The range is great as is the interior, yes the rear design is basic but we don’t care about that, it’ll do the job very nicely indeed. Cheers.

    That is a 'spot on' EV, the future's looking good. Trouble is, still too expensive and I imagine it will be near enough impossible to get one? A 1 year waiting list from KIA again? Still, have to start somewhere. The cost has to come down eventually.
    Funny old world; who'd have thought that one day cars like KIA, Hyundai and Skoda would have been taken seriously? They were always the butt of jokes, lumped in with Lada and the like.

    Another great and honest review. Finally we have EV's that'll do 260 to 280 miles on full charge - we just need the infrastructure! I've just driven 290 miles on holiday with 1 stop of 20 minutes - which would be enough on a 100kwh charger, which I asume the car has as it's sister cars are the same. Not many 100kwh chargers around though, still mostly 22, 44 and 50, turning that stop into 40 or even 80 minutes, which is too long!

    Completely agree about the charge points in train stations. I see the same 2 cars parked in the local bays every day commuting 8-5pm. The 2 closest bays to the exit in a huge car park. Tempted to buy an EV just to park it there at 6am every morning 😂

    • @paulgoffin8054
      @paulgoffin8054 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That just means there should be more. Rail stations should have dozens of standard/fast (7kW) chargers so commuters can charge while at work.

    • @paddydowney6269
      @paddydowney6269 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Paul Goffin correct, but bobs point (as is mine), is that by its definition having them in commuter stations means EV drivers take them up for the whole day. There’s no point in having them on the satnav if your range is low during daytime because they’ll be hogged and no owner in sight for hours.

    • @paulgoffin8054
      @paulgoffin8054 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paddydowney6269 I see. Yes, the sat nav certainly needs a filter - if you're on a trip, you need a rapid charger, not a fast one.
      But that's a point about the sat nav, not the actual chargers.

      That's because of Production Capacity limitation. Long Range BEV require massive amount of batteries, that is very difficult to produce. Humanity has never manufacture batteries at that scale before. This is a very new Manufacturing Challenge. It hurts more when you are comparing to a 4 Pot engine vehicle which is heavily paid off old technology.

    Have to say Kia are doing a great job and offering some new competition to the Leaf which will push all the car makers. You can bet VW is taking notice. Even more impressive as sales of EVs in Korea are low. If even SUVs can offer competitive EV then that will go along way as most SUVs are not going offroad and are mostly urban driving at sedate speeds to insure the toddlers in the back dont get carsick

    Wowww! ...almost $40,000 and it only goes 243 miles??? NOPE!!! NO SALE! Give me 400+ miles, 10 min. full-recharge (at a supercharger) with a price tag of $25K and I 'might' consider it. Right now, I, and TENS of MILLIONS of car buyers, have no real incentive to change from ICE to thousands of batteries - where we have to "pay more, to get less".

      tesla are rip offs, supercharging also degrades batteries.
