One of the best DVD commentaries ever. I swear it's this one where John Carpenter says something about how all of his movies wind up as cult classics, before Kurt Russell jokes "Have you ever thought about making a movie that's popular when you release it?"
Dude check out the Starship Troopers one.. there's like 4 of them heckling everything and saying "god damn bugs whacked us johnny" like every 10 minutes
John Carpenter is the best director ever at making something a parody while still being able to take the story seriously. He trusts the audience to get the joke and doesn’t have to explain it.
over rated beyond belief. He doesn't trust the audience, he has to all but wink and stare into the camera and say "this is satire, aren't i funny!"@@orangewarm1
It's like - "Yes, we know this is silly. The monster is silly. It's a dude in a silly furry suit and a silly mask and loping around doing a silly walk and we're not even TRYING to pretend that it's NOT! Of COURSE we're laughing at it!" 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sure the beers they were drinking all through the commentary helped. 👍😎
I feel that Captain Ron is just a version of Jack Burton retired and drunk. Amazing perfomance. That scene when he parks the boat and immediately jumps to the shore to get a cocktail is gold.@@JZStudiosonline
@@alexvaldiers9788 It's a shame it got panned as "Being a worse *What about Bob?*" It's not even really that similar and I never thought so until I read reviews about it. But Angelique's no cretin boss, she's puerto rican!
I've listened to John Carpenter and Keith Gordon commentary on Christine recently. I was shocked and apalled at the two of them staying on topic and talking about behind the scenes stuff.
He mentions it at the beginning, I think he says he hadn’t seen it in years but he had seen it on number of occasions. Kurt Russel is one of the few who actually watches his films, he talks about Captain Ron and Goldie Hawn told a story recently of them two watching Overboard in bed.@@Madagon367
Legit one of my favourite films of all time. Cheesy as hell, terrific fun, a main character who's a total klutz, and endlessly quotable dialogue. Great stuff.
I would love to see a cinema appreciation show where Russell and Carpenter screen films, crack jokes, point out random movie trivia, and laugh the whole time.
The elevator scene is one of my favorites. Where everyone is high and totally feeling themselves. Everyones expressions were classic and totally relatable. Especially since it is fairly universal that the total opposite is the true reality.
Maybe I'm just an 70s/80s (movies) fan, but it seemed like the New Breed of moviemakers back then didn't just change movies, but the Way movies were made. They seemed to actually have Fun and Really Enjoy the journey. It wasn't just a job they loved doing. It was a something they Liked to do
He does mention the beers were good at the end. I suspect more than just beer was involved. But hey - they had a good time. WE are having a good time. It's all good. I love this commentary and those two guys are GOLD.
You ought to listen to Arnie on Total Recall. Verhoeven is trying to discuss the technical aspects of filmmaking and Arnie just audio describes his fighting LOL
Raves: 😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Big Trouble in Little China was soooooo funny. I never laughed so hard in all my life. An absolutely hilarious film. An epic instant classic. Kurt Russel had by far all the best lines. Really, really good film, action packed and full of constant one liners. The camp is so perfectly timed it is just bonkers. I still say the film lines. One mild rant: The film could have done without the phrase, “Now that really Pis*** me off,” but oh well. This film is beloved by children to this very day and it’s 2024.
Would love one more Escape film. I know they worked together on Elvis first, but Escape From New York was the real beginning of their partnership, it properly relaunched Kurt’s career.
Buy The Thing, Escape from New York and Big Trouble. All have great commentaries BUT John Carpenters vampires and They Live have fantastic ones. They Live has Piper spouting facts and laughing his ass off

Paul Verhoeven?

Modern people are still confused abiut Starship Troopers. Subtlety is lost on general audiences. Especially today.
@@badlaamaurukehu no its just Verhoeven sucks at making actual satire, and just makes tongue in cheek good action films.
The part at 1:29, where it cuts to the monster and, without context, they both are just dying, it fucking kills me lmao
It's like - "Yes, we know this is silly. The monster is silly. It's a dude in a silly furry suit and a silly mask and loping around doing a silly walk and we're not even TRYING to pretend that it's NOT! Of COURSE we're laughing at it!" 🤣🤣🤣

"I love your performance in this, of course, my favorite performance is still Captain Ron."
lol
Truly, nobody can be quite so cruel as your best friends lol
@@Blisterdude123 Captain Ron is a great role. Used Cars on the other hand..

If I had a nickel for every one eyed character Kurt Russell played, I would have two nickels. But it’s weird it happened twice.
They had as much fun making the movie as they are watching it.
John Carpenter and Kurt Russell could film beer commercials and it’d be epic.
Their laughter is contagious. They sound like truck drivers having a good chuckle.
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP @mikedavis8008
0:56 "This location has been used a hundred times now. I actually saw it in a porn film the other night..." 🤣🤣🤣
The best part about that sentence is that it comes after a few minutes of silence, which just makes it better.
"That's...DEFINITELY not me"
2:08 perfectly sums up John Carpenter/Kurt Russell audio commentaries haha.
Love that tbh
One of the best commentaries that I've ever heard and about 5 minutes was spent discussing the actual movie! LOL!
I've listened to John Carpenter and Keith Gordon commentary on Christine recently. I was shocked and apalled at the two of them staying on topic and talking about behind the scenes stuff.
Curt reacting to the scenes the way the rest of us do. Fantastic!
Pretty sure like most actors who never watch their movies he's never seen it before doing the commentary.
The genuine joy is just infectious, they both have great laughs, too!
One of my favorite movies as a kid. I was 10 or 11 when I saw this and it blew all of our minds when it came out.
Legit one of my favourite films of all time. Cheesy as hell, terrific fun, a main character who's a total klutz, and endlessly quotable dialogue. Great stuff.
Kurt is such a legend. Jack Burton should’ve had sequels
John Carpenter helped write a comic book that is a Canon sequel to the movie
I would love to see a cinema appreciation show where Russell and Carpenter screen films, crack jokes, point out random movie trivia, and laugh the whole time.
“Poor Jack…Can’t get that guy off…”. Pun intended by Mr. Carpenter I’m sure.
You know you've got a great friend when you can laugh together like this 😄
The elevator scene is one of my favorites. Where everyone is high and totally feeling themselves. Everyones expressions were classic and totally relatable. Especially since it is fairly universal that the total opposite is the true reality.
When your own perfomance and movie makes you genuinely laugh and happy, you know you did it right.
They Live and Escape from New York have great commentary tracks too
I watched this 100 times in the last week, thank you for this masterpiece of a video
damn i almost forgot how many ppl had the jc denton pfp like in 2020
@@idkyet4924 a denton pfp is a huge red flag

This is hilarious and should have way more views, thank you!
Hi Jackie chan
Those two are really good Friends and that's why John Carpenter's Movies are so great 😘👌
Big Trouble in little China 4Life 👊
This made my day
We should all thank our lucky stars that this movie exists.
This film is one of my all time favourites. It's great that Kurt and John sound like they had as much of a blast making as I did just watching it.
"As I recall you guys took some drugs."
These two really have the most infectious laughter!
I don't often watch the audio commentaries. This is one of the best ones!
How do you know if you don’t listen to them?
@@gunsharck I had to think about that one. And then I read my own initial comment. Lol
One of the best dvd commentaries ever!
Thank you to the director of Buckaroo Banzai, W.D. Richter, for writing this gem.
Are they high or what the hell is going on here!?🤣
High on life!
Super duper bestest friends of all lifetimes that ever lived... EVUR.

You can hear some drinks being poured during The Thing's commentary track so they might be slightly tipsy.
He does mention the beers were good at the end. I suspect more than just beer was involved. But hey - they had a good time. WE are having a good time. It's all good. I love this commentary and those two guys are GOLD.
Sounds like they approached this audio track the way Lee Van Cleef would have - with a six pack.
They actually mention him in the Escape from New York commentary. Lee struggled to walk
Now I have to go out & buy the dvd because of their commentary😂. Just great🤦
This is my all time favorite movie ❤
Thank you for this. These two are hands down the best duo for commentaries

“This really pisses me off to no end” is my favorite line in the entire film 🤣
Love that movie, and The Thing
Quality - The hallmarks of a very epic and much loved work of art!
This is incredible 😂😂😂
Captain Ron is an amazing movie.
Pure gold
Jack Burton is an icon of America films .
this will always be a classic idc lol. my grandmother showed me it way back when. i hold it to heart
I gotta watch the actual commentary now, both their laughs are contagious 🤣👌
How does one watch commentary?
Thank you for making these compilations.
It's all in the reflexes.
that captain ron joke killed me lol savage
Another great Kurt Russell commentary is Used Cars with Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Kurt laughs probably even more than in this. Hilariously funny
😂
That’s right he does!
Good god. This is great!
I hear Stuntman Mike’s laugh just before getting wrecked lol
Sounds like John's that one buddy that can pry Kurt away from the old lady to just hang like the ole days
Yes sir the checks in the mail!
It's pure magic
This is exactly how I reacted watching this movie. Such a gem. Need more movies like this today
I'm convinced Kurt Russell became famous for his infectious laughter alone. Acting ability was secondary at best.
This is the perfect perspective from which to watch this movie
i feel like john carpenter well in front of the camera than behind at this point just put him in a buddy cop movie with kurt and see what happens
This is frigging hilarious!
That’s hilarious 🤣
Fun movie, and I can just listen to the movie
this is just a fun movie
I GOTTA GET THE DVD OF THIS COMMENTARY IMA DO IT IMA WASTE THE MONEY
Hell I'll get Spaceballs commentary
The spaceballs commentary is crap mate. Just Mel blathering. I was really disappointed
This is great! Lol
Love the elevator scene
First of all seen both of these; this one and the thing. Your editing is marvelous. Also where did you get this footage and audio from?
It's a secondary audio track on the original DVD from 2001, but it's also on the current Blu-ray
Are you taking the piss mate? It’s the commentary!!
I think 💭 this is the audio commentary from big trouble in little China on 📀 and blu ray.
