You said the cam gear drive and thrust block should be placed at nodal point but how will you place both of them in such a congested space between main bearing and flywheel
then what is the difference between placing the thrust block internally or externally of the main enginee ::: the same nodal point is the reason or any other reasons ??

Yes nodal point is the reason and exposure to the area
