    He had more impact in half a season as a Vancouver Canuck than the "greatest leader" Messier had in all his seasons with the Canucks. Thanks for highlighting his time with Vancouver as it was short but very impactful for that team as you said.

    Had sundin not retired and come back the next season, I believe the Canucks would have won the cup. No chance was he gonna let that series go to 7

    a fun fact. Mats was out for the season. the first game in Carolina he magically was listed to start! Its also when the Corson thing with Mogilnys wife. It had a lot to do with the leafs losing that series. Don Cherry went on a rant saying it was May 24 long weekend and everyone should drive down to Raleigh and watch a leaf play off game for the price of a jays ticket. Lots of people did, it turned into a real shit show. The local radio station went on the air the morning of the game and started telling everyone they were invaded the night before by a bunch of wild canucks. Lots of Canadians were booked at the same hotel as the leafs and the CBC. They sent I shit you not Don Cherry down to the lobby he walked everyone out side and told them to look up at a particular group of windows. They had signs up thanking everyone for comin but asked that they quite down and not get into trouble. About a minute after Cherry went back to the elevator some toolbox from Ontario stole a pizza delivery guys car a started doing laps with a leafs flag out the window. While at the same time theses other half whit's took down the state flag in the middle of this court yard which the driveway circled. They then hoisted up a giant leafs flag to about half staff until other people mostly Canadians myself included put a stop to that shit. ....... So we are at breakfast the next morning witch is now game day, and doesn't Don Cherry come over to our table and start in a my buddy Jason. It wasn't in a bad way in fact it worked out really well for us. We ended up being in the opening credits of hockey night in Canada. They told us where to meet the production crew near the players entrance. That's how we Found out Sundin was playing. It was kind of whack Tom Borrasso the leafs back up came in with Ron Francis we were told jokingly we didn't see that. We even got Ken Dryden to play goalie for maybe 10 mins on our road hockey team in the parking lot. Gary Roberts family had an RV, we got to hang out with them for a bit. If you read this much send me a message I have a few cool pics with the boys. We lost that game. It was rough the Caines were beating us the whole game, Mogilny tied it up with a few mins left it went to OT I think. The leaf fans were kinda cocky tbh I wasn't down with that! PS my buddy Jay is 6' 5'' 260Lbs and he has a habit of painting his face.

      Wow what an experience that must've been! TBH I thought the leafs flag in enemy territory was genius, but probably could've been done in a more legal manner lol.

    I remember His beginning !
    Sweden have always had good forwards that could do goal and make good assist.
    BUT Mats was (in my opinion) the first real swedish sniper/striker, that could do it without nerv when someone hade to step up..

    • @benon777
      @benon777 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sad thing about us swedish hockeylovers was that we never could se the swedish stars in NHL in the past, because of no internet and no tv-canals.
      Just smal short interviews and stories on the swedish sport-tv.

      That must be difficult. It's like trying to watch European football here in Canada in the 90s and early 2000s. Had to jump through hoops and pay an arm and a leg just to catch the games!
