Fast leslie is a bit strange but it's ok. I wish Yamaha would do a firmware update to do something with the chorus setting.
You can connect any midi controller straight to the Reface, provided that said midi controller uses a standard 5 pin midi din connector. Included in the box of the Reface you get a so called midi breakout cable. All you really need to connect the Reface to any midi controller is a midi cable, nothing more. No computer :)

i just don't understand YAMAHA can create this but the MOTIF XF 8 i have doesn't sound this GOOD. WTF is wrong with YAMAHA and the 8 Faders when they know you need 9 Faders for drawbars. YAMAHA needs to FIX their SHIT.

Best YC demo on TH-cam Great job, thanks.
thank you!!!
I hate you... you made me spend 400$.
;)
Excellent demonstration of YC reface of Hammond B3 !
This sound engine kick asses!
I've watched quite a few YC demos on youtube, and this one definitely takes the cake! Well done!
Thank you!!!

Yes it is touch sensitive...you can tell when you turn on percussion
I know absolutely nothing about audio can someone tell me how to connect this to my computer
@@GOONGamers you can use a printer usb cable...printer end goes into the reface...the usb end goes into your pc
Look for a usb cable called a USB AB cable

awesome!!! this is a small monster!!! grEEEAATTTT SOUND!!
I wish I could make my YC bark like that!
Like all of the Refaces it has tons of mojo that inspires me to play so there's hope 😀
Excellent video, thanks for posting, much appreciated : )
Brilliant B3 playing your a new star proper inspiration
Thank you very much Neil!
Manuele--You are a great player! I LOVE that drawbar setting too (I use the exact one!). AWESOME!
+Blake Angelos Hi Blake! thank you very much!i hope to meet you soon! ciao!!
Great demo..
Thank you!!
As it sits on top of of Yamaha's last flagship . Nice
ok ok reface yc soundz goood.... but YOU rock mate !!! what a feeling
Thank you! :)
wow, amazing playing!
woah!!!

yes of course!

youre really fuckin good at that man :)
Nice demo and playing Manuele ;)
Sounds good mate!
Manuele, do velocity sensitive keys transfer through?
Accepts sustain pedal messages?
Yes!

can I use my Yamaha P140 as a master board as well?

Nice! Assuming that expression comes from an FC7 (right?) pedal but is the Motif adding any effects? Any other pedals? Very cool.

Hi and thank you! at the moment the vb3 II is much better than the YC...basically is sample(YC) vs Phisical Modeling (VB3II)

Hi, midi out from Motif --->Reface Yc midi in ;)!
Y como conecto esos 2 pianos??
Hi, with the midi connections!
Hey! Could you use the reface as a controller too? I mean playing sounds from the motif on the reface keyboard?
Yes you can
Must have computer between? or is there "real" midi on the YC?
MrKeys57 hi is the sound of reface yc! believe me :)

come colleghi la reface alla motif?
via midi o usb?
usi la motif come master keyboard?
grazie aspetto risposta
è collegata via midi e ovviamente Motif l'ho usata come master keyboard ;)
grazie manuele buona estate
e complimenti x i tuoi video
r.
what song is being played at 1:15?
It seemed to me like he was just doing some gospel like things there but I suppose it might be an actual song.

zzz wy : for the price though it’s pretty fantastic, there’s nothing out there in the price range that compares, unless you go the software route.
