    Thank you for the true and useful review, as always. Those paid journalist reviews only show the pros (obviously), but with your reviews we get to see some cons as well, and make informed decision on buying.

    Have had mine do a average 48 MPH at 230 pounds but down hill can get close to 55 MPH so I'm going to lose 50 pound's to go faster lol. The low idea is easy to fix. Use the chock a bit for a minute and it's fine. The dim lights are just the low idea. Adjust it a bit and you are ok lol. I love the bike for the price. Don't like the mears but not a big deal. The breaks suck for sure

    So it's a Scooter ad not a motorcycle? $1807 , is a good price for a Scooter made by Honda Motors. May work for me living in Clearwater Beach Florida Pinellas County.

    You had me nervously unimpressed into that head wind only barely breaking 40 lol I had a ruckus with over 30 thousand miles on it that would do 43 on flat ground, but as you mentioned you had a heavy head wind which became obvious when you turned around, and I’m sure it will improve when it gets broken in a little bit. Looking forward to seeing everything you do to it and more importantly the trips your going to take on it 👍

      My 2020 Ruckus is working overtime at 38mph top speed, 39mph downhill. 3700 miles. My 315lbs self doesn't help the speed lol. It's all stock, so may be time for Polini variator and some Dr. Pulley sliders. Was yours all stock or modded?

    I have the navi , the first thing that I did was to change the front light and the dashboard light to led , H4 and a T10 and change the rear wheels , with 120/17 -10 for stability , it is pretty fun bike to ride , very cool!!👍

    • @QuasiMotard

      Do you have the new US-spec NAVI? Do you have any problems running the LED headlamp from the AC supply instead of DC? I'm thinking about converting the head/tail light to DC with a relay.
      Last question... do you have any clearance problems with the wider rear tire next to the rear CBS brake arm? That clearance is really tight on my bike. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    • @TheLeo6890
      @TheLeo6890 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@QuasiMotard Im sorry , I have the 2021 version from south america market but i think there is not big differences except for the brake lever on the foot. About the electronics you have to bypass the headlamp and connect it to the battery so when you turn on the key the headlamp and the dashboard light would turn on , also you can do this and put a switch if you dont want to work that way but i recommend you if you are not good with electronics to take it with an electrician, I dont have changed the rear light yet so im still pressing the brake to be "visible". Regardind the rear tire i think the maximun fit is 120/70 - 10 michelin citygrip , it also works the michelin S1 100 /90 - 10 because the space between the wheel and the engine is tight but is better to have a wider tire especially with rainy weather.

    • @georgephillips7408
      @georgephillips7408 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLeo6890 a wider tire in rainy weather does not improve traction it will improve dry handling but as soon as a slip comes if you do it's worse to break traction on a wider tire

    Never really considered a motorcycle until this came to the states. I don't really need a motorcycle, but I need a bit more than a traditional scooter. I had a Honda Elite when I was a teenager and loved it, but not quite enough for longer drives. I think this is the perfect little boost over a scooter into a usable city and country vehicle. Freeways aren't my thing even when I'm driving a car/truck 50-55 is all I need for top speed.

    So the navy is of course very inexpensive and that’s cool but for me, I would rather pay more money and get the cub because I would really want the fuel injection and lock brakes in the front gears styling and some of the other features that the cub has that the he does not, but it is nice that there is such an inexpensiveboat of transportation that will work, but I guess you have to tinker with it a little bit but if you get something that’s carbureted you should probably expect that a little bit

I followed your cannonball run using your cub and had planned on using the Rebel for Scotland but after seeing your adventures changed to the Super Cub I am glad I did the pass to Applecross was a doddle on the easy flickable cub and the single track roads on the North Coast 500 proved to be very manageable on the cub.

    CF-Moto built a scooter in motorcycle clothing like that back in the 2000s. It had standard hand control brakes with no foot brake. But it was sold as a motorcycle. Thats where the problem came when they imported it to the US. As a scooter, that was legal. As a motorcycle, it was not. By law, every motorcycle sold in the US is required to have a right hand front brake and a right foot rear brake control system. The law as I understand it was to standardize controls because american bikes had right foot brakes an british imports had left foot brakes. They imported them to the US from 2006 to 2012 then some beurocrat took issue with them. I believe they were supose to recall all of them. I have one so clearly that didn't actually happen. But I bet that has something to do with the brake layout. Honda is selling these as motorcycles so they have to have foot rear brakes in the US to pass our standardised motorcycle controls law.

    You got yours from Mexico???? Why was it $2,600 out the door? I thought mexico had 'em for $1,600 out the door.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, all of the USA Navi's originate from Mexico, but they're not sold at Mexico prices! It seems like most people are paying between $2,400-2900 out the door at most dealers in the USA. Some dealers have been price gouging and quoting $3500-4,000 out the door, which is absolutely insane for a bike that has an $1807 MSRP.
      The dealer freight charges are heavily over inflated, and the bike prep coming out of the crate is super simple.. only takes about 10 minutes. You can watch my live unboxing video here if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/64QG635R7aM/w-d-xo.html . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Oh it tops out at 45? I was really excited but 55 is a minimum since I live off a highway

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Highway duty is something that the Navi just can't do comfortably. My top speed is ~53 mph under ideal circumstances, but it's closer to 47-50 mph in most conditions.
      Fuel economy is another sore spot for most Navi owners. Honda advertises 110 MPG, but real world use yields closer to 75 MPG. That figure combined with the Navi's 0.9 gallon fuel tank means that I can only ride ~65-67 miles before empty. That's not great range for a commuter machine, and it's less than convenient for a run-around or delivery bike.
      We'll see if the economy improves after a carburetor adjustment and a set of Dr.Pulley slider weights in the variator. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    This looks like a lot of fun for a new rider like myself. I'm intrigued but worried its limited top speed would actually be dangerous if used to commute on a highway with cars traveling 60-70mph. I guess that's not its intended purpose. Also, being a CVT automatic makes it much easier to ride but wonder if I would need to learn how to shift a proper bike in order to obtain a motorcycle license.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Starting out on a scooter or semi-automatic motorcycle (e.g., Super Cub) actually helps a lot of riders get into riding more comfortably. Not needing to focus on shifting gears and smooth clutch actuation frees up the rider's focus for other tasks like balance, smooth power application, braking, cornering, etc. You can always transfer those skills onto other motorcycles later if/when you decide to move into larger machines.
      Some of Honda's larger bikes have the optional DCT (dual clutch transmission) that takes care of the shifting for you. It's available on the NC750X DCT, Rebel 1100 DCT, and the GoldWing DCT. The DCT feels completely different than a CVT because there is no rubber band slippage in the transmission. The transmission has actual gears (6-7 speeds), a chain or shaft final drive, and clutches that are controlled by the computer. You just give it throttle and the computer takes care of the rest! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Since you brought up the floppy lever issue,for the Navi can you get away with using only one brake,since both brake lever and pedal are linked?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question! The CBS will only apply a certain percentage of braking force from the rear pedal into the front brake (probably ~30%, but I don't know the exact specs or mechanical advantage that Honda's CBS system uses).
      You could certainly brake with just the rear and rely upon the CBS for the front, but you would be losing out on a LOT of braking force. The front wheel(s) usually accounts for 65-70% of braking performance on any vehicle due to weight transfer and tire contact patch dynamics. The NAVI's drum brakes aren't spectacular performers, so you really need to use a lot of force to stop in a reasonable distance. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I didn't ride any faster than ~30 MPH with my daughter onboard. I would estimate the top speed to still be around 50 MPH with that load, but it would take a while to accelerate up there. I made several full-throttle acceleration runs up to 25-30 MPH, and it performed about the same as 1/2 throttle with only me onboard. 😉👍 --QM
