It is their body and money. They can do whatever they want. I could care less about rich people ruining their face with surgery as what happened to Madonna. It is their ego who made that happen to them. Sometimes they do look better like Aespa members look way better after their surgeries.

Also there are people who do changed to their body to fit different aesthetics, some of the looks does not fit beauty standards. Plastic surgery is not just about fitting in, but more about expressing yourself. Just look at Versace lady, she has done lot of surgery. However her looks is often called scary by most, but she thinks she is pretty. So people doing plastic surgery is to express themselves.

Idols must look nothing less than gorgeous when they debut so they have to go under surgeries when they're trainees. If the beauty standard weren't that high, idols could look natural without worrying about how people will react to them. You honestly sound like a kid to me, not understanding how terrible and sad beauty surgeries are.

To me the whole obsession with plastic surgery is just sad.... What about appreciating our differences and unique features? What about natural beauty? Our perception of what actually is beautiful about a person is changing more and more due to the normalization of beauty procedures and surgeries!

Everyone is not beautiful, so people get surgery to become beautiful. No matter how much you brainwashed yourself into thinking everyone is beautiful, won’t work. Some people will always be more beautiful.
I think that people should be accepting of others making their own decisions about cosmetic surgery. As long as it was their own choice and they were adults, it's fine. However, I do see an issue when celebrities are selling haircare, skincare, and makeup products while claiming to be all natural. At best, those celebrities are swindlers.

I don't think this will ever change. beauty standards are insane and people will always find something new to be insecure about. as an idol, their job is basically to be perfect (and/or to live up to the often extreme expectations the industry and the fans have for them) and I cannot imagine the pressure they are under.

@@TrinhNguyen-sh4fj Korean society has such a high standards especially in the entertainment industry that their management pressure them to fit a certain look because if you know you'll be criticized for a "flaw" by netizens. Even younger people get it as birthday gifts. There are also several celebrities that say they didn't make changes but you can tell from their younger photos compared to now that they did. Lee dong wok is a great example. If you ever get a chance to live in SK, you'll notice that people are obsessed with appearance. It's strange to me but that's one of their toxic traits.

99% of them have had ps. Like literally even if they begin with a naturally beautiful face, they’d still get it to make their features more sharp. Sometimes it’s bcuz they feel insecure, sometimes it’s because their company forces them to. Kpop is SO competitive and ppl need to realize the artist we know is probably the top 5% of idols in the industry. So for them it’s really not a big deal given the culture. For them, it’s a small risk to take that will contribute to a chance for success.
Not sure if it is that high, but it is high. Some have just some while others changed their entire face. They look nothing like their old selves.

I’m a half Turkish/german living in Germany and I can say that germany is more obsessed about your style than your visuals.
Turkey had a very long on-going plastic surgery trend around 2015-2019 but it drastically declined after several reports about surgical failures and how naturally beautiful actresses and singers ruined their faces over those years.
Pretty sure there are several other country’s with the same outcome towards this topic.

- South Korea‘s type of judgement and shitstorm towards celebs is VERY similar in turkey. Hence, why the whole plastic surgery thing even started in the first place. Public opinion is valued very highly and nowadays it kind of calmed down thanks to „westernization“
- majority of men and women with Plastic surgery done turkey are by rich Russians, which was also another reason why many people started to hate it and turn their backs towards it.
- Germany from my point of view as of now, is the least problematic towards topics like Cyber-bullying, Body-shaming etc. though the youth starts to slowly show its own problems.
Then that world will have no South Korea and Kpop! 🤣 The whole Kpop industry and even the whole country is obsessed with plastic surgeries and following the same beauty standards.

This is a subjective opinion but it's getting frightening at this point. I know they are singers and dancers, and they ought to have good looks because in a showbiz business, that is what sells. But the social and cultural implications of it are so harsh. I mean, the SK people expect idols to let go of their ethnical features or the ones they are born with, and adapt to a completely new face that is so unnatural and unrealistically perfect. I can't imagine the manipulation and brainwashing that goes behind it. Hear me out, I have nothing against plastic surgeries, and people can do whatever they want with themselves. But creating a society that is governed by lookism privileges where an average looking man or woman (based on the beauty standards of SK) feels isolated or left out to an extent that plastic surgery becomes the only resort to secure a job, have a love life, or just have friends around. As I said, it's frightening.

No matter how many times you “fix” the outside, if you don’t work on what’s on the inside you will always be unhappy. At the end of the day, what makes a lasting impact on others is always what’s on the inside 🫶🏽

The whole "exploring a person on the inside" or even the desire to form deeper connections is long gone. I seriously hope this could change a bit.

Teens getting surgery is so messed up. It probably leads to a lifetime of insecurities. My bias who (I shouldnt name) allegedly got a nose job at 15 and debuted that same year. His insanely beautiful but litteraly every year it seems like he’s getting more and more work done mind you he’s not even 25. It’s not a good exemple for kids. I’m 26 now and got into K-pop when I was 13; then I started to feel insecured about my looks too because how vocal the industry was about some unrealistic beauty standards.
Also these k beauty standards are litteraly the opposite of what an East Asian would look like naturally and that’s chocking.

Not really as some of my Chinese friends have naturally high noses and big eyes too. They are natural too. A lot of the Chinese kpop idols are natural and had no plastic surgery. They are attractive as is.

Anyways, it is sad when people think plastic surgery is a must and hate their natural looks to the point that they do everything to change their physical appearance. They have to remember that they can change their appearance but they can’t change their DNA. I am not against some minor enhancements as long as you are honest about it. But why have the courage to go under the knife and then lie about it. There are risks too as some have died on the surgery table. Shouldn’t your life and health be more important than physical appearances that are artificial and need to be maintained if you don’t want your face to get deformed over time?

I do agree with you, but the sad part is, there are people that judge these idols on their looks. S. Korea is known as the hub center for plastic surgery, and with beauty standards being that high in that country, majority of the idols have no choice but to conform to those standards if they want to attract fans
Nothing against a little nip and tuck to boost your confidence, however, I’ve seen recent pictures of Jessi where you can obviously tell her lip fillers have migrated. She should just own it. I’ve never heard of anyone’s lips getting that huge after they stopped lip fillers.

Even if he may had done some small procedures that do not drastically change his face or features, it wouldn't be okay for people like you to simply claim that it's obvious. Of course there isn't a reason to shame someone for having plastic surgery, but the things this video claims as such are dumb. His jawline is pretty much the same, and as another person mentioned he had gone through a lot of dieting because of people hating and bodyshaming him since the first photo which is from 2019. The jawline specifically gets easily affected by the weight of the person and in 2019 yj still had some apparent baby fat + let's not forget that there are things such as mewing and jaw exercises that can achieve similar results to the plastic surgery that both you and the video creator so proudly and rudely claim.

What's sad to me is we're talking about children barely in their teens. Their faces and bodies are still developing when they have these surgeries. The human body isn't fully mature till our early 20s. A lot of those round faces were from baby fat.
Korea sees cosmetic surgery on the same level as bronzer. A lot of this is cultural. But the age at which it's treated so casually makes it hard to shrug off.
I wonder if in the future, what will be the side effects and aftermath of all these plastic surgery madness in South Korea? After all putting foreign objects and injecting chemicals in your face is gonna mess up your facial muscles in the long term, and what about the maintenance? South Koreans cannot stop having plastic surgeries, else their faces will "collapse" decades later

I wish Jessi would be honest about getting her butt done. She’s been honest about every surgery except for that one. I saw a clip of her telling hosts that she just worked out a lot and did leg exercises to get it, which was obviously a lie lol idk if it’s because that’s another surgery she regrets and doesn’t wanna talk about it or what, but to go on tv and lie about it is wild.

One thing that always creeps me about my favourite idols ( almost all idols I saw) is how fair their complexion is... I don't know what goes into this process, I think it's a temporary look but it's just sooo creepy seeing a human so pale, but again we cannot complain too much since most fans domestically (maybe internationally too?) expect these people to look so unrealistic, like fricking cartoon characters, I hate this about k-pop and with more minors in girl groups... yikes....
I think, the most frightening part about all of this, it's when you compare with how dark skinned they looked before they debuted, and the first years after their debut. And you can see, after a few years, they start getting lighter and lighter and lighter. And that cannot happen only by avoiding sun. Like, there must be some whitening cream or laser involved. And that is very very sad, because those are cancerous, and those products and procedures are doing a LOT of bad around the world, especially in India and Africa.... Thank you for noticing this.
Lisa comes to mind when I think of this, though so many other kpop idols have been getting so much lighter than the average person does over time. I think they do play around with skin tones when they're in front of the camera though as I remember seeing BTS twice and they were SO much more tan than they were in videos.

If undergoing PS makes you look beautiful, confident and happy then that’s definitely not a bad thing. If I had the money I would have done it too. But the way these celebs lie about having surgery and makes it seem natural , that’s what makes me upset.

I don’t have a problem with idols choosing to have plastic surgery. Key word here is choose. Idols shouldn’t be forced by their agencies. It’s a big commitment and some of these procedures are extremely painful. Also, 15 is too young! Wait until you’re an adult at least.

I don't care about plastic surgery that much. However, the consequence of plastic sugery is that when you reach the age of elderly life, the muscles relax a lot because of the plastic inserted in the facial features making you look very saggy and baggy when looking older.
