      Got 2 kids and a full time job I have to play at 6 am to practice in peace!
      But I have a co-worker that wants to play with me during lunch break, we could play with one of those if they had a speaker, I'm still watching the video maybe Glenn already covered it!

    I'm a big fan of headphone amps like this. I've been using a Vox Amplug plugged into the output of a boost pedal that I connect into from my wireless. I connect the aux cord to a portable speaker and I have a near fully wireless and battery operated rig for practicing at home, on the go, around a campfire, or in a tour bus.

    I bought one of these a little while back after seeing some reviews online.
    I loaded your IR's onto it after you kindly gifted them to us and they sound good to me - although it is interesting that you have picked up a difference from how they should sound.
    The acoustic guitar simulation sounds good as well.
    Just for ease of use, I love this thing - highly useable (if not perfect) sound for late night or on the go playing.
    I think you can even load up a custom track and have timestamps as to when effects come on/off - eg verse section, chorus section and solo.

    I own the nu-x mg-100 it's a pretty nice lil multi-effects thingy for just messin' around. I run it into a yamaha mixer and use an old jvc stereo as a "monitor/amp". The mg-100 even has a looper function with built in drum beats to jam with. ROCK ON!

    @Rebar77_real ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Those are getting pretty wild! The fact you can load IR's really boggles the balls. Have a Basics one around that was better than nothing at the time but holy shit this is an amazing option now!

      All the Kempers, Fractals and even Tone X's are gonna be old news soon. You'll have that li'l plug, a tiny pedal unit and you're good to play a show.
      Okay, that exists.... Never mind. I was trying to think smaller and cheaper. :D

    I bought this one and the fender mustang version. Both have their own cool things going on, but these are unbelievable for having a way to practice anywhere.

    • @tkdee0423
      @tkdee0423 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the mustang GT too. I bought this and a cheap squire I leave at my in law’s house to play on when visiting. I always think how I would have loved to have this type of stuff as a kid. How would you compare this to the fender? Seems a lot more customizable, but sometimes I like the lack of options on the fender. I don’t spend a lot of time fiddling with it and can get something close to what I want in a couple seconds. This seems like it is more like the Spark in terms of options though, which could also be fun.

  • @altpath
    @altpath ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Loading IR's is awesome! I almost bit the bullet on the recent boss waza air and the newer gt something or other but lack of IR loading was always a deal breaker. This is so much better it seems.

  • @Catywampus.Kerfuffle

    I've been using it plugged into the line out of my Grandmeister 40 (w/the speaker off) and the cab sim or IR. Great for practicing with a baby in the house. Also works well as a standalone with the amp models inside. Decent product overall.

    This is nice, I got the NuX MG30 Modeling amp and processor and this has all the same options, FX, and looks with block editing. Its $299 new and I got one open box for $220 USD. It has an FX loop for my more expensive and weird fx and some drives fuzz and JHS Haunting Mids parametric EQ spike I put just after my Drive. For headphones or writing to record to laptop or tablet is nice. I can even plug my RevvG4 and other amps in a box and shit and use it as a pedal platform amp as well. Nice to see NuX is keeping the ecosystems they use visually for all their products.

    @Catywampus.Kerfuffle ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Kyle Bull did a good video about the places for od/boost and compression in the order of effects chain. Generally you'd want od/boost shaping the guitar in front of the amp and you'd want your compression shaping the preamp in the effects loop. If I remember it correctly. On that note, I might revisit the Boss EQ200. 4 cabling that into your amplification chain could cover both functions with a finer degree of detail possibly.

  • @TribalGuitars
    @TribalGuitars ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had the Mighy Plug (not the Pro) for a couple years now and it's been great! I was using the PockRock for a couple years which is still great for $30-$40. The Pro looks awesome! I'm definitely thinking of upgrading to the Pro as it looks like it has a lot more features I could use. The few negatives I have heard about it is it can get a bit glitchy for some people (NOT everyone) about updating its firmware in a couple ways, and I can say from my version they could make updating it, on the whole, a lot easier. They are really good about regular app updates, and loading IRs looks a lot easier on the Pro.
    This thing has been a lifesaver by making late-night practice easy.

    Well... I'm impressed. LOL. Really. That sounds really good, especially since I had a SRD Rockman back in the 80s...heh. I wasn't expecting the Nux Mighty Plug Pro to sound that full, since I remember how thin the old headphone guitar practice modules used to be. I might have to actually pick one of those up. It would definitely simplify the whole practice set up. I'll have to wait until it is released to Canadian music venders and check it out then.

    🤟😎🤟
    On subject about the Nux it's a great piece of gear for practicing and after playing around with the unit you could have a potential for back up rig for live shows. I bought a Mooer P1 Prime Pedal and bought separately a wireless foot switch and it's not bad price of gear. And please correct me if I am wrong not sure if you know or mentioned that with the NUX I think you can actually drag the order of the pedals. Like I said correct me if I am wrong 😂

    I have the previous version and you cannot really complain considering the price. The only thing missing is a master volume control on the device itself. Only way to change the volume is turning down the amp over the app, and that sucks a lot! And it looks like this didn’t change. Mine goes out for sale again as I’ve ordered the new positive grid spark go which has a volume control.

    When it first released, it didn't has tuner built in the app. I had told them in their discussion FB page to add the tuner. At that time some jerks from this company try to excuse that it's inappropriate to add tuner because of latency of bluetooth. But eventually they add tuner after 4 months of releasing this amp plug. Now it's a perfect headphone amp for practice.

    Got one. It's a gadget, a toy. Make no mistake. It's slightly more versatile than my older Vox JS AmPlug. Great for bedroom low-fi play-alongs. But the signal quality is according to the price. Yes the IRs seem like a big deal. But most of the effects are kinda hit and miss. The compressor is the biggest offender. The modulation effects like chorus and delay are the best of the bunch. And the distortion, well, in combination with the amp models a real challenge to get a decent sound and feel. But what's to complain. A multi-effect plug for 100 bucks. I surely could not resist.

  • @mathewpybus1599
    @mathewpybus1599 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got the EHV iconic 40w combo and the only downside to the amp is it doesn't have a headphone jack so I got the Boss gx-100 multi effects unit which is great coz I practice with headphones daily plus I can turn off the amp and cab blocks and using the four cable method use it with my amp as stomp box effects but again given it's size and power requirements it's not good if I wanted to practice while waiting at the bus depot so this little gadget is definitely something I'm gunna look into I always viewed something like this as having poor tone and just a well marketed gimmick but you just proven me wrong on that Glenn and it's one of those times I'm happy to be wrong thanks for sharing this useful little piece of kit

And finally, I'm going to click on the Thomann link and might give in to the temptation to buy one if the price is right. Thanks Glenn. I appreciate this review more than most because it's something I'll seriously consider buying. Edit: I just bought one from Thomann for €99 + €15 shipping. Thanks Glenn! The IR thing, it also happens with the Cube Baby pedal. My guess is that it can't load high quality IRs really well, just like the NUX MG300 compared to MG30. With the Cuvave all IRs get a boost in the mids and their highs are gone, but still, good enough for gigging.

    Muff fuzz, decently long delay and big reverb, makes a nice ASMR lead tone :)

      Also, your clean stuff is good enough to demo the basics for the people who won't be using the cleans that much

    It's a bit funny that this video comes the day I've received my positive grid go. This is at almost the same price, and has a pretty decent headphones out so I wonder how it compares to nux device.

    That looks great, and as I have my nieblings coming over, it might be super useful. I didn't quite understand, though, are you able to play along to existing tracks through it? Like, can you get it to bluetooth the output to a phone and then the phone plays both and you put the headphones in that?

      You stream audio from your phone over to the nux via bluetooth, then you use headphones on the nux to listen to both the music and your guitar

    Glenn try a long male to female guitar cord to plug into so you don’t have to struggle with a short usb cord! Just a thought

    Nux plug 2 and pro are great and I use more thank my axfe fx or mooer ge300.
    The acoustic sounds on the plug are surprising good and authentic too.
    Linking to Bluetooth is another icing on the cake.
    Also you the "mightier amp" app
    Much better layout and speed of going through amps and cabs but allows you to save and load multiple patches rather than the stupid barcode, screenshot to scanning system.
