Coming from Toronto one day early in Dec. I need clear guidance getting from Heathrow to the train to Southampton as I will be solo with a minor cognitive impairment and will be hanging from my chinstrap after 30 hours without sleep. I _could_ kip near Heathrow and then taxi back to catch a transfer, but I would rather sleep in Southampton near the pier.

Thanks for the tips! I just booked Carnival's new 2020 ship Mardi Gras from Southampton to New York but we will be flying in to England from Canada & having never been there before we were unsure the best way to get from airport to cruise port. Flight prices are cheapest if we fly into Heathrow or Gatwick so the approx 2hrs of travel time was an issue as we don't want to rent a car. Looks like a train is the best way to go.

Thank you I’m pleased I could help a it also one thing to think about is if you fly into Heathrow you might want to think about taking the National Express coach from the airport to Southampton www.nationalexpress.com/coach/Landing/route.aspx?to=Southampton&from=Heathrow. Yes it is very easy and it is still walkable !!! A taxi will take no more than 10 minutes as well cheers Pete

Hi Richard if you purchase on the day it’s more expensive I joined Trainline and purchased a single from High Wycombe via London to Southampton for £20 you can buy these up to 6 months in advance but are set train times which was fine cheers Pete
