The pleasure that this notification inspired is presently indescribable. Dream Journey presenting Farid Ayaz et al. reciting Ghalib - you cannot get better cocktails of poetry and music! All other renditions of this particular work I have heard treat it as a lament, an ode invoking sorrow and pity for the times that the poet is in. Farid Ayaz and Abu Muhammad bring out a different facet - they bring out the farce and the satire that is in Ghalib with a polish and finesse too fine for my words to describe. They sang it like I read it in my head, the way I think Ghalib meant it in the first place - with a sharp wit and caustic barbs and honest self-deprecation. A million thanks to Dream Journey for this gem, kudos to the performers and a salute to Mirza Ghalib. Looking forward to next Friday.
OMG finally finally finally...!!! Finally somebody reads and understands Ghalib from a different perspective... Ghalib's poetry was multi-faceted... There was definitely lament but there was subtle satire as well and a hell of a lot of romace...
Farid bhai ki girahbandi ka javaab nahin. aik second mein kahaan se kahasn ponhcha dete hein janab. A BIG thanks particularly to Abu Muhammad bhai who agreed to be recorded reciting Ghalib even though this was their first attempt. This tarz was chosen by him and literally practiced for a few seconds before the baithak began. In light of this the couple of errors were to be expected, nonetheless we all enjoyed it very much and they have adopted this kalam as one they now sing frequently in suitable situations.😍😍
At 10:49, Fareed Sahab reads a couplet by Ghalib and says, "Ustaad toh tha yaar yeh." What a pure and brilliant expression. Someone like Ghalib, who died in poverty, who lost seven children and had no successor, someone who was taunted by his contemporaries, 150 years later we listen to him. And he is being validated by the likes of Farid Ayaz who himself is a product of a tradition as old as the language speak. Pure mastery! Greatness!
I love it when Fareed saab jokes about. This is a performance in it's truest form, not overly rehearsed, not overly scripted. Let's all sit together and see where the night takes us. BEAUTIFUL!
I am on death bed from last 1 year.... Recently got to hear Ustad ji... Most of my beliefs and reasoning I had,, were demolished by the superb poetry I am hearing from last few days... Rendered a new dimension in my heart It will be much easier to die now..... Inshallah
We were in same class of BYJ school. Fareed your face is the same as it was in class 10th. Where is masroor. After so many years I am looking for my childhood friends. If you see me you can not recognize me. Regards zahid
Fareed Ayaz ji is an in-person (immersed person) into the words & lines he sings. I am a Sanskrit knowing Hindu Brahmin; and Fareed ji is one of my teachers. Regards.
Just amazing. Best rendition of this ghazal I have heard. Captures Ghalib’s sarcasm and wit brilliantly. And amazing chemistry within the group. Hats off. Waaahhhh Kya masti hai... kya bayaan ... kya bayaan .... Intehaayee Khoobsurat !!!!!
Attitude attitude attitude Baazichaa-ai-atfaal hai duniya mere aage Hota hai Shabo-roz tamasha mere aage Ek Khel hai aaurange sulema mere nazdeek Ek baat hai ejaaze-masiha mere aage Mat pooch ki Kya haal hai mera tere peeche Ye dekh ki kya rang hai mera tere aage

I don’t speak the language and are from the other side of the world but I’ve heard these songs before. I can’t explain it but I’ve heard these songs before.
The world is a playground for children before me Night and day the racket goes on before me But a game to me is the throne of Solomon The Messiah’s miracles are but a thing before me No name can I see in the picture of the world No inspiration in the being of things before me A glitter of sand is a desert in my presence This river grinds its forehead on dirt before me Ask not what happens to me in your absence Look at the state of your color before me You are right, I am self-indulgent, but why not? When an idol of silver, a mirror, sits before me Then just look at this style of flowery parlance Would someone put a glass of wine before me Any chance of hatred has passed, envy passed too So why should I say it? Take not his name before me Belief stays my hand and disbelief pulls it forth Behind me is the Kaaba, and the church before me I am a lover, and to charm is my procession Even Laila speaks badly of Majnun before me I am happy, but would that in union I had died I yearn for the night of parting to come before me A torrent of blood, a tempest, would that it were Would you just look at what comes before me My hands might tremble but my eyes are still strong For now leave the goblet and the glass before me My colleague, my confidant, my partner in drink Of Ghalib speak no evil, speak good before me - Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib (1797-1869) translation from Urdu mine

Didn't know this about Ghalib
Thank you for this info. Never knew this happened to Ghalib.
Bro great explanation
That's why ghalib called legend of Urdu and Farsi 🤩🔥
Anyone interested in Ghalib must read the book called "Dozakhnama". It's a Bengali novel, but an excellent English translation is available.
Aaj ghalib ka tasawuf ka ilm mujh pa sahi se khula hai
