Great video, that intro scene was awesome. Really cool back story about how you were able to help mth and those changes on the blue comet make an already fantastic engine even better, I might need to upgrade! Really great history lesson on the engine and cool the way the new locomotive is more accurate. Glad you explained that turbo steam generator on the tender, I was wondering what that was.
Thank you for posting, this is a fantastic locomotive. Love how the side rods are the same color as side rods actually are, and not the dark metallic which is not prototypical at all. It makes the running gear pop against the black wheels. Also love how the black is relatively shiny, also like the prototype. The fact that they painted the jacketing over the firebox black is on point too, as so many model companies wrongly paint firebox jacketing graphite. MTH is looking especially great these days, I’m glad they’re still around and doing a lot of right things.
Great video Matt! That engine is gorgeous! MTH did a great job and I'm glad they reached out and listened to y'all on making it right! Your layout is coming along well! Loved your angled up shots with the backdrop behind. Almost felt like we were trackside! Thanks for sharing! ~Ricky
Thanks Ricky! It’s definitely a looker for sure! Was a super fun process, This video acted unintentionally as a teaser for my next layout update. Trying out my new track lights which so far I’m very pleased with!
Great intro MattyC! It looks like MTH did an awesome job with these. I love the details and the whistle steam and smoke are super on these engines. I am glad you were able to pick up both models. Fantastic video! Bill B.
Thanks Bill! Ya I’m super excited and happy with this run, Definitely a very slick locomotive to say the least! The Blue Comet you see in this video is not new from this run, it is the original from the late 90s I had it upgraded to Lionel legacy by Sid a few years ago, Thought it be fun to do a side by side comparison for the detail differences.

That’s no whistle. That’s a SMOKE CANNON! 🤩
I have the 17 version set and love it one of my favorites
Great history and great looking steam
Definitely thought it was worth brining up this class of engines background this time around. Absolutely is an awesome looking steamer for sure.
Congratulations! Killer collaboration! They look amazing! 💯
Thanks!

Very wise choice.

Just gained a new subscriber….trains and Beatles?! Sold! Hello friend!
Thanks so much!
Welcome!!
Beautiful engine. I’ve lived in Jersey my whole life and surprisingly I don’t own a single CNJ item. I need to fix that
@@DeerbrookSouthernRR Thank you!
This would definitely be the engine to get you started!
