As much as I would never be anything without my kids, but my husband and I didn't really want children right away. I had parents who were kind of like this only not to the extreme as I never wanted to live with them. But you shouldn't force someone to have children. Some people aren't fit to be parents. I'm still learning and my oldest is turning 11 this year. But I hope Op is doing a heck of a lot better now she's not with someone so psychotic.

I think I missed something cause I thought the SIL while bragging to OP was single or something & got pregnant cause she knew how to get OP kicked out. I also expected the SIL to message Op back begging when she found out they're not going to have much money anymore but I guess the SIL doesn't know how bad it'll be yet since she's dealing with spending & resting due to pregnancy.
I hope the baby is ok since it sounds like the mom will be a shopaholic deadbeat that has affairs & the grandma is probably the only one caring for the kid but has to work cause they have no one else plus mom's debt. I wouldn't be surprised if the MIL eventually snapped, started treating her own daughter how she treated her DIL & forced the daughter to at the very least do chores & raise the kid or face being kicked out.(Likely with the mom going to court over the daughter neglecting the kid so the mom has them & forces daughter to pay child support)
