Obviously his lawyer said "Tell them you don't know anything" Chad either needs to be financially responsible or jail time Why Because you were the PR, It was YOUR responsibility to distribute the settlement
I work in the insurance industry and I am required to take ethics and financial transactions training annually because we handle private information and clients money. Every single company that I’ve taken class through covers at least half of the subjects mentioned in this deposition. Im not saying I would have enough knowledge to be a PR but anyone that has received any training (even entry level) in finance, FDIC, ethics, etc. should know IF YOU ARE HANDLING FINANCIAL INFORMATION YOU COVER YOUR OWN ASS & the company in which you are employed. It’s very clear that the legal ramifications can be fierce not to mention the employment issues. There are also laws in most (if not EVERY) state that protect the elderly and vulnerable adults from financial exploitation. South Carolina has this law. I Googled and found it in less than two minutes. My point is although as small part of me feels bad that this guy was duped by what he thought were friends, he HAD to know he was not doing what he legally agreed to do. I’m pretty sure their are federal laws that protect the elderly and/or vulnerable too.
I've been checking out South Carolina's Education to be a Lawyer. In SOUTH CAROLINA, Lawyers HAVE TO TAKE A "TEST" every THREE YEARS [ethics and something else] in Order to KEEP YOUR LAWYERS LICENSE. You flunk it, you loose your law license! ! ! ! ! ! Flunk it THREE TIMES, you are REQUIRED to go back to SCHOOL and take THOSE COURSES! ! ! Also in South Carolina and most States a Law Firm SHOULD BE AUDITED EVERY THREE YEARS so a "M E S S" like this didn't happen. Everyone in the Law Firm can LOOSE their Law License :(
I'm my mother's PR and I was sole heir in her uncontested will. During probate a rogue judge gave all her estate funds to disinherited-by-name offspring who had joint tenancy'd her account. Her will and her wishes were disrespected and dishonored. All I got was a kick in the arse and a bunch of lawyer fees. It's good for a bright light to shine on legal shenanigans.

@@joerudnik9290 Thanks. Yes, I filed a formal reconsideration and took back what the judge improperly gave away after he ignored rule of law. I also left public google review for all involved. One lawyer is still sending me a bill for $8K but I just return it to sender, unopened. It's been over two years now since probate closed. That's a bill that will never, ever be paid. That lawyer is a liar and a loser and I made sure the State Bar knew what went on too. They cared less. Opposing counsel is no longer a partner in his own firm after I got done with him. Take care, and thanks.
Just saying, if she had made someone a joint tenant on bank deposit funds, then legally all those funds do indeed belong to the other person when one dies. Judge can’t change that law.
Wow I can see how the boat crash definitely exposed a lot on Murdaugh case and why Alec got rid of Paul. Poor Paul. Alec always calling him the little detective. This family’s generational shame being exposed everywhere. Yikes.
I’m pretty sure that Chad‘s wife balances their checking account, because this guy has no qualifications for being in a bank. (Message for Chad‘s wife--“RUN GIRL RUN”)😮
I don't want to be cruel, but if this guy is a 'banker' then I'm a brain surgeon. Sure he may not know the law, but he doesn't even know how to endorse a check??? At least I do understand why Alex used this dummy as his pigeon.
Chads Dad owns the bank . That’s how Chad got his position. But if you were Alex why would you choose the bank owners son to pull off a crime such as this . Wouldn’t you go for someone that has a lower position at the bank . This doesn’t make sense you would have to feel the guy out first and find out if he was shady enough to go along with it and if if he doesn’t he would tell his dad about the crime you were trying to get him to commit . Something’s off here .
Chad is a cad, you learn law in accountancy and he knew there was responsibility that come with being a PR but choose to play ignorant. The money was just to easy. The tentacles in the case are far and wide.

Fascinating! Thank you for giving us this. How interesting. Wondering how an average person can have "checks and balances" against this happening to them? Wrongful Death, Personal Representatives for dummies? Where is the court and Judge Mullen asking questions? Thanks again Fits News! ~From Ohio
Where is the court? EXACTLY! This is just the tip of an incredibly corrupt system that included judges!! (I’m an attorney and have never heard of a court allowing documents to be filed but not made public without an order to that effect, or allowing a defendant to change the case name to hide facts.). This was not the only time they pulled this kind of scam. But for the boat accident, they’d still be doing it.
An ordinary person has no access to checks and balances in the probate court unless he reads a few hundred pages or hires an honest attorney. I read the pages and I also hired a highly recommended attorney who was not at all honest. In the case I was involved in, collusion was as plain as day-collusion between the opposing attorney, my attorney, and the Guardian ad Litem. The Guardian had been appointed at a hearing that I had not even been notified about. I would not even have known that the rules required my being notified if I hadn’t read the rules.
I work as a banker way down below his level and *I* know all of this. Seems I work for the wrong bank at the wrong level. Then again maybe not. I like working for an honest bank with fiduciary responsibility and lots of checks and balances.
That’s the question what is his level of banking integrity apart from being 100 % complicit in the fraud and president of the nobody heard league this dude is nothing more than a Buffon on the stand .
Can someone please answer just one question for me, just one... How on God's green earth did they think they were going to get away with this multiple times? How??? That judge Mullen is good as toast. I hope she has the best defense attorney she can afford. The national spotlight is in her face.
Mr. Westendorf looks so comfortable in his role of scammer. It could be because the attorney isn’t raking him over the coils but having a gentleman’s conversation about a crime.
He looks like he’s about to breakdown in tears several times. I think he is embarrassed, and also realizing how complicit he was in such a horrific crime. I’m so glad those boys are finally getting their settlement.
He looked so defeated at times realizing that people he maybe thought were either friends or good standing aquaintances were duping him. Alex destroyed so many people and cost their own family's money without a care. This is why he would also be able to murder his own son and his wife.
Looked more like a guy kicking himself for getting involved in such a obvious scheme. He thought this was going to be easy money to look the other way.
Is Chad in jail??? he should be....I am disgusted by he and the others who stole from two young men, who desperately needed the funds. My heaven how can these people look at themselves in the mirror?!

Chad either needs to be financially responsible or jail time
Why Because you were the PR, It was YOUR responsibility to distribute the settlement
He paid back the 30,000.00 he was paid at least.
He probably help laundry this poor lady's family settlement..
Seems like they make their own rules in Hampton County, and all seems is on the payroll.
Everyone in the Law Firm can LOOSE their Law License :(
Wow! Gross negligence in the law firm and the bank. These people were ignorant of the ethics and the laws.
There sure are laws to protect elderly & compromised individuals
Got your dots and peas and qs. Together?? Annual ethics class, not AM knew that exist! If did! he somewhere getting high..
Thank you for providing this in it's entirety. I was very curious after hearing snippets on the podcast this week.
It's good for a bright light to shine on legal shenanigans.
i am sorry that happened to you, that is really frustrating.
@@samanthacampos5905 Thank you for your nice comment. I just love FitsNews with Mandy & Company for exposing the evil. I feel so sad for all the victims she reports on that haven't received justice or have closure yet. I'm sorry that's happening to them. I have deep empathy. Take care. C.
Did you take it to a higher authority? You can appeal.
Yikes.
Interesting
I’m pretty sure that Chad‘s wife balances their checking account, because this guy has no qualifications for being in a bank. (Message for Chad‘s wife--“RUN GIRL RUN”)😮
I don't want to be cruel, but if this guy is a 'banker' then I'm a brain surgeon. Sure he may not know the law, but he doesn't even know how to endorse a check??? At least I do understand why Alex used this dummy as his pigeon.
This guy is a banker and a big fat liar. He knows exactly what he did and is playing dumb in my opinion. It is absolutely cringeworthy to watch.
@ Cher Extremely cringeworthy! Hope he lost his job & got jail time along with Cory Fleming.
This man is not qualified to run a lemonade stand let alone a bank.
Chad is a cad, you learn law in accountancy and he knew there was responsibility that come with being a PR but choose to play ignorant. The money was just to easy. The tentacles in the case are far and wide.
Fitnews is the best.
Thanks Angela.
Agree!
Chad was chosen as P R because he is clueless!!
He’s not clueless. Just playing at it. I don’t buy this at all.
Not clueless at all. Chad wanted to be with the "big dogs". Good old boys. Ugh..
Amen to that. Alex took one look at him and found a gold mine.
@@cathyruddell-orendach4297 You can't be that naive. 😁 This little rat wanted to be on their team so bad , be seen with them, show off. Old boys flashing in town. The late "bloomer" got some attention. He's not stupid. Conniving pricks like rest of them.
This is terrifying on many levels…thank goodness for Bubba the dog…Alec is a sociopath and a dangerous one by all accounts..no pun intended …being a friend of Alec comes with risks
Alex is a psychopath and fits profile of a family annihilator
Just started listening to the podcast. Keep up the great work and investigative journalism.
Intimidation. Powerful people and everyone was afraid of retaliation. This family could do whatever they wanted.
A banker 100% knows what fiduciary means. Zero credability
@catherine4959 sounds like they won their settlements on name recognition instead of actual lawyering.
If not for the boating accident they probably would have gotten away with it for many more years.
That judge Mullen seems corrupt imo. 😬🫢
Mr. Westendorf looks so comfortable in his role of scammer. It could be because the attorney isn’t raking him over the coils but having a gentleman’s conversation about a crime.
Why does it seem a lawyer knows more about banking than a bank executive?
They do. Is part of being an attorney. Also banking is part of just being alive/having a job/paying bills.
Go Eric Bland!!!!!!!!!👍👍👍
All these fools need to do time. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Chad studied Finance under the direction of George Santos
OMG. Starting at 2:05:52. Corey needs to be not merely disbarred but IN JAIL.
Cory Fleming was indicted on 18 counts in 3/2022, and was disbarred in 10/2021. He is out on bond awaiting trial.
How can Chad sit there for all that time while Bland so very gracefully made him out a total idiot, without cringing in embarrassment?
Um- no shame? No conscience, just thinking of his own a**. What a bunch.
I dunno…I feel like he looks embarrassed.
@@cher3093 he looks caught
better to be an embarrassment than culpable he must think
He can't be as clueless as he seems. This is ridiculous. He is/was an exec of what bank??? Withdraw your money right away!!
Don't Bank in South Carolina. Don't hire lawyers (contingency or not) in South Carolina.
Palmetto Bank
Chad isn't running my lemonade stand.
“Do you owe an apology to my clients?” “I’m sorry this happened to them.” NOT “I’m sorry I abandoned my duties to you and thus made this happen to you. “. What an absolute POS.
🎯
University of South Carolina graduated this guy with a Business Degree and he is a bank VP but he had no clue what a fiduciary means? I call bull 💩
The Wife talks about her two favorite classes in a Business School she attended for a year: Law and Psychology. Now, she's picked up some knowledge in the 60 years since then but she remembers definitions and associates news stories with them. She's catching flies right now - gotta close her mouth. University, eh?
“Haha I’m not a big honcho!”
“Well, before you became Executive Vice President…”
Is Chad Westonforf actually stupid and irresponsible or does he play one on TV?
Wow. This guy should be an embarrassment to both the bank and the University of South Carolina. Absolutely clueless.
WoW, I learned so much from this video. A lot of great information. Great video
I love the prosecutor's questioning. More like a school principal! This guy such a liar. I think 'his Daddy' got him his job...
Wow. Just wow. How it all unfolds is quite fascinating.
✨Don’t ✨take a shot everytime Chad says “I don’t know” otherwise you’ll end up where the other victims of the Murdaughs are…sheesh
This guy's lawyer told him to play stupid...and he is😅
I wouldnt trust this guy or his bank with my child's piggy bank. And the worst part is that he is still employed by that bank. Shocked he was released and they are simply holding the bank accountable. He appears way too "uninformed" for a VP. I think he is also complicit and lying.
I just checked that myself. I see you already knew that. On the bank Facebook page two years ago I guess he got some award from the bank
@@deadmanswife3625 Appalling and also heard later on the that deposituon that he is the Presudent if some local banking group.

No way. He is playing stupid. He knew what was going.
Ended up here from Mandy’s excellent podcast…I’m about 1/2 way through this and I’m fairly sure that if Eric asked Chad what his name, address and phone number were he’d say “I dunno…”. This isn’t just “weaponized incompetence” this is “nuclear weaponized incompetence”! I mean there’s playing dumb and then there’s Chad, who appears to be the only professionally certified dumb I’ve ever witnessed!

He's just playing STUPID,hoping he doesn't get tangled up and go to prison for ripping off those poor boys of Gloria!! What A Liar!
The Forensic Accountant surely earned his/her/their payments in this case!!!
OK. How about the "Satterfield Act/Law/Satute which creates an easy to follow legal guide to being a Personal Representative? Created by some of the great people of South Carolina?
I don’t believe that a lack of laws is the problem. The duties are well-defined. Everyone in this case ignored them. Including the judge. What is needed is to hold these people responsible under the existing law!
I wonder if this man has figured out that he was the patsy?😳
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We’re these people not told that ignorance is not an excuse to break the law?
This is horrible they all need to go to jail
This is a man who has been well-informed how to answer questions by lawyers how to be a dope, so his kickbacks looked innocent. What a joke. Is he in the Dixie Mafia or something? Because this is exactly how a mafia memeber answers questions. Put that dummy in jail for embezzlement.
This is such a cringeworthy performance. My second-hand embarrassment as this guy explains what a contingency fee to the bank’s vp… Omg! Just an absolute laughable disgrace!
This guy literally redefines an empty suit
07:01 I CAN TOTALLY RELATE! 😂😂😂 how I feel about my job to , just basically doing what your told lol
Well Alex and Cory were very clever in getting this guy to be PR in the bank…. He was the ‘yes’ man to everything with no ethical responsibility that suited the swindlers
This guy was picked by Alex and Corey to be PR because of his ignorance. This is a part of the privilege, certain people are given without the knowledge or requirements of the task. He is well below the job title of banker. He didn't know anything, a total embarrassment. 😢
He has a BS in Business Administration. He doesn't know anything though it's interesting that that's the kind of people who get jobs like this people they can just get to go along with anything
@@deadmanswife3625 I totally agree. I looked him up and he's still the vice president of the bank. He had to pay back the $30000 fee and he gave up Alex murdaugh and Russell Laffitte. Laffitte was the CEO of the bank and brother in law of Jeanne Seckinger who was the woman in charge of the finances where Alex worked. She suspected Alex of stealing and confronted him.
Gloria is in Heaven laughing like Crazy.. she is really tickled about the outcome of this major Fraud and Theft Case and is very happy her boys have been taken care of.😇
Amen to that.
Imagine that! He received $30, 000 and the Satterfield boys got NOTHING!
Wow....for someone who knew nothing he sure as hell didn't try to find out...he was just looking for a check
So now that it’s known a Grand Jury had been investigating Alec Murdaugh’s finances is this knowledge what prompted Palmetto’s CEO to cease being a PR on some of Alec’s cases and handing the task off to Westendorf, an employee of the bank?
This guy is sadly one of those Americans and boys who does what he sold and doesn’t ask questions lives life being directed. Such a sad situation, and so said there are so many people like this.
The whole thing, all of it, was part of "the Good Ole Boy's System"....nobody, (Chad) would dare buck the big shots of the county
