    You might want to rethink doors on the fridge cabinet. I left them off mine after seeing the problems Jax had with his fridge compressor over heating. Air flow is key

    That link for the breaker goes to a breaker panel. And a breaker will not protect against surges, it will only protect from over current draws. You will need a "surge protector" to protect against surges.

    You also could maybe get a tiny piece of luan (sp?) and drop that on top of the wheel well, just so it has a finish, but luan is so thin that you wouldn't have to worry about the ply thickness

    • @jonw2945
      @jonw2945 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      * Luan or Lauan so you had it right :)

    • @justme5694

      Or you could drop the wheel well top piece into the uprights. Since that would not be weight bearing it wouldnt matter!!!

    I was looking at your bench when you had it propped open. Don’t know about you but I love a large desk or an extra surface and the front side of the bench cover looks like it would be nice for extra work space when you need it, ie. Large layout plans for all those rigs you are gonna build. Just a suggestion. I’m loving this build. Would really enjoy something like this for myself.

    That breaker won't stop a surge -- it'll only stop a short circuit or an overcurrent situation where your RV is trying to draw too much power. You need an EMS for active surge protection.

    • @rickharris5485
      @rickharris5485 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And it will only protect downstream of the breaker. That's why you should put the main breaker as close to the source connection as possible. Thanks for pointing that out. I was looking in the comments to see if someone would.

    My chest refer has vents on 3 sides of the front end for the compressor. (It's a 54L) So when I first sight of it, I thought the wheel well jog was for the compressor vent. Nope. 🤔 Wondering now what I should do for mine.
    Looking forward to the finished product!

    Looking great! I just received my Jackery 240. Doing a soft build on my Toyota Sienna for summer travels. You are very knowledgeable, I'm wondering if I bought a lithium battery, can I charge it while I'm driving? I live in Ontario Canada and we don't have guaranteed sunshine and I don't really want to mount panels on my minivan. So I was wondering if there is a way to charge as I drive?

    • @stevejeffrey11
      @stevejeffrey11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could buy an isolator & hook it up to the starting battery so it will charge the house battery only when the engine is on. If the engine battery is lead acid & house is lithium may need a smart charger or battery converter to work together, as different types of battery chemistries don't always work the most efficiently. An AGM sealed battery would be a lot less expensive

    • @sarabeth3016
      @sarabeth3016 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Look into smart isolators, DC to DC battery chargers, and see what's compatible with your vehicle's alternator :)

    Love your videos and watching your build, but you need to understand what a breaker is for. A breaker won't protect you from a surge. A circuit breaker protects you from current, not voltage. Circuit breakers are tripped by an increase in internal load caused by the neutral and hot wires touching, thus changing the resistance and therefore increasing the current. So if a light ballast were to melt, or someone drove a nail through a wire, this would change resistance and therefore increase current thereby tripping the circuit breaker. Circuit breakers protect your wires from overheating and causing a fire. A surge protector protects your electrical system from sudden increases in voltage caused by external influences.

    Is the noise coming from the electrical systems going to be a concern? That RV stuff has a fan so I'm wondering. Plus it's right below where the head would be on the bed so you'd want minimal noises.

    Hi Mike . Realize this isn't the video you did the roof. But what would you recommend for roof sealant. From Canada . So we need a sealant that will take the cold temps of winter. What I have located here are KST , Henry & Sashco . Thank you.

    • @navigationnowhere
      @navigationnowhere  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Henry’s or silicone xps. It gets -40 in the Adk and I have never had an issue. For gaps and screw I use lap sealant. Most important is install in summer (if we get one) when the metal is warm haha

    This kind of videos are a waist of time for me. You are talking a lot about what you are going to do and what you are thinking. It is hard to follow what you are saying. It is much more interesting to see exactly what you are doing, not the tallking about it. You need to film closer up so we can see what you are doing and what components you are using. And showing only when things are finished or you screwing in the last screw is just a waist of time. I was fast forwarding through the whole video. You can do better than this.

    I am gonna warn you on the Solar parts. There are worrisome indications on the financial markets. The inflation rates are shooting right now. Something is happening to the dollar system. The food prices are going to be through the roof in a year. You do your research but you may have to pay much more significant increase in any solar electronics if you wait a long time. You can take it as however you want.
