    That whammy bar technique is really cool. It has a bit of an 80s shred-master feel to it. LaRocque also uses the technique, although much more subtle, in his solo for the Death song Trapped in a Corner.

      John Petrucci used that whammy bar vibrato a lot during his Ibanez early years in solos like Under a Glass Moon in a really cool way.

    I love how he says “the King Diamond fans that we were” and then talks about how he never heard that sound with the whammy bar before, which is all over King Diamond albums prior to the Cold solo.
    Yes, I’m calling you out!

    • @LordNothing
      @LordNothing 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Just to clarify: by 0:12, Fredrik Nordstrom (the producer) explained that he wasn't aware that he was that famous (implying that he is not a king diamond fan). He asked him to play because the guys on At The Gates are fans of his playing... and that is what Tomas Lindberg said on minute 1:40.
      PD:
      Eventhough Tomas said that Anders Björler can play the solo now, the reality is that he TRY to replicate it, but way slower and simpler.

    If anything, I think he get's better and better with each passing year, it's kinda crazy. Remember how his solo's sounded in the 80's compared to his solos in the 90's and 00's? He was insanely good then, and now his solos just sound flat out immortal.

    Its commonly called a flutter, but Ive seen several guitarist do it. This happens to be a particularly good one though. Most the time the flutter isnt that wide so you can tell hes really whacking the hell out of it and may have only two springs in his tremolo system.

  • @Xcorgi
    @Xcorgi 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Actually that's a trademark Steve Vai tremelo trick. Just pull it back and lt it snap in a bouncing way multiple times like a rubber band. It can pretty much only be done on a Floyd Rose trem. Most others don't seem to have the proper bounce to them.
