Initial thoughts - Engineer friendly for game asset creators. Not for artists. But later i see that its not so bad. Tedious like houdini(or other overly node/script based package) but that also means more power.
That's a great take- it takes an educated artist that understands how the tree parts work together in order to script the tree. We do have lots of easy-to-copy features...but those scripts can be as lightweight or as sky-is-the-limit as you'd like them to be. They are incredibly empowering to the later pipeline process.
That's all fancy stuff, but as a game developer I'd like to be able to fine tune a tree model depend on LOD level, so can I get the LOD level in the script?
Hi there, where can I find a complete reference doc for functions I can use in rules? Like lerp_curve_to_curve(). Is it a SpeedTree function? The documentation for rules in the user manual is nice and good for the first steps. Even this video is very helpful for orientation and for the first steps. But I can not find any sort of reference manual for those (SpeedTree?)functions I can use in the Lua script.
Hi! I'm one of the technical artists for SpeedTree. Thanks for your feedback! We're actively working on improving our Rules documentation, and we're creating more tutorials for Rules, too. Keep an eye out!
This is such a good tutorial! Everything made sense. ❤
That's hands down the coolest feature in ST10!
I love the light and upbeat narration btw. I actually had some fun following it😅👏
Thank you @rabellogp, our narrator is Genevieve Gagnon!

That can also be scripted and you can also swap out models and see the LODS on each separate tree- it's really quite powerful!
