    Hey man I gotta genuine question. After flushing and adding the correct amount of pag oil in system did the ac run good? Also how much pag oil did you add for the new lines and since you flushed the evap?

      Just wanna make sure that flush isn’t gonna harm my evap

    Yes, you can rent the vac pump and manifold (at least u can at O'Reilly's). My rented vac pump and manifold were acting up. Couldn't pull a full vacuum even when disconnected from system. Be sure vac pump has proper oil level in it.

      I didn’t think to see if I could rent one. They were cheap enough on Amazon, so I just bought one. Used it more than I thought I would have. Thanks for the heads-up though in case someone else may be wondering.

    My Camaro is popping the AC clutch fuse. I am assuming its the compressor clutch. If I put a new fuse in, it blows cold air while the car is idling. I start driving and the fuse blows. Do you think I need to flush / replace the whole system?

    The trick to the stretch belt and Gates tool is put the AC drive stretch belt on AC pulley first, but walk it on the crank pulley from BEHIND the crank pulley. Tech tip. If car is a manual, put it in neutral. Lol.

      That's a good idea. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll keep that in mind next time I need to swap that damn belt out.

      Completed the teardown and rebuild last night. Only other tips I'd add are, the fans didn't need to come off (even for my SS V8). Still plenty of room to pull condenser. Buy a good condenser. Cheap China condenser I bought was either so bent up from shipment, or mis-fabbed so bad I had to modify it to fit. Agree, reinstalling lines on compressor b4 hard mounting is easier. O-Reilly info showed 4 total oz of PaG 46 so I put in 1 3 oz in to condenser hot side (top) and 0.3 oz.where I could in other lines. Compresor had 1.4 oz already in it from factory (AC Delco) and evap holds 1 for a total of 4 oz. in the system. I bought but didn't use aerosol AC flush. Blew out with air first and didn't see any crap. Figured most if anything got trapped in condenser/drier. Thanks again for posting this vid. Very helpful as other vids online were V6.

    Do you have to pull the dash for the expansion valve?

    • @jazzlejohnson5364
      @jazzlejohnson5364  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not have to pull the dash. It's tucked in the firewall behind the driver side of the motor.

    How much pag oil did the system require? im getting ready to do this same job on a 2012 ss camaro.

      @ Andrew Bowles, it depends on what you are replacing. Just the compressor, you'll need to drain and measure how much oil you get from the old compressor. New compressor will need to be drained and measured as well. However much you drained from the old compressor, is how much new oil you need in the new compressor. New Delphi compressor come prefilled with the correct amount which should be 2.5 oz. Replacing the condenser, you'll need to add 1.35 oz. Desiccant replacement, 0.34 oz. Evaporator, 1.0 oz. Refrigerant lines, 0.34 oz. For each component that's replaced, that's how much oil you'll need to add.

      I did the compressor, condenser, expansion valve, flushed evaporator core, flushed lines. everything you did. My compressor didn't come pre oiled. I added right around 4.5 ozs of pag oil to tge system.It took me right at 6 hours to do everything. I used hose clamps on the power steering lines just like you said. Saved me from having to bleed system.I also drilled out the old expansion valve like you did to flush evaporate core, worked great.. Ac is blowing colder than it did when we the got the car 5 years ago with 60k miles. you're video really helped me alot. Thanks again.

      @Andrew Bowles, that’s great to hear! I wasn’t sure how helpful that video would be with me just talking about it. Super pumped to hear it helped make it a bit easier for you!

    Do you have to pull the dash for that?

    • @jazzlejohnson5364
      @jazzlejohnson5364  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only if you want to get at the heater or evaporator cores. I didn’t in this instance.

      @@jazzlejohnson5364 I have a broken expansion valve and all the mechanics told me the dash needs to be pulled. Can it really be pulled from the firewall?
