I live near the coast on the Bay of Fundy and we get whales in these waters too. Awesome creatures. Thank you for showing them respect and looking out for them. The world is big enough for all of us creatures.
always. there are too many whale deaths from bad boaters :(. around here not slowing down or stopping is highly frowned upon. in BC you're not even allowed to fly a drone over a whale - huge fine if you do.

I am in North Dakota so I do get nine months of winter but since I discovered a girl cant really freeze her butt off or any other storage areas 😉 I would like to bail and move on 😄 Id love to live in the PNW again. Spent 13 years in Vancouver WA and my gosh I miss the trees and rain and Winters that dont hurt so bad. You girls have a great week!

I live in Cape Town and am blessed to be able to see whales every season from our home. We have bunches of paddle skiiers - (like a kayak) & I have seen whales heading towards them but they haven't seen them til they were meters away. Then there was a lot of shouting as the front paddlers tried warning those behind. It was so entertaining. No harm done to any of them. We get Southern Right whales. I also have issues with trying to get photos. Your videos are very peaceful.
i had to google Southern Right Whales. they can be about 10 feet longer than humpbacks! that's huge! One day i'll invest in a good long lens :)!! thanks for watching!

Oh how exciting to see whales. Peach is beautiful and what a joy to be able to have a picture of her as a puppy. We seem to share the same love for dog breeds. I’ve owned 2 Bernese, 1 Newfoundland 1 Landseer and now I have a Leonberger. 😊

@@AmandaOffGrid. They have a relationship among themselves so they have to stay where Peaches can interact with them. Yep you probably ought to warn the squirrels about Ole Speedy there. They probably already know about her marvelous abilities and so they just have a fun lil game they drill on for fun. That whale story about sittin in a boat atop a bait ball was almost hard to believe but knowing how the smart lil fishies try to defend against the leviathan it’s very believable. I mighta had thoughts about gettin the dingy ready to board cuz you were totally surrounded and those big ones needed to take the bait ball opportunity while they had it. Too awesome to be that lucky. You may have the unusual characteristic of an aura that attracts the creatures to your locale. Smart that you pulled ahead quickly to spare that whale a bump on the head by putting your vessel in peril. Truly wonderful life you live there in a ‘cool’ paradise. It’ll be nice if you can catch a whale breaching competition amongst your visitors. Be safe and well. Glad you received pics of your sweet companion Peachy. Thanks for thinking of us your viewers.
haha... no, no special aura. many of the kayak guides i spoke to had a similar experience multiple times last summer. there were so many whales everywhere! one kayak guide said at one point him and his group were surrounded by 21 whales.
i was scared when the one came up behind me, but as soon as he dove i was good :). i get more nervous when i start to move... so anxious one of them is going to surface in front of me and i'll hit 'em... that hasn't happened though :)
Your whale story terrified me!😳 How wonderful to know more about Peaches past. She was an adorable puppy! What mix is she? She's a very big dog. You should do her DNA.

Beautiful for 2 days here, then a bit overcast, but getting nice again now. I'm a sun lover 😅. Lots of whales around now. Are you going to get some time cruising on your boat this summer?
hi :). yes, the forecast said a very hot weekend... so far i've had to light the fire every morning and evening. i miss the sun i get on the boat for sure! in the cabin here it's dark almost all the time... sometimes i don't even realize how warm it is outside until i get out of the forested areas of the property! i bet you get loads of whales up there. i hope to get out on my boat. we'll see. Peach still hasn't gotten into the cabin. i have a few things i need to upgrade. at the absolute very least it'll be a summer of getting my boat ready to go!
ah that's so great :), thank you. the jugs on the porch are for drinking water. i had them on my boat and that's where i kept my water supply. i have a water tank on the boat, but would use that water for watching dishes, clothes etc. i use them here in the winter when it freezes and i have to turn the water off... or when i'm cleaning the big water tank.
Your whale encounter sounds incredible. When do humpbacks go thru your waters? Is it September? Good to hear there was enough fish for 16 humpbacks to feast. Seeing a fish ball like that and then seeing a giant mouth scoop them….wow.
Humpbacks start around now and will leave in Sept-October. They stayed pretty late last season. During the summer here you can see the herring moving through the water in great big patches. There is plenty for them to eat :)
I live on Shawville Quebec near Renfrew Ontario (80km from Ottawa) . Your groceries are at least double the price of ours here. Great video. I have been following you for some time now and thats based on when you were doing live aboard. I also lived on the island in '76 -'77 on the Malahat. Have fun.

Well that explains Peach somewhat. She is the type of dog that needs to work. She is probably not only fast, but could run 50 Kms a day. There isn't really enough room to do that on such a lush Island. Maybe you could teach her to swim? So many dogs are scared of the water, but can learn to love it.
Peach and i are working on the swimming. When she arrived she wouldn't go above her knees, but now she is going in up to her chin and shoving her whole face in the water to grab sticks etc. she has significantly webbed feet so she might be a natural once she gets brave enough.

I haven't sailed the Great Lakes, but in my teens I did go trout fishing on Lake Ontario - the Canadian side :).
