So with Rachel on the bathroom! One of my ideas is to get an activity bus & have one of the bays be a pull-out bathtub even going to have curtain brackets on the bus to hang the curtain from.
So awesome all the family and friends that help on the build. I know you help a lot of others with their build too but it is super nice and you get to spend time with the family too. Which gets harder and harder the older ya get. Enjoy it!! Y’all have fun!!!
Not me! I’ve loved the entire process. Learned a lot, entertained a lot, bonded with all involved and enjoyed spending time with you Mike. I’m going to be sad when it’s done.
A double cylinder lock (one for which you need the key to open/close on both sides) is safer when there’s glass in your door... because they can just smash it, get a hand in and easily unlock your door with the one you used 🤔😱😞🔐 I can’t WAIT to see Ivan finished!!! Have fun with Big Bear Dale and the fam, you deserve some fun time 😍🙌🏻🔑
Hope you consider making this Journey Series vids longer since there's gonna be a lot going on. I, for one, don't care about fancy editing, keep it raw and just go with it. This is going to be an epic trip, with everyone along. Can't wait!
Have you considered placing a piece of flat steal down the middle where the two doors come together, and weld them shut? Then cut the hinges on one side and make it a single door like a house. I've seen other schoolies like that. Just thought I'd mention that. 👍🏻
I was hoping you were going to have a huge announcement that you were coming to Colorado's Tiny Home Festival next weekend. I convinced myself that must be the reason for their deadlines. Maybe one day...
How fun to learn that both Rachel and Christina is going with you! I hope you bring the rest of us with you to, right? As per usual i really enjoy the video, good job fixing the little things that even so means alot to make things work, such as being able to lock your home away from home! Safe journey guys!
suggestions: add somesorta wireless 4g (3g compatiable) booster antenna on top & its indoor wireless router with lan ports for the road. keep extra 2 keys in a place outside thats not lockable if u get locked outside and everything is inside incuding ur bus driving keys.. some eventful day. paint those brass key fittings (outside) so they key in spots dont get rust when it rains, keep a spray bottle of WD40 with you for the squeeky parts on the road. extra straps with hook so if your vehicle engine motor stops or you end up in some deep ditch off the road you have some one pull you out. ask Rachel to buy you a rug..so you can walk with your barefeet inside and not bring in extra dirt from the outside onto the flooring.. and lastly an electrical battery operated mini vacuum cleaner.
nice way to cut foam : an old electric breadknife the front door lock turned out nice , dont think you even need a doorhandele one thing you still can do is paint the doors on the inside , maibe pain on faux woodgrain to fit in with the rest of the interior
Great lock system…looks like great security, too - may I suggest an extra secret external key - or give extras to both Rachel and Dale etc…cuz - ‘just sayin’ good luck on your trip - sounds like this mini caravan is going to be a blast. Happy Camping everyone!
Awesome video Chris wow what a awesome job on door lock 👍 yes that was great. Good to see you hitting the road safe trip. Dale lol why you filming Mike 😂 lol awesome video 👍👍🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
Rachel have you seen the bathrooms with the toilets that slide into the cupboards, usually a kitchen one if it's next to the bathroom. It makes for a spacious shower area. I have also seen someone who had a wardrobe that slid over the shower pan.
I always really appreciate how you show us your problem solving skills. Sometimes our ideas don’t always have a perfect execution in reality and having the ability to punt and come up with a second option always shines through in your videos. Have fun on your trip with your framily!
If you come through Grand Junction I’d love to take a look at the bus! I’m getting ready to build my own in a month or so and your videos have really shown me what it’s really going to take!
@@navigationnowhere That's great. I originally planned to buy a DC fridge in the 5-6 cu. ft. range. But they were so expensive I decided to get an AC fridge, a fourth 180W panel, and a fourth 100Ah Battleborn. All that cost less than the DC fridge I was looking at.
Congratulations!!!! What a monumental occasion. Your bus looks absolutely amazing. I hope you have a safe and fantastic trip. Can’t wait to follow along on the adventure.
I am so excited for you guys I wish I was joining you you all are going to have a fabulous time and Rachel will be so excited by what she will be seeing love Ivan the little bus and what you are doing and it is looking good!!!!!!!! As always sending love and prayers your way be safe in your travels god bless ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🌈🌈🌈
Also, girls/womans need knee room cuz we spread-um to wipe-it. 😂 just sayin. But it is a very important part of doing a bathroom. You gotta think about these things. Ya’all have a safe trip. Hope to see some trip videos.
Thieves breaking in through a window is always a possibility, even with a keyed inner deadbolt. However, ease of emergency evacuation is always a priority in one’s home and Ivan is more like a mini house than a vehicle. Getting locked out however is a whole ‘ other problem😳🙄
As someone who is in the service, I can't wait to go home and get a skoolie built. I wish my old man was still around to help, but life goes on.
"I wish my old man was still around to help..."
He is, man. He is.
Dale needs to drill holes in the platform bed so no mildew.
I love your sister she is so sunshine 🌞 Navi is my dream bus with 2 changes, bigger bathroom & a king bed in the back. ❤
So with Rachel on the bathroom! One of my ideas is to get an activity bus & have one of the bays be a pull-out bathtub even going to have curtain brackets on the bus to hang the curtain from.
good company, a firefighter, paramedic, and a supervisor, can hardly wait to see all the fun.
Your dad is so talented, guess we know where you get it from Mike
Without your father you would NOT be as far along as you are, GREAT JOB DAD
I still can't get over how much I dig the flipped back door.
So awesome all the family and friends that help on the build. I know you help a lot of others with their build too but it is super nice and you get to spend time with the family too. Which gets harder and harder the older ya get. Enjoy it!! Y’all have fun!!!
i’ve been watching this build for well over a year now and i can’t wait for this thing to be done
Not me! I’ve loved the entire process. Learned a lot, entertained a lot, bonded with all involved and enjoyed spending time with you Mike. I’m going to be sad when it’s done.
I watched the Navi build and now this one.. Looking fwd to the trip
My trip is coming up soon ( in my TT) heading south myself
The infamous shake down trip, have a great time!
It warms my heart that this is such a communal project. Life long memories in the making 🥺💞

Really like how those licks worked out. Dale looks like he is ready to get in the road!

Everyone needs a Rachel. We love her. Who wouldn't.

If I ever go for the school bus route I suspect I'll be following the slacker/camper ready approach
The maiden voyage👏👏👏👏Very exciting! Safe travels, drive carefully and see ya next time👋👋👋👋👋
looks awesome Mike enjoy the adventure! looking forward to the next video
Safe travels!!
Don't forget a gire extinguisher!
I love Dale's sense of humor, "Why are you still filming?" 😂😂
I want a t-shirt with Dale's face on it that says "Why are you still filming?"
Safe travels! Take lots of videos and pictures for us! Have fun!!
You and your family are so awesome God bless and keep you safe on the trip!
Excited to go to Colorado with you guys!
Love it - you guys are doing awesome 👍👍
My grandparents had the pin type lock on their patio door which just fascinated me to no end when I was a child. Thanks for the unexpected nostalgia.
I always really appreciate how you show us your problem solving skills. Sometimes our ideas don’t always have a perfect execution in reality and having the ability to punt and come up with a second option always shines through in your videos. Have fun on your trip with your framily!
Best of luck guys!
Safe travels with your convoy there and back. Such an adventure. Have fun.
It’s so good to see the bus almost finished ❤️❤️❤️l love il !!!! Such a real talent 💪💪💪💪💪
If you come through Grand Junction I’d love to take a look at the bus! I’m getting ready to build my own in a month or so and your videos have really shown me what it’s really going to take!
I don't think we will be making it that far west. Maybe on another trip.
Congratulations!

Awesome enjoy Colorado and happy to follow your journey!!
Looks good so far 👌
Wow this is like your Maiden tourage with Ivan. I'm excited for you. Good luck and have a safe trip.
Have fun!
you inspire me so much.. im on my first bus learning so much
Vantastic!
Looking good!
Dale's fridge looks like an AC version. How big is the Jackery?
It is an ac fridge. I tested the fridge on the jackery 1500. It ran by itself for 38 hours 100% to 0% no charging.

Love Fridays when we get a new video from you! I sure hope you’re taking us along to Colorado with you!
This sounds like such a fun trip. Looking forward to your future videos.
Coffee-Mate doesn't go bad. It lasts forever :o)
It's mostly flavored oil - switch to an actual dairy-based creamer.
I am so excited for you guys I wish I was joining you you all are going to have a fabulous time and Rachel will be so excited by what she will be seeing love Ivan the little bus and what you are doing and it is looking good!!!!!!!! Amen 🙏🏻
Wow! No. 2. Looks great.
Save travels
What about a gray tank
Cabinet above the window in the bathroom
What brand of dry flush toilet did you purchase?
When will the bus be fully complete, all light fixtures, bathroom, etc. ?
Not long after we get back from the trip. Only a few loose ends to finish.
I would prefer a lock that uses keys for both sides. Now if someone breaks the glass window can easily unlock the door without needing any key .....
Thieves breaking in through a window is always a possibility, even with a keyed inner deadbolt. However, ease of emergency evacuation is always a priority in one’s home and Ivan is more like a mini house than a vehicle. Getting locked out however is a whole ‘ other problem😳🙄
Maybe put some metal mesh on windows on doors?
What kinda welding is that ?
Good job buddy congratulation have a great trip and happy Fourth of July
Alright. I got a question I have been meaning to ask. Why didn't you make the door the garbage a pull out drawer door face? Less steps.
how did you remove the mechanism to the alarm on the back door and the windows ??
How fast are them buses and what mpg do you get
