On my first race instantly noticed: I started one or two compound softer tyres and easily overtaken others. Drop offs easily noticable This is the first game where I can feel the differences between compounds
Makes it boring because it allows only 1 strategy. F1 2021 was great with 2 strategies possible in 50% : the S-M-M or M-H strategies. Now it's poor strategy, undercut seems fun but it's boring.
Honestly i dont want to know how many hours exactly u put into this. I don't even play the game(s) anymore these days but your videos and Ben's are still first class, 10, 11 years later. Chapeau for that. Pretty sure i'm here since way below 1000 Subs lol, time flies :(
that lap 6 thing with the softs is interesting, and i'm wondering if they're trying to replicate when drivers go passed that ''graining phase'' and have a second wind of grip almost
it's of course to allow for different strategies but it very interesting to see how they did it. I would have never expected to see old softs to regain a grip advantage
One small visual aspect from this year to last with tires, is going off line you can visually see bits of rubber being picked up and stuck onto the tire until you get back on line and or brake/ turn in. I could be wrong and was in last years game. But I really noticed a hell of a large difference from last years game that makes it wayy more exciting and competitive being able to finally catch rear end swuirms mid corner in 4-5th gears and not just spinning out no matter what you do
Hey Alex, really interesting video in my first my team race at Bahrain. I had a really interesting race regarding the tyres. I had an early soin on lap 4 broke the front wing, so I pited for a set of hards for the rest of the race. The first 5 laps the tyres were really good then for the next five laps felt like i didn't have much grip like they went throuhh a graining phase because after that phase for like another 5 laps I found grip again and my times improved until eventually they were too worn with a few laps remaining.
Yeah. I’d also like to know more about how these new tyres affect 50% race distance. Strategy is my biggest weakness on the game and I’d like as much insight into this as possible 🙏
Still have it on trial on EA Play and I have to say, the way the tyres now affect strategy is really good! You can qualitfy in 9th and still get a podium with carefful driving and good strat with the hards, like Albon. It's great, but let's see if Codies can finally keep it up and leave the game alone when the community are happy with the physics and the tyres for once, unlike 20-22.
What is the telemetry overlay that you are using on ur gameplay footage? The one with the throttle, brake graph as well as the steering input, gear and live speed reading? Is it Simhub and which dashboard is that if I may ask? Thanks!
I've spent 21 hours on F1 23 so far. Now for some reason my G920 isn't working properly. I was starting a new career at Bahrain and the start of the lap was fine, but halfway through the lap my wheel decided it wanted massive understeer. SO instead of the normal 360 wheel lock I use, it was using the full 900
I remember when in Canada it was ungodly to absue the inters on dry conditions while the ai pitted and I found myself setting identical laptimes to their slick laps and slightly increasing the gap to a pitstop and a half. (bear in mind I was only 3-4 seconds ahead before they pitted) It was just disgustingly OP and I'm really happy that they sort of nerfed the inters.
Great breakdown, thanks. I'm new to the F1 series and was stunned at the loss of tire grip in just a couple of laps. Looks like I got a lot more to think about than I planned on.
I have a bad habit of going pretty far left on entry to t15 at Australia and the absolute minute amount of grass I do get there, sends me into the gravel on exit every time 😂😅 just got into doing it over the last couple years and it’s been my biggest downfall on that track along with having terrible throttle control exiting the final 2 turns.
Have you looked at 35% races? There seems some thing very strange with the tire wear. I did 10 laps at Qatar on softs then switched to mediums and they only lasted till lap 18 before the cliff
Jarno did demonstration of everything you said last night in PSGL Race, went last on mediums and showed how much more grip u have compared of rest of the grid !
Interesting, I was operating under the assumption that tire usage was” prorated” per percentage of laps. So, if a tire lasts 10 laps at 100% then they will last 5 laps at 50%.
I found out that even if you have a fresh set of the compound you're starting the race on, you still have to start on a used set, I tried to change it, but the game doesn't allow me to start on a fresh set even tho I do have. which is annoying, cuz every race I have to pit like 3 or 4 laps earlier, just because my tyres are already worn like 10% at the start
As a new creator I try to see others niche, this is what you should do more of! This is really good content and I like to see the whole videos (watch time). See you on Twitch! 👍
They really do, i end up falling off the pace compared to the AI in about 3-4 laps, tyre degradation in this game is very high, too bad it doesn't seem to affect the AI too much
You may be a more aggressive driver than you realise, i’ve already changed how i break in this game that i could never figure out in previous games. Apologies if you’re just shit hot at driving and i’m just wrong
Have yet to get the full game but in the beta the difference between a worn soft and a new medium was nuts in term but also at the start of the stint and near the end of it
im still here, buddy, admittedly im not watching every video of yours, but i take a look from time to time and obviously i'm subscribed since quite a while ago (is there a way to see that?) lol, keep up the great informative content, man, cheers
Hey Alex, You say that you shouldn't have to use the hards unless its an 100% race. Does this mean that every PSGL driver was wrong during the pre season race? Because everyone except Jarno Opmeer went Hard Medium and Jarno went Medium Hard
Just came from the first PSGL league race. 90% off the grid was running hard/medium or medium/hard. So do quicker laptimes actually run the tyres quicker down like in real life? In real F1 top teams could run 1.16… laptimes in the Barcelona race (fastest lap from Max, Lewis, Sergio) but for overall racepace target laptime was around 1.19…
if the cumulative grip on softs is highest until lap 15, and the cumulative grip on mediums is highest from lap ~15 to ~22, doesn't that mean that a SM or MS strat (pitting on roughly lap 13 starting on softs and pitting on roughly lap 20 on mediums) is the fastest? btw I am going to leave this here so you can see it: It is really interesting how different tyres are in f1 23, and I can see how it would make the game more exciting with all the possible undercuts and overall the tyres dropping off faster. I never realized how deep the rabbit hole can get with the tyre wear changes, and I'm sure you had to really put a lot of time into making these charts and the video as a whole. why does it put a red line under "tyre"?????? makes no sense
ai has pretty much same laptime, no mattter if they're on new softs or used hard. disgusting. at level 62 i qualy p1 or p2 and finish the race p17or p18 because i have to make 1 extra stop !!!! i never saw a game AI as badly coded as this one.
Tyre saving should play a bigger part of races, not just flat out start to finish. If you drive at 80% until you need to push then in theory that should be the best way to go about things this year.
Don't mean to be rude, but if you drove at 80% you would lose 24 seconds per lap in a 120 second lap. Maybe you mean 98 or 99%? Meaning you would lose 1.2-2.4 seconds per lap.
Watching these kinds of video is just making me feel bad because I feel like I'm missing out on quiet a lot in this years game since I can't buy the game🥲 Awesome analysis Alex. Loved it. Very informative.
Never thought I'd be at a point in my life where I genuinely want to watch a 12 min video on video game tires, lmao!

Why are my front tires burning faster then my rear tires?

What’s the optimal strategy for 50% or less when you use all your soft tires in qualifying.

Just came from the first PSGL league race. 90% off the grid was running hard/medium or medium/hard.

if the cumulative grip on softs is highest until lap 15, and the cumulative grip on mediums is highest from lap ~15 to ~22, doesn't that mean that a SM or MS strat (pitting on roughly lap 13 starting on softs and pitting on roughly lap 20 on mediums) is the fastest?

Dry tyre wear is a bit janky on 2023 according to your graph with the softs best till lap 6 then it is worst and then by lap 9 it is best again lol.
Would prefer moistness over wetness
Those 23 charts look like they are incorrect. Those 22 tire curves looked way more logical
Yeah the charts look more realistic on F1 22 but somehow F1 23 is more realistic in game.
