Imogen Clark - Wollongong - March 15 2024

I’ve been wanting to see Imogen Clark live since she released her “Bastards” EP in 2021. But I’d set my sights on her headlining and being with a band, and whenever those gigs did happen, I was always doing something else. Then she announced she was supporting Andrew Farris on his tour which included a show very close to me. Not exactly how I’d wanted to see her but I’d waited long enough. It turned out to be a good choice as there weren’t too many people there (not so good for the performers) and they were exceptionally attentive. It made for a great atmosphere.
Imogen’s voice is quite something, and she really doesn’t need a band backing her. It was a relaxed performance with some lovely introductions to her songs. She included plenty of older numbers as well as several songs from her soon to be released album, “The Art of Getting Through”. I only recorded four songs. I wish now there were a couple more:

It was definitely the right decision to see her. She’s moving to Nashville in a few weeks time. Who knows when she’ll be back my way again.
