High Speed Union Pacific Trains across the Sunset Route in California

- Located about 2 hours to the East of the Los Angeles Basin, lies the Salton Sea. This desolate area of California's Sonoran Desert doesn't have much - except for trains. The Union Pacific Sunset Route, also known as the Yuma Subdivision in this territory, runs right through the heart of the Sonoran Desert. In this footage from mid-late 2018, you'll see various Union Pacific freight trains as they pass through this area. While some freights are slower than others, they can reach some higher speeds in this area! Much has changed since 2018, as a "PSR" model has fallen on Union Pacific, causing major consolidation of trains.
As always, thanks for watching! | Video and Content by MichaelLovesTrains 2020 - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I was a UP rail for 14 years. I’m very familiar with the Sunset run. I never thought I would miss it.
Nice job filming. Beautiful sky....HIGH BALL that roll by.
Wow, those guys really sail fast across that part of the desert! Impressive!
The mixed freight at 7:40 was awesome !
BIG TRAIN fan here in the state of Delaware and what you're capturing of these high speed "INTERMODAL" trains is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Thanks for sharing these and keep up the good work.
Some of us old guys in Montana sure love it
I’m a train lover and I love your videos. Thanks for taking your time to film and share your videos.
hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out how do i how to get a railroad job try Elumpa Railroad Jobs Alchemist (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my partner got amazing results with it.
Agreed. He does awesome work.
Is the track speed 70mph through this area?
Im very surprised from the first footage in this, our very own CN locos hauling your goods to their destination. Loving the speed trains also. Thanks for the video from Canada 👍🏼
Monorail 🚝
Absolute beasts, I see them often at low speed in my backyard 😀
18:30 Those SD70Ms are working hard. And those intermodals are phenomenal--stacked to the sky.
The K5HL is my favorite horn, especially the 3rd generation
Hey dude I love trains. Especially Union Pacific and CSX
great video Michael!
I Watched The Entire Video. Best 30 Minutes and 17 seconds of My Life. Your Railfanning Videos Are Awesome.
This is really great video!! The beginning of the part was my favorite because of the horn
Fantastic UP video!
Nice catch of these trains especially all of the stacked trains and occasionally a manifest and also a meet as well
watching trains go by, dreaming what lies behind the horizons , i would like to be when i grow up,
I just love the rapid succession real mainline action
Excellent, EXCELLENT Michael!!!!!!
@26:40....Train rolling through at sunset. Beautiful; good catch!
Nice UP catches!
I can't wait to get on a train and travel ouest and even down south. Thank you for sharing - TinyTrainTrack
Excellent video Michael, nice to see the trains at speed. Well done 🤓 🤓💙💙
Great compilation. Nice to see so many trains running. Big like👍
This video is awesome! Keep up the great work
I Love Trains And The Csx Locomotive
Fantastic!
I’m a big fan of UNION PACIFIC
I love going on that train track
Some nice speeds going through here, hopefully very little road crossing with zero collisions
As a UP employee who ran this route during this time it’s weird to see these monsters in this perspective.. 👍
Thank you for posting, my little one loves this! So do I 👍
Very cool passes!
I love train
Nice catches!
Excellent
Amazing sight
You know how to shoot trains: no zooming, phase out/in to change FL, phase out/in to skip the middle of the train (manifest trains might be interesting enough to show the whole thing, maybe), only the occasional crossing bells, smooth panning only at the right time. Well done! My only request would be more interesting lighting. You have some toward the end, but most lighting was a bit bland. (Can you shoot with a polorizer?)
Me encantan. Es estupendo ver la cantidad de trenes. Buen trabajo es brillante.
Awesome video, I love your vids!
Great video and compilation.
The only thing missing is that damn caboose.I always thought the caboose missing on a train was like the missing man fighter jet formation on trains.
So gnarly
Muito bacana os trens nos EUA aqui no Brasil são um pouco parecidos em alguns lugares
High Speed , Raw Power. Union Pacific.
The old Union Pacific doesn't come by here much anymore.
Nice video what equipment do you use to take videos and take pictures
That was great seeing them at high speed. CN at the beginning. Didn't know they came out West. How do you make the trains look squishy? Are you using two cameras and one has a unique lens?
CN doesn’t go in the west it was borrowed power
I LOVE TRAINS
I'm a Jerry Trainer lover too. Thank you
Does Union Pacific have active dash 9’s? I noticed the one at 10:33.
If I was driving a train, I would go the same speed as the train at 3:50
what are cn trains doing there?
Nice video this was back when trains were still normal size🤦🏽♂️🤮 now we run them at 15,000 feet and above
I have UP 2709 In HO scale awesome catches
SD70AH 9010 also has a good horn
Great action!!!
Also, everyone sees UP 4343. If I was a UP driver (in the future) 4343 and 4111 will trail behind the lead engine
2:52 that kind of sounds like the Amtrak Acela Express horn.
Could you make a big Railfanning in San Leandro Washington avenue please in those days. Thanks. Bless you.
Modern day excessories for rail cars and train engines studios paint the tracks
Can I use this video please it's for my intro
😊 How do you call the a train that train is so long do you play train train your simulator cuz I love it where you live in Australia or mangoes or Africa 🌍
15:55 gevo with a K5LLA?
Like your videos, but when you say "high speed" what does that mean? Can you give us a number or at least an estimate?
In most cases, outside of passenger trains, high speed freights are normally defined as doing 60 mph, or faster.
Thanks
Max speed on stack trains , intermodal 70
Max speed on most manifest trains 50
Auto racks 60
Tank cars 50
Hazmat trains 50
Sounds like f1 cars when it's going past
Love UP sadly I will only model [CSX]
What does PSR mean?
Precision schedule railroading. (Running longer trains, to eliminate crew members).
The average train length used to be a mile and a half now you can see them commonly up to 4 miles long. Locomotives are added in the middle & rear but are controlled by remote control from the engineer in the front.
What is landSTAR DOING on a train 2:29 Wow /BIG operation changes everywhere
3:15 never seen just transporting container chassis
On my way any presents lol
Sou apaixonado por Trens, sou do Brasil, parabéns pelos videos.
Eu tenho um canal rodas no trilho.
Trucks that run on coupling track rails.

Anyone gonna talk about the tier 4?
That first train is a CN

Looks like most of this video is east of Niland. Milepost 666 to 670 ( Iris)
Bro, let me take a video to take a photo of the train
