I'm Brazilian and i have personally seen jaguars near my property on more than one occasion, they usually avoid you and try to stay as far as possible from people, but there are rare cases of them attacking. I personally love these animals but at the same time i am glad they avoid me as much as i try to avoid them, they usually come closer at night to eat tilapias from my pond. They are terrifyingly good swimmers, to an extent you almost can't believe in person. They can cross 50ft of water in seconds when they are in a rush.
More than a decade ago when i was a teenager i remember seeing on the news that a young woman got attacked and dragged to the woods by a jaguar near a waterfall she and her family were visiting, searches were conducted shortly after and they managed to find the jaguar, feasting on the woman's body on top of a big rock in a riverside.

It didn't seem to bother me unless I twisted my torso in my sleep. I started having other problems in 2019/2020 and had a complete hysterectomy because it had gotten so big. I don't think it was determined if it was a benign dermoid cyst or a resorbed twin, but it was definitely benign. And huge.

They are always walking up to people, pulling up a chair, sitting down and asking "Whatcha doing? Can I help? That looks fun! The reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone was immensely beneficial to the ecosystem, it resulted in healthier and more resilient elk herds and increased biodiversity of both plants and animals in the area. The biggest thing about Leopards is they're one of the smartest and most adaptable of the big cats. They're still doing decently well in Africa where most other cats are having issues with human encroachment. Leopards are master tacticians, and are basically the Ninjas of the Serengeti, they spend most of their lives trying not to be seen by all the gangbangers in Africa. Most every other predator is a gang member, those who aren't, like the Cheetah, arent doing well. With Baboons being the Leopards arch-nemesis, and their tendency to travel in gang packs of 100+ members, Leopards learn from birth to be careful and stealthy.
Leopards make it work, and as their typical prey dries up, they just find new prey. And you weren't kidding about a Leopard in a tree. Lions who climb up and try to get the Leopard out, often dont leave the tree as they find out how much more agile the Leopard is with their tree adaptations.

Being pretty smart, baboons have specific calls they scream out when they see a leopard to warn the entire area. And more than just Baboons know what the call means. So Leopards creep, and try hard not to be seen for most of their lives.
Oh, and Leopards afraid of Lions, sure. Lions are bigger and run in packs. But that's ok, Lions are having a lot of trouble finding food, Leopards aren't. Why fight a lion when you can just wait and they'll starve? Besides, a lion that follows a leopard up a tree is going to have a bad day.

To this day it hasn't been found. Maybe the animal drowned like someone said lol good point, but it could just be an animal that was living near rivers to drink, like deer aren't really considered swimmers but maybe they can, but they still live near rivers. Moose swim frequently and actually get preyed upon by sharks in certain parts of the world. To be fair they are biologically compatable (please spell it for me because auto correct wont work for once) so they can breed naturally
The problem is if we made dogs and cats breed together as their common ancestor is to far removed from todays animals

Jaguars 🐆 are the pinnacle of the big cat as far as evolution goes. Unless I missed it, you forgot or were unaware of the biggest factor that separates Jaguars from all other big cats, their specialized vision. They basically have X-ray vision through the canopy.

Those were two animals who grew up together and the sanctuary couldn't separate them as every time they tried, the cats got depressed and the female even refused to eat. And they didn't have enough money for neutering.

I am in the field of anthropolgoy with a specific focus on Mesoamerican cultures. Jaguars were so paramount to ancient indigenous cultures of Latin America because they were so terrifying. Some groups of warriors were named after them and part of the culture was to hunt one and wear its pelt once you became a recognized warrior. Reasons for this were that hopefully seeing the skin would either cause other jaguars to fear you but in reality it was about blending in with them in a way. There were also warriors that mocked its style of quick and deathly fighting.

Ikr. Leopards were higher and then Jaguar was S tier because of it’s overall versatility while being good at swimming, climbing and all. They have less trouble hunting and staying alive. The whole point of TierZoo is rating animals that win. Surviving is winning
