Thanks for the review! My wife and I just purchased two of these Bibles--one in English for me and one in Korean for her. We've been reading together and the notes being in Korean are really helpful for her.
Donald Baker Hi donald just have a quick question, my mom is also korean and she always states that the bible is so hard to read in korean, Is the korean translated into a modern korean language or is it like KJV korean? Lol
I absolutely love mine!! It has enhanced my study. I use it,my rc Sproul reformation study Bible and my John MacAuther study Bible and between the three I have all i need😊
I originally bought the hardcover edition, but returned it because the pages were whisper thin. Recently I got an imitation leather copy at a used bookstore, and the pages were as they should be. I wish these Bible makers would take paper quality a little more seriously. This is an excellent Study Bible.
I really enjoy this bible. I laugh because I love the cover design and it's clean simplicity But we all have different tastes. I was fortunate to get a copy in the cordovan leather and it's beautiful so I just write in the hardback. It has some of the best articles I've ever read.
For esv, there are a few changes in 2016. Can probably just write the few minor changes yourself in your old copy of the esv. For those who want the lastest 2016 esv, can buy esv study bible published in 2017 or after. There is also a esv lutheran study bible altho probably wait for it to be updated to the 2016 esv.
Wow, this is an amazing and exhaustive review and puts the Bible in perspective! I love how unbiased it is as well. Thank you so much! Do you mark your Bibles at all? The paper looks thin, which is why I ask!
I got the personal size, the font is small, to the point of straining the eyes with the study notes. So I just order this standard size. It's a amazing bible with doctrine articles. And I love the pics and charts
Great and helpful Review! I have this same Study Bible in hardcover like the one you are showing. I really like the cover. I would get the leather version but it is heavy enough as it is.
I've seen reviews on Amazon of people saying that the publisher "omitted" certain verses, like John Ch5 V4. Same with Matthew Ch18 V 11. Like they were genuinely upset and were accusing the publisher of purposely leaving these verses out. Does this study bible mention in the notes why these verses have been omitted?? I'd really like to know! I'm considering buying this book to better my understanding! Edit: for those wondering, I bought this exact book and yes, in the notes below there is a mention of why some verses are omitted! I was relieved to see that honestly, as this is why precisely I got this study Bible, to get down into the smaller but important details.
@@rubinblack22 long story short, it didn't appear in the oldest manuscripts of Matthew so scholars didn't think it was accurate enough to include it in certain versions of the Bible.
Not a religious guy, never read the bible, but I'm taking a bible class for college and I need pictures and maps to help me comprehend the enormity of the bible--look forward to getting mine this Sunday! On a side note, Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I like the color scheme, but yes, to each their own. Thank you for this video.
My church uses NKJV and I’ve tried to use the Thomas Nelson Study Bible, but it doesn’t compare to this one. I’ve tried switching multiple times and always revert back to this ESV study Bible along with the best Bible app I’ve used yet. The ESV app allows you to bring up the study Bible notes in a split page form. It’s hard sometimes having old sermons C-2000 from Chuck Smith using the KJV and my church using NKJV and sometimes referencing NIV but above all the ESV has been the best for my understanding.
Thanks for the awesome review! I agree with you the color scheme isn’t great. I laughed when you jokingly said “My wife likes it. I think something’s wrong with her.”
I was all set to order this until I realized that it is not a red letter edition, which I have gotten used to and find helpful. Do you know if this is typical of the ESV?
Unfortunately I have had not had the opportunity to get my hands on a Global study Bible. I'm really not sure what it entails and how it differs from this ESV Study Bible. Sorry Jayant.
I bought the other hardback version of this study Bible and love it but...my pages sit weird (crinkled)and my spine feels like it wasn't glued right. Has anyone else had issues with this? I may take it back to lifeway if I feel it's not going to hold up. And may go for a different binding altogether. Thanks for any help.
Hi! Great info here! Thank you! How about the Life Application Bible in NASB? Which do you think would be great for personal study, understanding, and application of the gospel
I cannot answer for Bible Reviewer but if I may share some insights, yes, the Life Application Bible in NASB would be great for personal study, understanding, and application of the gospel
Allen Sagalla thank you so much! I got the Life application bible in pdf only because of the lockdown and community quarantine so I cannot buy or order any physical books.
Thanks for the video! I wanted to buy the portuguese version but it's not coloured and hasn't the other religions articles. And this is even cheaper! Let's improve my english then because it's worth.
I know you did a review of the dake which bible has more information overall and which bible is more comprehensive the dake bible or the ESV study Bible please let me know asap! Thanks bye
How Many Bibles do you have my Friend? I have a Bilingual Bible a Catholic Bible and 2 KJV Bibles but for some reason I want another one and at least 2 Study Bibles
I have around forty Bibles. I have given some away as gifts. I have one Catholic Bible that was given to me as a gift. Its from the 1900's and is really neat.
Loving your reviews, thank you! One negative point for me is that the Words of Christ is not in red, do you know any ESV SB like this one with the Words of Christ in red? Appreciate your help! Blessings.
This Bible seems really great, but the only complaint from me is, it is not a red letter Bible. Other than that this seems great! The Jeremiah study Bible and CSB Bible are also some other great options. Thanks for the detailed review!
This is in all honesty is very efficient study bible, but there is so many typos ( i hope they are typos) for instance the pronouns for God, He & His are lower-case quite a lot. Ex. Hebrews 13:21, James 1: 12 and Acts 10: 4. God's pronouns in all other Bible's are in capital letters. This may not be a thing to anyone else but this is a hindrance for me. So much detail is given in this study I only wonder if I should continue to use it on its own. I've recently started to add the Nelson study bible as well as the Ryrie study bible for checks and balances.
I bought this study bible and have been disappointed to find it teaches. "Once Saved Always Saved" Eternal Security doctrine, for example see notes for John 6. 39-40, Romans 11 just to name a couple places. The study notes also advocate Calvinistic viewpoints. Yet in the introduction it explains how it offers different view points. I found Calvinism and Eternal Security advocated in everywhere. I wish they would state that up front. I had a dear friend who I use to study the bible with who believed in Eternal Security but we were both honest about what we believed and had wonderful studies together and learned from each other. As a study bible you need to be forthright if you are promoting a particular set of views on scripture.
I believe that no one will agree with every opinion offered in any study Bible. I have not found a study Bible that I agree 100% with every aspect of. We must remember that every study Bible is mans words and not Gods. We have to sort through what we do and do not agree with (outside of the Bible text itself).
Thanks for the review! My wife and I just purchased two of these Bibles--one in English for me and one in Korean for her. We've been reading together and the notes being in Korean are really helpful for her.
It is an excellent study Bible! In fact, I just bought it again in bonded leather because I liked it so much.

Most of my bibles from different publishers have the same thin paper. Its pretty common bible design
@Strongman0307 I think they have to make the paper thin so the Bible won't be half a foot thick.

What is about font size, especially about footnote size, is it too small?

How is the paper quality? So thin it could tear?
I still don't get why they don't have a ribbon. Do you find the font easy/comfortable to read?

They do but it's so expensive! Buffalo leather is $150+ and the Truetone is $70. I can't afford that 😭😭

I was all set to order this until I realized that it is not a red letter edition, which I have gotten used to and find helpful. Do you know if this is typical of the ESV?
It really just depends on the Bible you choose. I have around eight ESV Bibles and I would say half of them are red letter Bibles.
@@biblereviewer7548 Thank you for your reply.
How is this different form the John macAuthur study bible?? Thanks!
Everything about them is different. I have them both and love them both. They two totally different study Bibles.
I have them both, I find the font they chose in the ESV study Bible to be easier to read. But I still love the John MacArthur’s one as well.
John MacArthur study bible includes his notes alone and the ESV is a multi scholar study bible. If i was to chose one i would pick the ESV.
