Great idea on the cage Kai. I usually always get a cage, I have one sitting on my shelf right now for the a6500, but I could always get screw and adapt it to the bottom of the mic to mount it on the right side.
I don’t understand, I have the G9 and I don’t get wobble in my frame . I use the 8-18 Panasonic Leica. What lens are you using?

I was searching for info on the a6400 and was quite happy to see a Kai W video near the top of my search results. Great review. I think the a6400 will do what I want it to do but the image stabilization is definitely lacking for walking type video.

What is the best camera for vlogging with a flip up screen? I currently have the RX100 III and looking to upgrade.. don’t really like the look of the “jello” effect on this one..

Thank you finally, someone, out there who thinks the cage is the best I have been saying from launch day just use a cage every time someone complains about there mic or using some weird contraption. Great video.

a6400 video looks better after grading and nice LUT forms..

great review! I am thinking about purchasing this camera for vlogging my travels as well as being a great stills camera. Quick question though, how big of a difference would an optically stabilized lens make to the stability of video? Any thoughts?
I think the missing stepping stone is a metaphor for choosing camera equipment! You get out in the middle of the practice of photography, and you take pause...then you have to take a chance to keep going. And in the end you get bogged down (the mud...) but you have to keep going. The A6400 seems like a good choice for those of us using something like the A6000, which lacks the quick and sticky AF. If you have lenses with OSS then you can excuse the lack of IBIS. But I am just an amateur...without deep pockets! And the cage idea is brilliant!

I don't like the fact that when this came out so many people value the camera after it's vlogging capabilities. That's just wrong. Thanks for sharing more than other on this camera.
For a person new to photography most videos just are so negative and basically tell you that you need IBIS and a flip screen, I bet it's really misleading to amateurs.
Also I had to pause at 8:58 and wipe something up real quick.

Hey Kai - currently filming on a sony a7 - its major drawback is that it doesn't capture 4k. I am currently thinking upgrading to either the a6400 or the a7ii ... what are your thoughts?

hi everyone. is there any way to monitor audio with headphones? I could use a Ninja recorder and plug in headphones into that but then the LCD screen on the camera blacks out correct? and I don't want to add more weight to the camera....any hot shoe accessory etc I can use to listen to the audio as i record it? thanks!

Love that it is a brilliant stills camera but would love anything longer than a 210mm E mount lens to use it for some entry level wildlife and sports. I have the 100-400 FE mount so I suppose could use that but love that on the A7iii. Anyone know if the will be releasing longer e-mount lenses anytime soon? Or is the rumour that they will eventually move all cameras to full frame more true?
What is the difference between S&Q mode vs the interval shooting feature that you can do as well. I have one but I’m not sure what the difference is.

I bought it for the 120fps @1080p for slow mo. If you're processing 4k that pc has to be really good.

kai, i watched others video who shot on sony 6400 in 4k and watch them on 720p resolution, but why others video looks better.? is it something about editing or rendering setting?
