The scene where Uravity is learning martial arts from Gunhead, and Montana is like, "That's not how 'learn by doing' works." Yes, actually, it is. That is exactly how learning physical combat skills works. You take turns being on the receiving end, to learn both what to do and what you will be doing to others.
When she said that in that instance, she was referring to how Uravity wasn't able to watch how the maneuver happened. She wasn't able to see the technique because it was being done to her. Once she was able to switch, though then she actually could. I took Jiu Jitsu and in our dojo, our sensei and teaching assistants would demonstrate to us how to do the move and then we were able to practice. Only after we all were able to watch how the moves were done, then we would get to practice them. They didn't start by showing a new move out on a student initially because then you can't see the technicalities of the move you are supposed to learn. Plus, if you learn by seeing it done to a student then you might learn an improper technique. Because the student doesn't know all the particulars. How to step so they aren't stabbed (in the case of the show), how to properly fall, how to "twist the knife away," etc. Also, we would not use a real knife like in the show. Having a student stab at you like that would not happen. One wrong move and there goes your instructor. Or if someone was standing behind him, yikes.

I think it's great that even in a mostly anime-original ep like this one we still get some vital character building for Uraraka and Tsuyu. Tsuyu's is obvious (and fits in really well with her future arc/decisions), but that knife training for Uraraka is SO vital in nearly every one of her future fight scenes! And it feels like such a small thing at the time! I love it!
This is apparently in the manga, but it’s more of a short mention. They expanded it into a full episode. So, it’s not filler story, but they did fill things in- if that makes sense.
Exactly, it’s not filler… because it’s cannon. Filler traditionally means non-canon stories added by the adaption. But it is filler, because technically they filled stuff in and they did lengthen it… but it is cannon. Of course it’s non-cannon stuff that most irks people. With the combat training with uraraka, from personal experience it is actually really helpful to have a move done on you first then practicing it. It really helps to get a feel for how the body movement works from both sides, though obviously you have to then actually practice it yourself form a series of different starting positions and sparring situations to really ‘get’ it.

@@deadsetondreams1988 Sure, but there's no teaching assistant in a one on one lesson. Experiencing something yourself is still a really helpful way to learn, at the very least it will give an immediate understanding of the use and effectiveness of a move.

I'm not even sure this episode qualifies as filler per se because I think it's actually in the manga. I typically think of "filler" as clip/recap shows and stuff that's not in the manga. The OVAs qualify as filler. If we're talking "what advances the plot?" all of the movies are technically filler.
Best Jeanist is my favorite non-Deku, non-Allmight character in the show. But his approach just doesn’t work here. Had I been the mentor, I would have said “Well, if you’re not man enough, not hero enough, to learn what to do, I guess you will just always be a low ranked hero. I guess being ranked 1000 isn’t the worst fate. Someone has to be.” Bakugo needs a challenge, he needs to prove you wrong, he needs to show how good he can be.
I don't agree with you saying this is a filler episode. This was an important episode for Su's character development and will be referenced later in the series
Filler in anime doesn't mean not important, it means not directly from the source material. This still fits in the canon because it's expansion on what the manga tells us Tsuyu was up to here, but it is still filler.

3:14 no, montana is right, this intro sucks
@@bradstrife2211 Filler generally refers to non canon material. This is all canon, so it's very misleading to say here.
I think I'm accidentally outing myself as a furry, but I think Selkie's hot. There, I said it. I will now move to Florida and get a fursuit, embracing my shame 🤣🤣🤣
They are so lucky villains never really kill in this show.
Would be nice to see a hero having problems with accepting doing "the right thing" after the villain kills the hostage for not complying with his demands...
i mean ... that is kinda what deku and tomura's current storyline is all about
Great video, you should watch jojos bizarre adventure next if you haven't already
YUSSS! Especially Stardust Crusade! "OH MY GOD!" 😂😂😂
As a player of the MHA: Strongest Hero, I hate that octopus villain to the bottom of my heart 😡😤
Please think about reacting to One Piece! Even though it has over 1,000 episodes, it’s really good!!!
autological word maybe.
I hate to keep bringing this up but you guys should really check out JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012) my favorite part personally is Part 5 (you know you know)(>------>)
my 2nd least fave intro song....the visuals are dope af tho
Is bakugo y'alls favourite?
I'm pretty sure Floppy did the wrong thing during the hostage situation. For all she knew, her actions would have caused the death of her mentor. Escalating a smuggling to a murder. But yes, she was under orders to do as she did, so the fault was on her mentor.
If she hadn't, then these people who for all she knew were willing to kill, would have gotten away. She did the right thing.
@@delaneykeller1389 Smugglers getting away is better than someone getting killed. In any normal hostage situation, you want to deescalate the situation. But if your mentality is all about winning at any cost, no matter who dies, then I don't think hero is the correct word.
I think this video is going taken down. The music whey to clear
But love your video ❤
Kenny, “It’s weird how someone who’s quirk seems long distance would be good at close combat.”
Stain, “Did you really learn nothing from me?”
you guys should watch dragon ball z abridged it’s a parody of dragon ball z but it is very good and it would bring in a whole different audience.
Froppy was cool until she made a certain someone’s abduction all about herself. Never liked the character again afterwards.
@@PeakSight-kv6wi yes when she cried and made everyone come console her outside, after almost getting killed by the league of villains. Completely killed her character for me.
Oh no the filler episode.
This "filler" episode can hardly be considered that. It's in the manga and definitely affects Froppys character going forward
You didn't have to watch it, you could've ignored the video
@@daurydavis3983 Your wisdom is unparalleled. Truly.
I’m sorry but my hero has some of the worst openings. They aren’t good they are okay at best but some of them suck
Is Peace Sign one of the okay at best? Or also bad
Well that's just straight up delusional, all the MHA openings are really popular songs even apart from the show.
It's either you don't listen to the songs well or you are just biased on MHA openings😮
dude can you not hold hands with your girl, kinda making us single guys feel bad. and how did you get a girl as a guy who watches anime?
As married anime waifu, LET DEM HOLD HANDS. It's damn adorable. ;)
@@RobinNicoagain I'm here to watch them react not to be reminded of my sad life. But yeah they're adorable, at least one of us guys won in life
Talking about women like a pokemon for you to catch rather than someone you want to spend your life with probably doesn't help.
@@scribblesketch so what do you suggest I do
@@younglingslayer4520 Think as a girl as someone that cares for you and that you care for ‼️ maybe you'll get one then
