Veronika, I love your bear analogy. Where I live we have a resurgence of wolves, but same diff. 🐺 🐻 ❗️

I'm so grateful I discovered your channel! I've been dealing with insomnia for three+ weeks, which started off with five days of barely sleeping. I seem to be fluctuating between sleepless nights, 2-3 hour sleep nights, and a cpl pretty good "normal" nights. The night before last was the best sleep night I've had since this began, but then last night was basically a no-sleep night. I'm pretty clear on why this insomnia happened for me in the first place (The three P's are right on!) and your teachings are helping me so much. But I realized that now I am beginning to fear having any feelings of worry or fear in my life, like I have to perfectly eliminate these to have lasting improvement. (I never realized how much I've been trying to control, and what a perfectionist I have become! )

After having a 7hr rest for the first time in a while, is it normal to be waking up not feeling refreshed and with headaches? The headaches can be quite sharp and then go away at the back of the head. Definately feeling groggy as well, like drunk.

Yes! We call these experiences post-arousal fatigue. When the hyperarousal fades thanks to education, we sleep longer AND the many things the stress hormones have makes like fatigue and discomfort are felt.

I’ve been working the program for 6 months (2 months with bedtyme). I am improving but still wake up early AM. Sometimes I can go back to sleep. Sometimes not. I don’t get upset about not being able to go back to sleep. I listen to a book and relax. How long will this continue?

Hi there, thanks much for asking and being part of our community. Firstly, it’s so nice hearing that waking up doesn’t bother you so much now, this in itself is so wonderful and surely comes from your open mindedness and readiness to learn.
Now how long will it take before our brain no longer has some lingering worries about sleep that keeps us awake when we have those normal AM awakenings everyone has that are part of normal sleep?
The answer becomes that it does happen sooner when we no longer attempt to forecast how long it will take. And the reason for this you’ll find here:

      Hope this helps 😊

@@thesleepcoachschool8192thank you for responding. I am also tapering a benzo and am in David powers benzo school. So the taper has been a little challenging too. I will be patient and not worry about when it will end.
