    Hi
    Thank you very much for all the information. I have a question. Your Solidworks 2D drawing should prepare for zero and home point, and you had to look upside down so that, for example, the scara offset x and y will be 200, -120. What if you see the Solidworks drawing exactly right. Then the x + axis is to the right, the y + axis to the top and the z - axis from the screen to the top (the z axis will be the same). If we write the coordinates with this perspective to Marlin and change the limit switch pin to "+" except for the z axis (z axis still in "-"), should this work (x, y, z home direction is still -1 because we are approaching limit switches, but for positive direction this time for x and y)?

When I try to home all axis, the Y homes nicely(while the X is moving away from the endstop), but then the X skips entirely and proceeds to the Z axis. If I try to home the X manually, it works perfectly. Do you have an idea, why that could be? Thanks in advance!

    Hello, I am guided by this project to make my scara type 3d printer, however when I enter a G1 the robot does not move, while with the G0 it works as in the video, I do not know if you have any advice, it should be reported that because it is an arm the G1 should make linear trajectories while the G0 non-linear movements.

    Just an idea I had after watching the start of your video, you say you dont need the 4th rotary axis on the end effector as you are mounting the laser there.
    Most of the lower cost diode lasers dont have round beam shapes and they give a rectangular beam spot, as a result you find they will give higher power when travelling along that narrower axis.
    My thought is if you used the rotary axis to turn the laser head you could keep it aligned along that axis to maximize power, most important when cutting with the laser.
    My other thought was this may not be too difficult if you processed the file to be used as though it was to done with a drag knife engraver ? maybe there is already software that will keep the head aligned for that purpose ?
    Anyway nice project !

    With this laser power you should think about some enclose, it is enough to irreversible damage your eye within a glimpse.
    Also a fume extraction would be good because of the toxic gases and particles.

    Hey, thank you very much for the coolest content. Creativity. Looking at your site, I noticed two projects where you use the same tool, laser engraving machine by "scara robot" and laser engraving machine by "simplest CNC machine", I guess the question, what is the use of laser in scara even though there is a simpler CNC machine that is easier to use and less expensive, but most of those interested in this field use the same idea of the simplest CNC machine as it develops. scara . is not used

  • @ScottLahteine
    @ScottLahteine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How does the SCARA kinematics and homing logic in Marlin work out for you? Do you need any more changes / improvements to get everything working well? I introduced a “scara feedrate scaling” factor at one point to deal with the difference between degrees-per-second versus mm-per-second, and that should have an obvious positive effect on laser engraving. And I also have in reserve some alternative kinematics (to deal with XY tool offsets) and improved homing (Z first, to the top and “quick homing”) for a SCARA like yours (with a rotating base), originally made for the defunct MakerArm project. There is even mesh leveling. Some of those changes should eventually get integrated into Marlin. At one point I also repaired the old laser plugin for Inkscape, but it looks like the plugin you used is superior.

    • @HowToMechatronics
      @HowToMechatronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Scott, thanks for the incredible work you put in the Marlin firmware.
      Just like I said in the video, I had some problems with the homing, I opened up a issue request on Github #22233.
      I managed to get it somehow working with commenting few lines just like explained in the video, but still it's not working 100% as it should be.
