Robin James Hello, I have a question, the products of tony & guy hit protector and sea salt can be used at the same time to make a pre styler without any problem or hurt me?
Thank You Robin! I really love the 'Back to Basics" Series I've been using hair products for some time now, but this videos are what I wanted when I was just starting to use them, and they are really well structured on what the products should be and what to expect from them. You're the best in this type of videos!
I've discovered my own prestyler, a product called pantene oil replacement!, I've always used it as a conditioner but turned out that I was using it wrong, it's supposed to be applied and left to dry or blow dry ur hair and it contains silicones so it works as a heat protection as well! It's really great, it makes my hair thicker and healthy.
This 'Back to Basics' series is something that most people who are into hair style and grooming should watch either if they are beginners or already have some "experience" with various products. A brilliant idea Robin as I would not expect anything less from you ;) as a side note : the double breasted blazer from the background is absolutely eye-catching. Well done ;)
Well if you are doing a prestyler, do a video on a post styler too! More suggestions from me are blow dryers, pomades, and maybe like oils? Great video Robin!
Hey Robin nice video as always! I love tigi small talk as a prestyler. I highly recommend it to you. Its a hair serum, heat protectant in one. also it gives volume, texture and hold!!
LoligeAktion I also use this, strange how I haven't seen anyone on TH-cam using it, this product covers almost all your categories in one bottle, you should try it James.
How come in the correct segment, you mentioned that you only put on the thickening tonic without any additional products after? What's the difference between volumizer and thickening tonics? Also, is hair oil used for pre-style and if yes, how do you use them?
Quick question robin could you use a thickening tonic and a salt spray at the same time as I have pretty fine medium length hair so the thickening tonic is kind of a must for me but I also like the texture a salt spray provides so could you use them both at the same time?
would we apply the heat protectant spray and then say the thickening tonic straight after and then blow dry it or apply the protectant spray, blow dry and then apply the tonic and blow dry?
Hey Robin! Just a suggestion/ request. Could you do a back to basic on hairdryer? In particular using it to style and how to give more texture! thanks!!
robin I need your help. I have got fine hair and i try my best to fully volumize it via mousse, sea salt spray etc but when I have styled my hair with my l'oreal fiber paste and hairspray, after almost 2 hrs my hair falls down. I think that this happens because of my sweat so what should I do to prevent it please help.
Can I use both a thickening tonic and say the mousse or would that be too much product for pre-styling? Like you I have fine hair, and the trickiest bit for me has always been to get it to stay up, and to look good while being there.
do you wash them off with just water at the end? I'm looking for a product that is matt, has strong hold and I can just wash off with water! No pomade please!
what do you tell your barber when you get a haircut? I am trying to look for a haircut that suits me but i don't know where to start. I am leaning more towards to something like your hairstyle in this video. If you have one can you link me a video on how to style your hair like how it is in the video?
Robin do you use each of them separately or mix them in the pre styling stage? I.e would you use thickening tonic on dump hair, and before they go completely dry add volumizing mouse ? Regards
You have thin hair ? If so What pre styler do you use? I don’t want to use a hair dryer. I just want to use a Pre styled and then put my paste. Plus I use Pantene full and strong. Since I have thin hair what do you advise
I like the video I'm starting to let my hair grow I was wondering if there's a product I can use for thick hair so I can smooth it or make it easier to work with when I'm applying suavecito I live in the u.s
Love your videos Robin. Was wondering whether you could do a style guide for us guys who hold a bit more weight (espically us with a bit of a belly) i never know what pieces would suit and i tend to get stuck in a rut, would love to be a bit more on trend with my style. Thanks in advance. Have a great day. R :)
I have to straighten my hair first before blow drying it. I style my hair in a similar way to the way yours is in the video, but my hair is longer on top. It usually stays in place for about half an hour, and then just flops down and falls into my face. What do you suggest since I can't really use any products that will wet my hair as they will just bring the curls back out?
You have probably answered this somewhere before so apologies if you are repeating yourself--does mousse generally have a glossy finish and does this counteract the matte finish from clays? If so, what sort of pre-styler would you recommend for matte clay?
How'd I know if my product has thermal/heat protection? Its not stated on the product, but the company themselves told me that there is thermal protection but I somehow have some doubts in that. So how do I clear my doubt? Do I check the ingredients? If so, whats the ingredient that I should be looking for on the product? Thank you!
Well I'm loving this new series ( but still not better then Brand battle) also this one was really intresting and helpful , But Robin really love your videos they are the best! MM Styling Balm spam Could you try Sheh Voo ( its a cleansing oil that doesnt strip your natural hair oils out Dre Drexler reviewed it) but wanna know your opinion also because its expensive as hell in europe because i dont know any other shampoo that i can use daily without stripping natural oils Also what would you recommed as predtyler for tick wavy 6inches hair ?? , Is Blumaan meraki good as a prestyler of more mediocre?
I have longish super thick hair which I straighten because it is curly. I use lynx clay and Got2b hairspray but my hair still falls. Is there anything different I can use?
try Morris Motley Styling Balm , i also have wavy thick hair that a straighten and this is the only product that works for me ( i tried Claymation, spongewax, By vilain ,blumaan ) but none woorked as good as MM
Hey Robin! Thank you for all these tutorials, I really apprecciate all of them. I would like to know your thoughts about volumizing powder, and if it's the appropiate product to use when you have short hair. I use clay wax btw
Hi Robin really hope you can reply to this and give me a bit of guidance for my daily styling routine... Say i'm using a heat protectant, sea salt spray and mousse as my styling product for me to do a quiff, from watching this video should i blowdry my hair with the heat protectant then after drying it continue blowdry with the mousse and then sea salt spray all seperately? I have thick coarse hair and have spent well over a year finding the best routine, products etc in order to achieve the look I want. I know your an expert and any info that can help me would be very much appreciated
Hey - I don't often use heat protectant if I'm using another pre-styling product... but it's up to you. If anything, I'd go sea salt before the mousse. It will give the texture and then the mousse will give the structure.
Dillon C really any brand, cream is just for anti frizz to help tame curliness and is perfect for thick hair. there's lots of creams out there there's drugstore ones and then higher end ones. id suggest getting a higher end one
The second in my Back To Basics series. I hope you guys enjoy this one!
Different strokes for different folks.

How come in the correct segment, you mentioned that you only put on the thickening tonic without any additional products after?
What's the difference between volumizer and thickening tonics?
Also, is hair oil used for pre-style and if yes, how do you use them?
Hi Robin, maybe you could do a follow up video on specific products or a brand battle on prestylers other than mousse (salt sprays etc.)
Quick question robin could you use a thickening tonic and a salt spray at the same time as I have pretty fine medium length hair so the thickening tonic is kind of a must for me but I also like the texture a salt spray provides so could you use them both at the same time?

Hey Robin! Just a suggestion/ request. Could you do a back to basic on hairdryer? In particular using it to style and how to give more texture! thanks!!
robin I need your help. Are you using too much product? Try stripping it back a bit and go lighter.
Can I use both a thickening tonic and say the mousse or would that be too much product for pre-styling? Like you I have fine hair, and the trickiest bit for me has always been to get it to stay up, and to look good while being there.
Is it good to use a thickening tonic before salt spray followed by a clay?? I have fine thinning hair. Thanks
You hair was perfect on this video, which products did you use?
Robin have you tried volumizing tonic by aveda? i have medium coarse hair which one should I buy the volumizing or thickening tonic for prestyler ?
Can you use more than one pre styler at once? For example I have very dry, thin hair. Can I use a thickening tonic and a smoothing oil?
do you wash them off with just water at the end? I'm looking for a product that is matt, has strong hold and I can just wash off with water! No pomade please!
Would a normal hair oil be considered a prestyler? can I use it in conjunction with a wax?
This is my favorite hairstyle of yours.

How about the Daimon Barber Texture Tonic? Isn't that an excellent choice?
what pre-styler should I use for thin hair? It would be great if it include heat-protection
Very useful! thanks.
You have probably answered this somewhere before so apologies if you are repeating yourself--does mousse generally have a glossy finish and does this counteract the matte finish from clays? If so, what sort of pre-styler would you recommend for matte clay?
Which is best wax

I have longish super thick hair which I straighten because it is curly. I use lynx clay and Got2b hairspray but my hair still falls. Is there anything different I can use?
+x Warlost Garrix use a better quality hair product e.g. Fudge products or hand de fuko. I think hanz de fuko are over rated but hey ho
Jack Jones Claymation?
+x Warlost Garrix to be honest I'd save your money. I would you fudge matte hed extra.
mega hold but it dries quick
try Morris Motley Styling Balm , i also have wavy thick hair that a straighten and this is the only product that works for me ( i tried Claymation, spongewax, By vilain ,blumaan ) but none woorked as good as MM
Is it Matte Hed Extra molding wax?
Hey Robin! Thank you for all these tutorials, I really apprecciate all of them. I would like to know your thoughts about volumizing powder, and if it's the appropiate product to use when you have short hair. I use clay wax btw

He Reviewed Orignal by Blumaan, not the Blumaan Pomade

so...I need to go through all 4 step before I put the clay on my hair?
rockdw no gaha
generally every product whether mister pompadour or cheap loreal shampoos consist of sls. the next topic should be related to effects of sls on hair.
Do you use all 4 eveytime you do your hair (Protect, correct, erect and direct) or just one then blow dry
What pre-stylers could I use if I have thick curly hair?
Dillon C use cream
Any specific brand?
Dillon C really any brand, cream is just for anti frizz to help tame curliness and is perfect for thick hair. there's lots of creams out there there's drugstore ones and then higher end ones. id suggest getting a higher end one
Ryland Morrissey Ok thank you, and do you think a clay for a post styler would be a good option?
Dillon C yes a clay or wax is gold for thick hair
what is your hair type plz plz tell me ?
What about volumising powders?
