My father bought a LeMans in 1968, when I was 7 years old. He took great care of it and drove it during high school. We still have it and enjoy getting her out during the warmer months!
I own a 51k mile 1969 LeMans 4 door hardtop originally bought by my grandfather new off the showroom floor. It was a dealer demo car with a PHS verified 31 options. I am currently doing a rolling restoration as money permits. Some of my first memories involve this car, and, at this point, she is a lifelong member of the family. A plus if someone is considering buying a LeMans, parts availability is very good, both common parts and restoration parts and the purchase prices are usually reasonable.
Had a `72 LeMans GT (American model) which meant some shelf parts didn`t fit here in Canada. Acquired in 1986 for $700 & running great, it was bright orange with black interior & the reflective black/silver sidestripe. Fun car, fast enough in a straight line back then.
My dad had a GTO. His high school and college buddies called him “Wa”. As from that Little GTO song by Ronnie and the Daytonas. Listen to the song, they always sang that chorus when dad would see his friends out and about town. They were still calling him that at his funeral in 2012. Conversation always the same “Let me tell you what Wa did with that yellow GTO before you were born.”
Neighbor had a green 72 sedan that he drove well into the 90s. He called it the rusty, crusty trusty. That was a 350 2bbl car. I worked with a gal that had 2 Can Ams, almost identical, both primo examples. I got to drive 1 of them. I was impressed with it comfort yet sporty feel, solid ride, and nice handling. The 400 had plenty of punch and ran very smooth. I'd park 1 in my garage for sure, and I'm a Mopar guy!
The video had to much about the GTO. The LeMans was a vehicle in itself. Beautiful convertibles, awesome coupes, you tried to cover to many years at one time. It should have been 64 to 72. Those were the best years.
I had to start from its beginings then transition to the Tempest and then the Tempest LeMans, then the LeMans GTO. Lots to cover. I think I did a good job with all that was needed. Not many commercials on the old cars that I could find. Thanks for watching.
I bought a '72 lemans sport in '95 for $800.00 dollars it had 42 thousand miles on it. My mom new the owner she bought it brand new and true story she drove it to church, hairdresser and grocery store. It was a hard top hugger orange white interior car. I loved it. Unfortunately I went in the service and my dad sold it. I finally found it on a farm. But haven't been able to get it back yet. 😢. My now wife and I used to skip school in it and just drive around. But after school she left and so did the car. But I got the beautiful girl back just not the car.
Great read! I always say that this is what the channel is all about. Sure, we have those who have never read a script much less produce a video try to tell us how to create one. We love reading these stories! You got your beautiful girl back and I hope you get the car to complete the dream. Keep us posted!
Back in 84 my mom had a 1970 Lamans, we named Sam. Then we drove to Mexico from here in Colorado for a week and it caught fire on the way back somewhere in the middle of New Mexico and that was it for that car. Lol
Thank you for the video. Well put together. You forgot about Luxury Le Mans that arrived in the 70's. That base engine in the late 70's eventually became the turbo V6 used in the Grand National and the famous 3800 V6 used in many GM cars from the late 80's into the 2000's.
@@ThisOldCarChannel Don't mind me - I am just whining a little. My first car was a 67 Lemans so that is my overall favorite car. I was just bummed that there was not one in the video. As stated, it was very similar to the 66 with the 68 model having the extensive restyle.
My very first car of my own: the 1966 LeMans two door coupe in the GM unique turquoise color. It was powered by a 326 V8, two barrel carb. Oh...it was used. My dad "found it" via one of his work friends who's "side hobby" was cars he repaired. Dad bought it for...$650! (This was, by the way, September of 1970. It was a pretty good car, excluding a problem with the automatic transmission, which my folks paid for a rebuilt transmission replacement. Pontiac was a good line. Shame they (General Motors) didn't keep the product line.
I owned a 1967 LeMans 2 door hardtop with a 326 2 bbl carb. with a 2 speed automatic. I drove well over 230,000 miles before she quit on me. IMHO I think the 67 Tempest, LeMans, & G-T-O were the best looking.
Happy New Year, guys! 'First-gen LeMans is something I always wanted -- I would call it "Pre-T.O."! I got stuck later in my life with a '91 "LeMans" (if you want to call it that!)
@ yes, its the top of the A-bodies, from 68-77, I believe. Hard to believe a car that size was considered a mid-sized car lol Two years later, in 78, it became one of the downscaled G-bodies. 73-77 A-bodies had the same suspension design as the F-bodies Aside from being more luxurious, and a bit larger, it was quite similar to the LeMans/GTO/Grand Am line, especially mechanically speaking.
Had the '62, '64, '65, & a couple of '70's in the Pontiac A Body family fleet. Girls Take Over... cute, never heard that one, it was Gas Tires & Oil, or Grand Track Omega.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hey visit my ebay store for Classic Car posters! www.ebay.com/usr/paylessposter
My folks bought a new 1972 Pontiac LeMans COUPE, Dark green w/White Vinyl Roof/Green interior/Chrome mags. It was a really attractive car.

I had a T-37. I loved it.
I had my eyes on a 1967 hardtop coupe, but all the best ones were taken!

My grandfather had a ‘73 Sedan, and I had a ‘75 GT in high school in the eighties, and into my first couple of years in the Air Force, loved that car
Those mid to late 60’s hardtop coupes were the best looking IMO.
My dad had a GTO. His high school and college buddies called him “Wa”. As from that Little GTO song by Ronnie and the Daytonas. Listen to the song, they always sang that chorus when dad would see his friends out and about town.

We missed you guys welcome back and happy new year.
Happy new year!
I had a ‘73 luxury Lemans in Firethorn red. I loved the fender skirts. It had a big V8 with no guts.

Happy New Year! Love your videos especially this one. Thank you!
My brother, I've missed your content so much!! Happy new year and keep up the fantastic and entertaining content!!!!~~
Pontiac Le Mans and Ventura are in my wish list right next to a Grand Prix!!~
I owned a 71 Lemans Sport, still wish I had it.
Where did 1967 go?
Not much change. The nose and rear had a minimal difference. I should have included. Thanks for pointing that out.

230K miles for a 1967? WOW!
@@ThisOldCarChannel Yep! Bought it used in the late 70's, & the timing chain went out in late 81.

This looks so much like a classic hot wheel 5:28
Ive never owned a Lemans or GTO, BUT I do currently own a 76 Grand Prix J, 400-4 which is pretty close!
The Grand Prix is more upscale than a LeMans. I believe the Grand Prix at that time was actually GM’s most expensive mid size coupe.

The video was to short. Not enough pictures. To quick, but I appreciate you doing the video. Thank you.
Appreciate ya! Yeah, 11 min is long for me. lol Viewers have a very short attention span. Thank you so much for watching.
61-'77 the ONLY years of it's life... not that Daewoo thing they came out with don't count .
I had a 1974 Lemans sport coupe with a 350 it was the worst car I ever owned.
