Great video, only second time ever had a video repair be true. Found massive corrosion behind contacts on wheel side. having 200k, gave the contact tabs a slight bend up. No more mashing on the horn! Thanks dude.😊
That's Fantasic! Glad you got it fixed, good job!
Thanks for helping me get my horn working so my truck could pass inspection! Excellent video!
Happy we could help!
Tried your fix and it worked great! I looked into a new part from the dealer and they were quoting me over $300.00, so this was a much better option. Thanks for the video!
I'm glad you got it fixed! Sometimes it's better to fix the problem instead of replacing it.
Incredible video, all the information you provide is absolutely golden. Your automotive knowledge and skills go unrivaled, I Promise You That!!!!!💪😎💪👍😁👌
Thanks! I appreciate it
Thank You! I have an 89 Grand Am. Same symptoms... No airbag. A much simpler application, for me... Thanks again!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Fixed my horn by following your video. Awesome.
Happy we could help!
Ahhh, thank you so much!!!!! Wonderful content.
You're wonderful content!
Thank you very much for the My Friend, very well explained, save me some money,
Happy to help!
If you look into the steering wheel where the horn contact wire goes in there are two recesses where the plastic ears go into it... I believe the only way can get it out without breaking the tabs is to first push it in (out of the recesses)and rotate it 90 degrees and then carefully take it out and when you're putting it back in you line it up the tabs with those two little recesses and push it straight in... it's a little different than the earlier ones that had one "tang" that went in (similar to an old-style push and turn light bulb) where you would push it in and turn it slightly clockwise i think (carefully)and release it and it would lock in.. good video!!... I wasn't sure how to get the airbag off and this helped to show the spring mechanism that holds it in place(thanks!)... might want to mark the horn contacts with a marker so they get back in the correct location
Thanks for the comment, you are exactly right about the ears!
@@dudewecanfixit thanks! I was surprised when I took mine out that it had changed from the old style.. I'm lucky I didn't break mine off.. hopefully somebody reads that comment before breaking theirs off... luckily I remembered that the old style was a push in and turn to release.. that probably saved my "ears" haha...
Idk if it's going to help me but I did read your comment before getting started so I say thanks and salute you!
@@CeeJayThe13thI hope it helped and you're welcome
@@calvinpochinko4277 most definitely did! I would have broken it lol. It's not real intuitive.
Thanks.... cleaned the contacts and whola! :-)
Great job!
Did this. Still nothing, removed AB again and pulled spring put, sanded the contact on the end= all better lol. Thanks for the "side soecific" tho. Guess I got lucky the first time!
Nice work!
Great video! very descriptive and solved my issue!
Glad it helped!
Yes! Worked awesome! Thank You!
You're welcome!
My issue is horn only works when steering wheel is straight. Turning just a little left or right it doesn't work. Replaced clock spring, cleaned contact and added solder to the spring!
Does it still not work?
Thanks for the help. Easy fix on my 02 2500hd 8.1
Glad it helped
Gr8 video and attention 2 detail ❤🙏😎
Thanks!!
Beautiful!
You're beautiful!
Yoo thanks a bunch had no horn for 2 weeks was thinking the horns or a wire was an issue
Happy this one could help you!
Great job explaining! Straight and to the point. Btw, one of the two plastic prongs broke just like yours. How did you fix it? Did you get a replacement? If so, where? Mine works after reassembly but I’m afraid it will disengage when my vehicle hits a big bump. Thoughts?
I just put it back in and carefully put the cover on. Probably a dealership part.
You can order the whole horn contact setup for about 15 bucks.
One of my 2 clips on the white sleeve is also broken. Part is Discontinued per dealer. How can I keep that plastic sleeve compressed so the contact is made?
You need a new one, look on eBay or go to the junk yard
Hello. I have a '99 Civic whose horn only works sometimes... I hear the relay's clicking noises when I press the buttons on the steering wheel. I bought another horn at a junkyard, thinking it was the horn, but it turned out not to be, as both work hooked up to a battery... What could it be? Help would be appreciated from anyone...
You may need to find a wiring schematic
What about if the horn is stuck in the on position?? 😢
The brackets may be reversed, swap them around
This the same for a trailblazer?
It should be similar
Was that making a relay pop?
At what point was a relay popping?
No
wow was that truck in a flood?
Nope, just normal wear and tear
This didn't solve my issue. My horn still only sounds when I turn my wheel to the right, and only for a turn of 180 degrees to the right. If I go past that, it stops working.
When I turn to the left, or keep the wheel straight, the horn doesn't work 😢
It might be the clockspring not making good contact
@@dudewecanfixit I agree
We are in a consensus!
@@dudewecanfixit lol. Affirmative ghost rider
