I love this idea! I'd kinda like a sequel where we find that it's not so uncommon for people to win over all sorts of eldritch horrors, and otherwise malicious entities. Maybe most of the ancient gods of humanity were really just ultra powerful baddies that decided humanity was more fun alive and free than dead or subjugated.
If you were taken from your home and bound, imprisoned and forced to grant wishes to those who bind and imprison you, I could not fault you for fulfilling those wishes with malicious intent.
Yeah, there are lots of semi-serious HFYs where the usual monsters mess up the xeno scum for humanity. I was thinking more along the lines of a cheesy Avengers spoof, though. So I guess the radically different tone wouldn't make it a sequel to this story. It'd still be funny as heck.
Great story, even if it went in a direction I did not expect. I thought it would end with demons raging against their captivity as they powered starships of the Human Imperium. Instead, a demon took revenge on those who killed his human friends. 🙂

hoppe there be some nice follow up tales of him covertly ensuring samir's research not is forgotten and well... and well , if a demon only is a bonus when opening a rift of infinitive thermal energy and to trick the local fabric of space time to ..fold.. perhaps some clever well placed observations , actions.. both for fellow demons and mortals alike make so at least human crews can have demonic additions to the security or engineering teams just as trade stations might have the rare certified civil demon resident.. after all ,it only took for samir to treat him fairly to start make a demon bond with a human pack ;)
So, the aliens determined that the demon magic was too dangerous to mess with, so they immediately mess with it by attacking, and then having the danger of it confirmed to them! What could possibly go wrong with that plan?? ugh
